Water Strider Used Too Much?

Same… I use it when I have to, because you know there isn’t a flight point near the daily and I can’t FLY there under my own mount… so if I have to cross water I mount it at the point I need to use it. But this equipment thing I really question… Since Blizzard was going to curtail to the expansions where it was gained in not just one but two different expansions since they’ve been released.

So I question, why this… why now. What is the benefit… I don’t see it.

I can see that… since you don’t own them.

Exactly and I’ve managed to make it through these 15 years of wow. I don’t get the gnashing of teeth over this. Flying will be out soon.

The hidden nerf may be that they remove the goblin glider kit since they are adding the parachute for the mounts, and that they will remove the barding and water walking potion since they are adding the stun block and water walking for mounts.

Food for thought.

I honestly don’t care as long as we can keep the goblin glider it, the barding, and the water walking potions. If they remove those, then, Houston, we have a problem!!

I feel… sympathetic for people who think the only mount they should use is the strider. I can’t even remember the last time I used it, but then again I have no reason to go out in the current zones outside of maybe getting to a dungeon. Even doing emissaries though on occasion or when I was going to Uldir there weren’t many places I needed it. I say this as a class who doesn’t have a water walking ability.

I’d argue the sky golem was used far more. Sure i might use the water strider alot, but always for small stretches of time while i move across a body of water. When i log on my herby, i might be herbing for hours on that sky golem.

seems like the folks arguing against this change are reaching to me. When i heard the water mount was losing its ability i freaked too, but then when i read we get a free water walking gem in the mail and can make it walk again i was ok with it.

Personally this idea seems like a nice efficient way to get us more water walking mounts without having to devote resources to art, that could be used better elsewhere. I think it was a pretty smart change.

That’s only because you’re short sighted. Sure for NOW you can give it back it’s water walking ability, “after you buy the boots for every alt you have that’s NOT exalted with the Anglers.” But that is no longer a part of the mount. It’s part of a mount equipment system.

What happens at the end of the expansion when those equipments are considered legacy content and don’t work past level 120? Maybe there will be a new recipe in the new expansion, or maybe not. Meanwhile your strider can’t water walk so if the boots don’t work you are (literally) sunk.

Agreed - I don’t understand why they just don’t treat them the same.

short sighted? Everything you just brought up is speculation. lets stick to what is known

Or you can use the mount you want on your “rare-use” action bar, and also put your water strider there.

I only use my water-strider when I intend to walk across water for prolonged periods of time.

No one is forcing you to use water strider exclusively. That is on you.

I don’t use the water strider exclusively - nor do I want to. The point is that I use plenty of other mounts - and use the strider specifically when I need it’s utility.

I’d prefer it was left alone, not benefitting from the equipment, and still available whenever I need to walk across water.

Sorry misunderstood your post. Agree with everything you are saying here.

Maybe it’s just me but i find that most people that complain about the water-strider are the ones that never farmed the rep for it in MoP in Dranor from the command center. Or just play a DK your issue is Solved.

Man. If we only had the CoT portal coming in 8.2… Due to feedback… If only…

They been trying to take it away for years.

Yeah but the idea that it’s “used too much” seems flawed. There’s so many other needs for various other mounts.

See, I kinda feel the opposite about this. I would rather that blizz develop more mount options with special abilities. The strider is annoying because it is my only real option for a water walking mount. I would be thrilled if the art department designed more things like that for me to earn in game.

I think this is a great option.

It seems like a problem of their own creation to me if it’s used too much is the logic.

The Bfa islands are tiny there is a lot of rivers and streams in the zones themselves as well.

People don’t want travel to be a pain in the a**. They have forced flying back to the point of near irrelevance as they wanted. so then people do the next step. Use the rivers as a road or just go around the continent altogether since they are so small.

I know it’s not a logical conclusion but it really does seem like they just want to irritate players with travel.

Oh well guess I get to buy water walking for all my characters now.
