Water Strider Water Walking Passive - Removed

Stop making things up; you have had every choice.
Water striders have never been mandatory, and it’s easy to get around even Nazmir without water walking.

Is this a joke? There were plenty of regions in Legion that were considerably more difficult to get around without a water strider. There are plenty in BfA that are annoying to get around without a water strider because you would rather cut through the water than deal with the incredibly high mob density that’s a common theme all throughout BfA.

What are you even talking about?
You always have a choice, go do TW and get reps to get water-walking mount.

8.2?
It is a gold sink, and a slap to everyone who grinded out hours and hours to make a choice on having a water-walking during their 10+ years of playing WoW.

I am fine if you want more choice.
But the choice must be tied to exalted reputation to buy the water-shoes.
It shouldn’t be craftable at all nor should it be sold at a lower reputation.

Uh… I already said in an earlier post that I did TW to get mine. But that I hate using it because it’s ugly but I feel forced to due to its utility. So now I, as someone who does not like the water strider, will not be forced to use it because I will have other options. Choices!

And I have no problem with your choice. My choice would be for them to leave the strider alone and I am even ok with them making it exempt from using the equipment like they are doing with the Golem.

No harm there right?

Except if they leave it alone it would still be better than other mounts because it will have waterwalking by default and then you can use another equipment. So no, there’s no choice.

Removing waterwalking from it and making the first equipment free and all subsequent waterwalking equipments cheap is a compromise that should adequately satisfy all parties, except apparently those who don’t care about anyone else’s choices.

Why are you lying? You aren’t being forced to use it at all.
I am pretty sure you only use the mount for like 5-10mins TOP per day when venturing out into the world.

Everyone uses their main mount 99% of the time since majority of people have the water-strider on their hotbar, have an ALT macro or a script macro to mount on water for water-related stuff.

So how can you hate something that you barely even used?

Your entire argument is based on speculation about how I play and how often I play. It does not need anything more than a “lol k”

lol k.

Then what is your point?
You have a choice to not use the mount if you think it is ugly.

You want choice, and you have it.
Either use the water-strider or not.

Is it everyone’s fault that you use the mount 100% of the time while everyone is mounting on the water-strider less than .01% of the time?

I don’t understand this. You feel forced to use it but in reality, you’re not. It’s a choice. Choices have consequences. If you really hate the bug that much, you could use a water walking potion on any other mount. There’d be a bit of an inconvenience because you’d have to buy it and reapply it periodically, but it could be a valid trade off for someone who truly hates the bug mount that much.

Now, because some folks aren’t willing to use the options that are already available to them, other folks are losing functionality that they currently have and enjoy.

There are ways that this system could have been implemented to make that not the case, which would have been awesome because I like the idea of mount equipment in theory. If the strider was left as is and not able to benefit from equipment, if the equipment items were mount specific instead of character specific, if the equipment wasn’t equipment at all and instead was created as mount type abilities - there are plenty of ways that Blizzard could have implemented this system to create a huge number of options and choices, because you’re right that options and choices are a very good thing. But instead, Blizzard is giving choices to one group and removing functionality from another. I dislike having in game functionality that I enjoy removed so that another group of people can benefit, especially when that other group already has in game options to give them the functionality that they desire.

To not use it would be a disadvantage. There is no choice if the only alternative is inconvenience yourself and take longer to do what others do in much shorter time. I made my point pretty clear.

You’re not losing the functionality. You’ll retain it with the free waterwalking equipment you’ll receive.

Sky Golem will retain its ability and have no equipment slot.
If the water striders retained their ability there is no reason to believe they would have an equipment slot.

If the water strider lost its equipment slot in return for keeping water walking, I’d be okay with that. Because, again, I would not have to use it and you’d still get to use the mount you have that weird sentimental attachment to.

But unless Blizzard specifically announces that, I’m going to discuss the facts we know.

Why do you feel forced to use a mount whose utility will probably be broken by mob aggro by the time you reach water, requiring you to stop and remount anyway?

Because it’s still better than crawling through the water at a much reduced speed? Also, aggro doesn’t break water walking. Damage does.

I will lose gold per alt.
I will lose my TW Tokens because I spent it on rep.
I am not gaining anything, just a straight loss since the functionality “was” already there before.

I am fine if the water shoes are tied to exalted rep.
I won’t mind that it will become another gold-sink, but these shoes shouldn’t be obtainable from crafting or neutral rep.

Uh, that’s the very definition of a choice. It may not be a choice you like, but it’s a choice nonetheless. I make choices to play the game in ways that are less efficient simply because the more efficient ways aren’t fun for me. That’s my choice and I accept the consequence.

Right now, the functionality that I enjoy is to have water walking on all of my characters, current and future, immediately upon them hitting level 20 without any additional steps or expense. I will not have that functionality after 8.2. I am, therefore, losing functionality.

It’s not a sentimental attachment. I think the thing is ugly as all get out. But as explained above, I like that I can use it on my alts immediately at level 20.

Thank you for acknowledging that there’s a way that Blizzard could have satisfied both the folks who like the current functionality of the bug and those who would rather have water walking on other mounts with the equipment items.

As soon as you take a hit, from any mob, even one you ran past and barely noticed, the water walking ability breaks. So unless your entire gameplay involves running along waterways with no hostile mobs, most of the time you’re going to have to stop when you hit water, dismount, and remount. You’re apparently forcing yourself to ride a mount you hate, in the name of utility that is quite likely to be broken by the time you need it.

On one character. We have to purchase it for the others. In my case that is 39 other characters.

Also, who is to say that at some point in the future they will not change out the equipment slots so that it is not available at all. It isn’t like we don’t have examples of when this game has done this before right?
