It’s only “better” in those areas with a) lots of wide, deep bodies of water and b) no hostile mobs, since the water walking passive breaks as soon as you take damage from an enemy.
And there we have it folks, the audience blizzard is catering to. Just wait until they bleed over into vanilla when their game is a ghost town.
Mounts being equal doesn’t just mean no flying and no waterwalking, it means no two-person or three-person mounts, no vendor mounts, no auction house mounts. Not a single person, not even you, wants that.
This is the most over-powered mount in the game! Nothing like riding an angry chicken around!!
if mounts were equal you would have to get rid of the following mounts:
-
Yak – those who have it can always look their best while you don’t
-
Long Neck AH – I can use the AH on the go
-
Sandstone – Why ride a dragon when you and a friend can be a dragon
-
Chopper, Heart of Nightwing, x-53 – can’t have 2 people riding around in style
-
Hivemind – 5 friends sneaking up on you? Come on
-
Mammoth – I can buy stuff, sell stuff, and repair
-
Invincible and other vary rare mounts – Can’t have people riding around on something others don’t have, now can we!
-
Spectral Tiger and other TCG mounts – see above
I am sure I missed a ton of mounts that need to be “nerfed” so that all mounts are “Equal”.
“Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it”
So in the theme of BfA, we are taking a baseline ability and making it a talent.
Why not ground all flying mounts, and if you want your mounts to fly you have to add that ability in the slot? This way I can fly on my tigers and never have to use any other mounts.
While we’re removing the uniqueness of mounts, can the ability to walk on land be added to my water mounts? I mean I don’t get to swim faster when I ride them anyway. Plus, they would like to run on top of the water.
All joking aside, I like the equipment manager idea, but I do not think the water strider should lose it’s unique ability.
Transmogging has no advantage, so moot point.
If you’re using the AH while running somewhere AND have access to a mailbox at the same time, maybe. No reason to ONLY ride this mount over any other mount, though.
Not really an advantage in any way vs. those players just riding their own mounts next to you. If anything it’s a disadvantage as the other player loses control.
Once again, not really an advantage in any way vs. those players just riding their own mounts next to you. If anything it’s a disadvantage as the other player loses control.
Yes 5 of the same players you did the quest with are always going to be on at the exact same time and always be riding together in one mount to gank people.
Oh my god, what an advantage! Buying vendor items, selling stuff, and repairing! It’s almost as if there’s NO NPC’s everywhere you look that can do that exact same thing.
But they’re not even rare anymore. You can literally farm them tons of times every week. I got ashes of alar with very casual farming.
Also not very rare, I have two of them.
Giving water walking is WAY more of an advantage over any of those you pointed out. All your examples were just silly.
None of my friend’s characters are high enough level to fly. His mount won’t be ‘alongside’ mine, it’ll be far below (and he’ll be dazed off and under attack). The answer is not to pound the tall nails down, but to add more tall nails. Blizzard has a hammer and doesn’t want to give us any more nails.
It really depends on what you consider an advantage doesn’t it. For example, if you do not have the AH mount and that super special item shows up on the AH, those with this mount can immediately purchase it, while others have to travel to the main city (or xpac city if you’re an Engineer). That is clearly an advantage.
If I were a PVP’r, I’d be sure those I PVP with had access to my hivemind so we could sneak up on people. That is clearly an advantage.
And if my friends do not have fast flying or are below 60, mounts like Sands allows me to give them an advantage over new players. I can fly them to where they need to go, I can help them open up flight paths in zones they want to quest in, and I can get them to that rare faster than those who have to walk. That my friend is an advantage.
And while you may have been able to get super rare mounts super fast, there are people who have been farming them for years. I guess your “luck” is an advantage, so it should be removed as well because it isn’t fair that you have it and others do not. Correct?
As I stated all those points you made aren’t valid in my opinion and aren’t advantageous as mount movement speed, which…over water if you can walk on top of it is a hell of a lot faster than trying to swim through it on a mount.
They’re rare, they’re not any faster than any other mount though…so no, appearance is not an advantage.
But, it used to be. Back when my engineer first learned the fancy helicopter, it couldn’t be used until the fast flight was bought, and only that mount went superfast. The nerfing isn’t new, but it’s never welcome.
Doesn’t it all come down to what each person in this game considers an advantage? Clearly you only see walking on water as an advantage. I don’t.
At any point in this game, you could have gotten a water strider. It has not been limited to a special group of people. That nullifies the advantage part of it.
.
Then you’re wrong. Swimming on a mount in water is a LOT slower than walking on top of it.
Doesn’t nullify the fact that people feel forced to use it to walk across water, though. Which is the whole reason mount equipment is becoming a thing.
There have always been alternatives…
Let’s see, buying a ton of potions and filling up your bags constantly vs. a mount that has it indefinitely for free any time… what a GREAT comparison.
Well, that is the new system, so get used to it. You’ll want to have spares of all of the mount equipment available so you have “the advantage”.
He’s trolling.
It’s not even out yet, settle down. When it comes out I’ll just have water walking on my mounts and keep my goblin gliders. Honestly I’ve almost never been dazed off my mount, I really get completely confused when people try and use being dazed as a justification to add things like flying.
Of course, when someone combats you with a decent opinion you can’t argue they’re trolling. That’s everyone’s go to excuse, try harder.
he’s in every strider topic posting circle arguments. Obvious troll.
