Since they are making the sky golem not able to use mount equipment, could they not do the same for our water striders? It took a long time to earn mine and I am not happy it will lose its water walking ability in 8.2

This ship sailed long ago, the new system is going live in less than 2 days.
If you earned the Strider already, you get a free bind-on-account pair of WW boots (and at one point it was said a copy for every alt as well, though I don’t know if this ever came about).

We’ve been asking this since they first told us about this stupid equipment concept. But they won’t. Because they’ve been trying to take water walking off of that mount for two expansions.

Stop beating this dead horse please. I’m 100% against the removal of the Striders ability, but they’ve been wanting to remove that feature for a while now. Oh well.

Well, on the bright side you’ll be able to buy some water-walking shoes from the Anglers WHENEVER you want!
Also, to anyone reading this thread, I’d be glad to make you some Inflatable Mount Shoes so as long as you can provide me the materials to make them.

The idea is to give freedom to mounts by equalizing them. Keeping it in would change nothing because we’d still be chained to the Strider any time water comes up. Which defeats the point of the water walking equipment.
It’s understandable some like it and others don’t, but it’s pretty unlikely they’ll revert it.

Obviously Blizzard agrees with me, so here we are.
Given the radio silence we’ve had on this since it was announced, they obviously don’t care. Yes, it would make sense to exempt the Water Strider like the Sky Golem but this is Blizz we’re talking about you know.

I hate my water strider. I’m happy I can finally use other mounts.
EDIT: Use water boots on your strider if you care so much about it.

You can already use other mounts if you want. Water walking potion has existed for awhile. And it’s very easy to switch to a land mount when you’re done crossing water.
However, they should have added a different kind of ww mount in WoD instead of another bug. And since Legion and BfA have so much water in them 1 or 2 in those expansions as well. It would have cut back on the complaining from people who think the water strider is ugly. Ofc the heavy use by some people is due in part to the long delay in getting flying so this was definitely a Blizz created problem.

I think the number of mounts in general is just ridiculous, and is the reason why there’s so many issues.
They should have different species for each mounts, each of those species having a special effect. They could add a new species of mounts that has the same effect of a Water Strider, even.

Sorry if I repeated a previous tread. I do not use these forums very often, and this time via my iPad instead of my desktop. I did do a quick search using “mount” as a keyword, in hindsight maybe I should have used “water strider” instead.
