Water Strider Discussion

They are apparently going to be sold by the Anglers, rather than crafted. The blue post from earlier said that any character with the angler rep would get one free, and then you could buy the others at a discount, so they’re not going to be crafted.

It’s just nonsense at this point. What else are we going to lose next?
So many things wrong with BFA, but this is what the dev team decided to work on… astounding…

A better metaphor for ‘this game is sinking rapidly’ I cannot fathom… I don’t want to stop playing, I’ve been in the game since early 2005. I still have my first two characters (And I think all the others), I want to keep playing… but they seem determined to make it more and more miserable…

This makes me laugh .where did you get the ingredients to make the recipe without fishing?

The blog post also says that the " vendor where you purchased your Water Strider" will sell reduced priced shoes. Which makes the item just like other rep gated purchases (like flying and flying mounts) with a varying price depending on your rep level. Meaning if you don’t have the water strider now, you will have to grind Angler’s rep or pay out the wazoo. And it can’t be crafted since that would remove the bonus that players who grinded Anglers rep get and would piss those players off even more.

I worry this is a wag the dog situation and they plan to let the mount keep water walking. But have made this whole situation so that we go into a uproar and hyper focus on it. Meanwhile they sneak something Horrific past us.

To be honest Blizzard should treat all it’s creations equally, If the water strider looses it’s gift so should the gathering mount. Both should maintain it’s skill or both should loose but non of this half hearted stuff.

A fanboys answer. You don’t get it do you?

I am not anti flying …what I am is against removing what I damn well earned cause you snowflakes don’t like the Strider mounts…I damn well put in the work for those Striders and what they can do as water walking mounts.

Another thing that people seem to be overlooking is that this change gives Blizzard 100% control of how and where we can use mount equipment. By removing all water walking (especially on the water strider) they have gained another switch to flip such as:

Water walking mount equipment will not work in xyz zone or in a new expansion until you do xyz. Same thing as flying, they have created another way to control how we play. I realize we got 7 years out of this thing but if they didn’t want people to use the mount that walks on water, they shouldn’t have put it in the game!

Welcome to the new age.

game design problem like i said.

game design problem like i said

have you got a source which discredits the wowhead article?

  • Saddlechute : Equip in your mount equipment slot to install a emergency parachute that will deploy when dismounted high in the air.

  • Inflatable Mount Shoes : Equip in your mount equipment slot to allow you to walk across water while mounted. Any damage will cancel the effect.

  • Comfortable Rider’s Barding : Equip in your mount equipment slot to prevent you from being dazed while mounted.

These items will be made by professions

(note that last line)

Not sure if this came up already, but I saw a post elsewhere from someone who does not have the Azure one from Anglers, but rather the red one from Nat Pagle rep in the Garrison. Will he also sell the ME for waterwalking as well?

The water walking equipment is available in 2 ways according to wowhead.

Crafted, just like the other equipment items.

Those with the appropriate rep can also purchase from the vendor.

Edit since I misread the question. It hasn’t been stated how crimson owners will be treated as far as I can tell.

I mean… I’m a shaman soo…

Then you lucky because you’ll get the buff and waterwalking.

Just imagine if this stays, that somewhere down the line they decide to scrap the mount gear slots, so you again say “I mean… I’m a shaman soo…”

Then imagine a bit later when blizzard says “Well it’s not fair that only certain classes can water walk, so we are just going to remove the class abilities as well.”

Do you think the rest of the players will stick up for Shamans/DKs, or do you think they will just say “Well I don’t have water walking anymore, so it’s only fair that everyone loses it.”

I will never understand the mindset of people who think nerfs are okay if they only affect “other players”, and completely miss the point that it is only a matter of time until the nerf bat cycles back around to take away something you DO want.

If it gets to the point that blizzard is pruning class abilities like water walking, I doubt I would care, because I wouldn’t be playing.

They have already done it in the past numerous times. I am pretty sure that since vanilla just about every class has had at least one useful class ability either removed entirely, or nerfed into uselessness. Do you remember the cleansing totem?

Every time, this happens the players getting hosed complain while many who are unaffected call them whiners and/or say “Well it doesn’t affect me, so I don’t really care.”

I grinded the angler rep when it was current content and I fully support Blizzard’s changes re: the water strider. Good job, Blizzard!

The game visually looks terrible right now with everyone on a water strider.
