Water Strider Water Walking Passive - Removed

As of live, looks like only toons above level 100 get the free water-walking item. All of my many low-level alts now have to go buy it. (Or rather, the character with the rep buy it for them). Reasoning probably being that low level toons will only be in zones where they can already fly (cough except those from 20-60 cough)

Fine by me. Can’t see ever bothering to start another alt again at this rate. Or play any alts. I may poke at the new zones with my main, just to give it an honest chance to lure me back in…

but now that Blizzard broke my loyalty and made me start looking elsewhere, I have to kinda say thanks… I’ve really been enjoying the competition.

How are my low level alts on a different server and faction supposed to get these? They all used the Water Strider based on my one horde character getting the rep and purchasing it, so none of them have the rep to buy more tokens for my alts. Aside from the annoyance of having to pay 40g a pop (when before it was FREE for all toons after purchased once), it seems awfully unfair for my other server and faction lowbie alts to be unable to acquire the equipment by any means. (Except repeating the rep grind)

Ion always had a reverse hard on for Water Striders. It’s his game now. We just pay to live in his arbitrary universe…
Changes like this, making all my weeks of rep grind meaningless, and disabling custom sound addons and disabling Reign of Chaos in Warcraft III all affect me deeply and make me realize Blizzard as a company doesn’t care about alienating its hard core fan base anymore.

I understand this is an older post but this issue with the Water Strider never effected me till yesterday when I was leveling my level 21 Vulpera in fishing around Darkmoon Faire island. When I realized my toon didn’t have the “gifted” water walking buff for mounts I jumped her on my Water Strider only to be shocked to have her sink to the bottom of the water. I though it was a bug and tried to rejump on the Water Strider…sunk again. I was shocked. Those of us whom work hours of fishing with Nat Pagel to get to exalted or Best Friend Status to received the Water Strider mount. So now because every whiner who didn’t wanted to put in the time to receive this mount, got a freebie buff and those of us with the Water Walking Mount now has a sinking mount. This is so wrong. I am quite angered with this and even wrote a ticket to Blizz which we all know I will get this cheesy canned response to my frustration and nothing will change. And yes I did go buy the water walking buff from Nat cuz I knew my Water Striders natural ability is gone for good.

It wasn’t because of that one “whiner” who kept coming to the forum complaining she was tired of seeing people on waterwalking mounts. It was because they want to slow us down in the future. Having us swim slowly across bodies of water was what they really wanted, and when they remove all waterwalking in the next expansion, that’s what we’ll have to do.

Laughs in DK. NOPE.

If it was to slow us down then tell us what they gain from doing so. And how, exactly, is it slowing you down?

How “is” it slowing ME down right now? It’s not.

They first tried to remove waterwalking from mounts in Legion, apparently because of that stream in Highmountain that had currents. They actually said it had to do with currents, and that was the only location there were currents in Legion. They told us that waterwalking mounts would only work in the zone they were earned in.

People were quitting over it.

It will be a simple thing to disable the water-walking item in the next expansion.

If you’re trying to pretend you don’t understand why they would want to slow down players in this game, you’re pretending to be, um, so far behind the curve that nobody ought to take you seriously.

But that’s fine, because nobody does take you seriously, given your post history.

Cool, so now w’ere back at square one. It isn’t going to slow you down in tghe future either. If it is, how?

I have a really hard time believing there were more than a solid dozen players quit over this. Players claim they are going to quit about every single topic that pops up on the forum but then you see them complaining about the same things for the next two years.

Where did you hear about this or did you make this up?

Time-gates always have and always will be a thing in this game and will be in pretty much every single game in this genre.

I don’t really care if you take me seriously or not, I don’t care if anyone takes me seriously or not here, this is a video game forum and should be treated as such. This is a place to discuss a video game. lol

Well, if they are removing water walking will that also include DK’s and Shamans water walking abilities?

What upsets me is that these are “specialty” items which make and give the game flavor. They are “fun” items which can be shared with a group. I still get like when a DK whips out his frost water path for the group or when I’m on my Shaman and can walk out to an area I want to fish in. I have played this game for over 10 years and have seen a lot of changes. Many I don’t agree with and do miss. Thanks for all your feedback on my rant. Btw I’m still mad about removing my water striders ablility to walk on water w/o a specialty enchant.

ugh thanks for resurrecting the thread.

i got a harsh reminder of how much i hate this system last night.

…riding around on a regular ground mount, jumped off a cliff into water, and nearly died.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Lol thanks for sharing!

Who necro’d this thread…

Go back Kasarang Wilds and buy the water walking mount equipment item and send it to your alt, problem solved.

I did. Its the concept of my lost mount skill which I put hours into to receive which pissed me off

And no Jops to remind you to point your camera down when falling to break surface tension, because he left the game in disgust over changes…

i wouldn’t have even considered it… because i wasn’t on my “water walking mount”.

…so much for all those people telling me to just put the stupid item in my slot and i’d never notice the difference.

So basically, there’s zero point in grinding towards anything because Blizzard lacks the integrity and they don’t give a damn about how much time you wasted earning it. Good to know. Saves me a lot of time and money.

yeah cause they totally didn’t make a grind to get a water walking creature, which i might add could be used below level 100 to actually walk on water. oh and might i add, pathfinder kinda negates that whole true mount freedom thing completely.

it’s blizzard doing what they do best by taking away cool things.
