Water Strider Used Too Much?

Does it matter? Potions were available for use. The people who chose not to use them are probably the same people who choose not to use the strider.

Incorrect. Even with the potions available, a sufficient stock would be required to get any real use out of them, unlike a skill that can be reapplied after the buff falls off. I didn’t like the appearance of water walking potions for taking away from what shamans had unique to them. And the only reason I didn’t have a problem with death knights having path of frost is because Arthas used something similar to freeze the sea between Silvermoon and Quel’Thalas during his invasion so that he along with his undead army could cross safely.

But I must admit, a magical item that can be crafted during a time when professions were actually relevant that had an almost unique use was a good idea. A mount that makes that item and the classes tied to the ability that is easily available through something as brain dead as fishing and daily quests was the real insult.

In your view it is incorrect, however, being a person that always kept a large stash of water-walking potions on me for use when I needed to walk on water, it is not incorrect.

It is also why I worked hard at farming the raft and the strider. My friends and I enjoy exploring the world and part of that is being able to walk on water so we can explore the oceans.

Before my toons were high enough level to swim from Wetlands to Southshore, they all did the pilgrimage to Booty Bay by river. All of my characters have used water as a highway longer than the water strider has existed.

I played the beta stress test this last week and swam around the Eastern Kingdom so I could see what it looked like from the water. There were times I wished I had my strider so we could enjoy the journey together! (although at lvl 5 I wouldn’t be able to ride him  )

Find me one of these people who’s crying about “But MUH water strider!” who doesn’t have a 120?

Hard to be mature when you get responses like below:

People literally crying because it got moved to a different location.

Its really sad that you dont know how to debate yet try and make a point anyway. Heck I even gave you a second chance to say your point but its clear you just want to ignore it.

You claim a lack of maturity in others while using childish tactics, its at least amusing to watch your school yard level antics.

Yes and no. The mount is not being taken away, but its ability is. The ability it was given since MOP that was the main focus on why people wanted the mount. That is the reason why people spent time to get it.

And they’re literally getting a free pass pretty much on being able to get water walking again, so the mount can still have water walking if they want and their efforts weren’t for not.

Only issue I’m seeing are these entitled players thinking they should get a mount that can ONLY water walk AND have mount equipment for every other mount to get extra abilities, which is literally why Blizzard made mount equipment in the first place so that all mounts are more equal and you don’t have to have one mount for water walking, one mount for this, one mount for that.

The flaw in your argument is the fact that I can do that now. There are consumable items that give me anti-daze, speed increase, stay on mount, etc.

The other part of your argument that is flawed is the fact that should they exempt the strider (like the golem), everyone in game would still have the same opportunity to use that mount.

Finally, why does it make me “entitled” to keep something that I earned through hard work?

** Unless you mean I should be entitled to keep it because I actually earned it (but I do not think that is how you are using the word)

The flaw in your argument is you’re comparing a mount that has something 24/7 without having to carry a ton of potions, buy potions, clutter up bag space, dismount drink a potion, re-mount, etc…

Yes, everyone should have to do an extremely boring grind to get ONE mount with a special power… or all mounts could just do the same thing, like we’ve had since the game came out…Mounts should be chosen for aesthetic, that’s why there’s so many. Not because of their super powers…

Because you can. Blizzard is giving people who earned the mount the water walking for mounts for free basically. You’re entitled because you want to be able to have 1 mount that has water walking and every other mount have other mount equipment which is literally what blizzard trying to get away from. They don’t want people forced to use the water strider to water walk.

Because you still get the water walking without having to grind it out. You just have to put it on your mounts. You’re entitled becuase you think you should have more mounts with more super powers than everyone else AND be able to have mount equipment for other things.

I heard it was hard to post on alts

I am legit surprised that you are legit surprised. I just use my strider to cross bodies of water. I like my Argent Charger until I can fly, however, I’m not one of the folks who is SO off-put by the strider’s appearance, I think it’s cute as a bug’s knee…and the rest of the bug I guess. 8)

So using your argument, the vendor, transmog, AH, 2+ seaters, Sky Golem, Underwater mounts all need to have their abilities taken away as they have so called super powers as well.

You’re also wrong here because in order for me to be “entitled” (using your definition), Blizzard would have to make an exception for just my mount and no one else would be able to have that special ability on their striders. Never once have I ever petitioned that I should be the only person keeping something I earned.

I believe that everyone who earned it should keep it.

This is also incorrect. Blizzard is giving me one set of consumable boots for characters above 100. I have to then purchase new sets should I change it out and I have to go to Panderia and purchase boots for any toon under 100.

You chose not to take the time and energy needed to farm the rep and purchase this mount and that is fine. I am not anti-mount equipment, I am anti-blizzard taking away things that people earned.

As I have mentioned in the previous thread, this change sets a precedent that everyone within the WOW community should be against. Today it is a mount you do not have. Tomorrow it might be all 2 seater mounts.

And this person calls others “entitled” because they actually earned what they want to keep instead of complaining they/others would have to earn it as well.

And yet one more person arguing against something NO ONE is arguing for. EVERYONE in this thread arguing to keep the strider as it is is FINE with every other mount getting the shoes ability. Yet people white knighting keep bringing this up as though anyone is arguing to stop mount equipment. SMH

you think you do, but you don’t. Just like flying in BFA. What you actually want to do is walk everywhere and phase in and out of reality as Blizzard continues to perfect their franchises for mobile play.

Water strider is necessary for nazmir

No it isn’t…… Says the class that can water walk with any mount. But seriously my DK isn’t the only character I have leveled through Nazmir and I can assure you I next to never use the ugly water strider if it can be helped.

It’s not my argument, It’s Blizzard’s. If you want every mount to have those, bring it up with them for mount equipment. :man_shrugging:
