Water Strider Used Too Much?

I would love to have the option of having 1-3 of my mounts walk on water and wouldn’t mind paying for 1-3 pieces of equipment to make that happen.

I hardly ever see them unless I’m in Nazmir.

Even then - the route to Underrot and Uldir doesn’t really require water walking - so I never see them on my way to those 2 places.

It’s my default mount right now. Not because I need it for water walking that often, but just to annoy the people behind this change.

This would be an interesting way to protest.

Please! tell me where there is a constant need to use the strider in Voldum, drustvar and other places! There are few spots on the maps of Zandalar and Kultiras, except for Stormsong and Nazmir, who need more of the strider!
but tell me where we are using this mount more, except where there is real reason to use it? I sure do not use in drustvar! In Varshhj? Yeah!
All time? Nope!

Oh, stop with the back-biting useless comments about Blizz devs.

On-topic:
The only point that’s worth noting is that ANY mount can water walk. Others can be daze-free. Another set can be…something else, forgot.

And when we get flying or are in old zones with flying, none of those affixes matter. Why water walk when you can fly over it?

Only place I need water walking is fishing in DMF for lowbies. They can’t get the quest item from open water so they need to find those floating pools of crud.

But then the shaman and DK has spells. Priests can levitate. Mage has an iceberg. Warlocks and UD can ride underwater mounts. Others can raft. Legion fishing pole has innate water walking. Everybody carries water walking elixirs made by my alchemists. So many choices.

Give it a rest.

edit: learned something new - using three ~ makes the following text go in a text box with different raw font. Strange.

Like this.

Why do people keep saying this? The entire reason they created the equipment system was because of the water strider. If they left it the same then we would be in the exact same situation were you pick a different ability for your other mounts and then use the water strider for water walking passive.

Sorry but that is the truth. Now wipe the brown off your nose.

No, it’s nowhere close to “truth”. That’s just parroted hyperbole and your own warped imaginings that what you read on the internet is true.

You should wipe the brown stuff off your brain.

People don’t trust Blizz with the new mount system and consumables because of how they gate flying now.

Blizz has hurt themselves with poor decisions and have painted themselves in a corner now.

I have 3 mount hotkeys.

  1. The mount I ride because I actually like it.
  2. My yak, for the repairs and the merchant.
  3. The waterstrider.

I hate the waterstrider, but I use it all the time, because there’s freaking water everywhere, and the last 3 expansions have been spent without being able to fly for the first yearish of the expansion.

If they added more water walking mounts - we’d have more choice and the game would have more diversity.

If they had the equipment slots on a per mount basis - across an account - we’d have more choice and the game would have more diversity.

When I read about this change, I couldn’t believe it. I thought I had misread the post and the intention behind the change. But no, I got it right. Why not make every mount a flying mount, instead? Why take an ability away from a mount that people worked hard to get? Keep the strider as is, and let people buy the other equipment. People using it too much? That’s a real reason to change a mount’s ability?

Maybe if there weren’t so much water to traverse in this expansion, people wouldn’t use it. I rarely saw striders in Legion. I personally dismount from mine as soon as I can because it is too easily damaged and not robust enough to withstand getting dinged by the mobs I run through.

It is a bad decision which is common from these devs.

Actually, there is water everywhere!

I don’t mind the change, but if you don’t equip the water walking ability on the Water Strider, the name should automatically change to ‘Sad Strider’ and it should make a crying sound when used.

Look at those uncompleted questlines!

Because the two that are available are both from long, pain-in-the-butt grinds?

Actually, a friend of mine got hers in a few hours during a time walking event. You buy rep commendations.

This is subjective and has no bearing whatsoever on the issue at hand.

Aside from that, though, I agree with pretty much everything you’ve said. :facepunch:t4:

I am so sick of looking at this water strider for years! It’s ugly and I hate it and I’m so sick of it. I welcome anything that allows us more choice to hop on a new mount. We have things, not just the accomplishments but the actually items we barely use. Show off your mythic crap and your pvp crud, c’mon stop the nonsense, this is wonderful!
