It is - meant it partially as a joke; but also wanted to touch on the fact that I’ve never met anyone that genuinely likes how it looks - and most people actually don’t like using it because they’d prefer to use any of their other cool looking mounts.

If you are a hunter tame the one get water walking from the pet. any mount you want.
They made it character specific… that is a nerf.

You don’t get the speed boost using the pet ability. You are still running at regular speed.

Otherwise, the logical thing to do as everyone keeps pointing out, is leave the water strider alone like you are every other mount with a special use.
None of the excuses provided ring true. They all seem to be corporate speaking points used to justify a change that no one really believes in. The answers we are getting do not sync up with the arguments we are making.
The water strider doesnt break the game overall in any way out in the live world. If its being used in Mythics to get around certain dungeon issues - make that claim than stop mounts in that dungeon.
Every optic on this is “I am making this change because I want to despite anything you say”.
Apparently from the T&E video one of them does not have the strider and they were quite pleased to have the option. And yes, I am pretty sure one of the reasons for the equip mentioned was so new players / lazy players don’t feel forced to grind old content. Sooo… yes?

OH NO! The mount was used for it’s intended purpose! AND it was commonly used more often than the hundreds of other mounts! WE CAN’T HAVE THAT!
I use my Mammoth to repair and sell often so maybe we should remove those vendors. Oh, and I also use them to transport friends when they would play so I guess we need to get rid of the seats since I use it too much for that purpose.

You can easily get a water walking mount during a time walking event. The TW vendor sells rep commendations.

When it all shakes out on Live, odds are you will still need to grind Anglers Rep to purchase the item so still not a win for new/lazy players. And the price is likely to increase substantially to be in line with the crafted options and their likely AH price range.

My biggest issue (aside from why they can’t just make the WS like the Sky Golem) is that the WS mount has been around since MoP and they’re just now getting around to breaking it for being too OP?
Seems like a huge slap in the face™ to not only those who put in the effort to get it while it was current but also those who ran Timewalking dungeons solely for farming the rep if they didn’t already earn it during MoP.
At this point, why should any of us farm out anything worthwhile if they’re just going to retroactively nerf it whenever they please?

Or even buy things. Nothing of what we earn or buy in the game is truly ours but Blizzard does itself a disservice by revealing this.

Trust is earned through actions. If you look at past actions of this specific development team, you can see why many players have lost trust in them.
Some of us got the mount back when you had to grind the rep for it. It took a lot of time to do those dailies. But it was worth it because we got a special ability mount. One that I actually like a lot. I just read about the items again:
20 percent increase to ground mount speed.
That will be the only one I use, since the rest are situational (well, plus DK path of frost.)
The Sky Golem came out in MoP also by the way.
Yep 4 dailies a day and one was a Group that was a pain.
It shouldn’t make any difference whatsoever, what mount I use, to anyone else but me. I like the strider, I think it’s cute. I like it’s sounds, mechanics and stretching ability. I couldn’t care any less if others don’t like it, I don’t pretend to be one of the “cool kids”, and it makes no deference to me if you like it or not.
Leave my cute little bug ALONE.
