I remember the boat that didn’t float. Do you? That was some good outrage there lol.
On medium population servers and below, unless you’re doing a particularly extra rewarding WQ, you’re not going to run into anyone most of the time when doing pve.
Game population is so low that even with CRZ sharing the game world is empty. Most people don’t use water striders because of fight whistles and hearthstones.
Just one person’s opinion.
I think your transmog looks terrible, but I suppose it’s probably status quo on MG.
But that’s just one person’s opinion.
Maybe even with people dungeon questing as well. Been a while since I leveled a toon though. I know the dungeon questing was nerfed a while back with 8.1 I think.
Why should we even bother grinding anything out any more? Blizzard wants us to play more well this decision will make me play less now. I have no desire to log in and go out and grind new stuff out anymore, They will just decide it’s not making us play long enough and make us go pay for it again, or regrind it.
So why go and grind out any new mount, pet, rune or any thing for that matter, Blizzard will just decide to may people are using it and take it away.
So glad they are giving me such a good incentive to work for stuff now.
The more I have thought about this the more it seems the solution really ought to be that the Water Strider is left with its innate ability to walk on water and is just not able to benefit from any other type of mount equipment, the same way that the Sky Golem is being left able to harvest while mounted but will not benefit from any mount equipment.
Leave the Water Strider alone, don’t strip it’s ability, and let people use the mount equipment on other mounts.
I could explain to you what conditions cause people to see things that aren’t there, but that comes too close to offering medical advice online.
Perhaps just see a therapist?
And now we know why that boat didn’t float.
If Blizzard had really wanted to see fewer striders around, they could easily have given the boat “water walking”.
But no, what they want is our gold and our freedom.
I have to disagree with you there.
That’s definitely not “just one person’s opinion”.
I want my water strider to retain its walk on water ability without shoes. Make it happen Blizz. Thanks! This was not broken before you decided to change it.
#Originality
There is one advantage that I really like, and that is the water walking ability can be attached to any mount. I personally don’t like the appearance of the water strider, so I would love to have a choice of mounts with the ability. Best of all, your multi passenger mounts could then walk on water. I don’t see any downside to this at all. You don’t even have to earn rep to have the ability any more, you just need to have a level 100 character, and I see that as a reasonable requirement.
@Kasim (I like your hat!)
Keep the water walking mount as it is and add mount equipment as planned. That’s all that needs to be done. No reason to take something away.
The simplest solution to resolve all of this. The system could be WAY better with almost any other option/idea - but at least this way the biggest negative of the current setup is avoided.
And then buy one of each item for all of your alts, and more of them if you want to change it out for different equipment and then change it back. Don’t have the rep? What if it costed 1000 gold with the discounted rate and 5000 gold for each pair of floaty shoes for those who don’t. You ok with that?

While this does sound like a conspiracy theory - it’s tough not to come to this kind of conclusion.
This is all so ridiculously saddening. I’m at a point in life where time is becoming more and more scarce.
I’ve loved this game since Vanilla - but if Blizzard doesn’t respect it’s customers’ time and effort, then I just don’t see a reason why I should continue giving them my money.
I’ve gone from a mindset of trying to figure out how to at least squeeze in progression raiding into my schedule going forward - to seriously just quitting on the principle of not giving money to a company that doesn’t care about it’s patrons.
The derogatory use of the term, “conspiracy theory” has always puzzled me.
Does anyone really believe that once people gain power and influence, they lose all ability to make plans to achieve their goals?
And are these plans always going to be ones they want the world to know about before they’ve even got halfway to their goals?

I’ve always seen the term more objectively. “They’re out to get our time and freedom” is an attempt to take more from us. Is this bad and derogatory? Depends. I view it more as objectively deducible and true, not necessarily with a “bad” or “good” label on it.
Soo I don’t get to keep the other cool mount equipment on because I need that slot to get back what I already had to begin with.
That’s like they take away your ability to feel the lower half of your body and then give you 3 choices.
1- make all vegie’s taste like junk food.
2- The ability to translate all language.
3- The ability to feel the lower half of your body again with a 5% power walking boost.
Most people would be funneled into picking 3 even though they would love to try 1-2.

That’s the “cost” with the new system.
