Yup, you go exploring and all of a sudden you come to water. Instead of just getting out your “water-strider”, you have to then make camp, log over to another toon. Send that toon to panda land, buy the equipment, find a mail box, mail it. Log back over to your toon. Find a mail box to get the equipment (because of course you’re not close to a town), get the equipment, then travel back to the area you’re questing in.
Bam… 30-45 minutes later you can quest

I’ll add in a me too here as well. First alt I’ve made in a while, and sure enough forgot about the lack of water walking on my WATER STRIDER.
If getting me to quit early for the night and play the game less was the goal of this change, mission accomplished!

Okay, this has probably been said but, Why did the water strider get water walking removed but the sky golem got to keep its herbalism affect?

Yeah… They need to remove the sky golem ability and make that mount equipment.

Because Blizz doesn’t like the water strider in particular. They also loathe the people who got the Strider from WOD instead of Pandaria since you can’t get the shoes unless you’re high enough rep with the anglers.

Still removed a rep reward that I earned when they cram rep down your throat every expansion. Why would I ever buy a rep reward again, will it be too ugly, or so OP that every mount will get it and I wasted my time and gold?

At the very least the concession they could have made was making the vendor for heirlooms carry the damn equipment. Flying out to Karasang Wilds as horde (since they moved the portal from the shrine of 2 moons to Honeydew Village) is absolutely terrible. Not to mention if you want to change out mount equipment on an alt for a temporary amount of time - you best stock up… It should be an account-wide flag where any alt can go buy from the heirloom vendor.

Yet, they didn’t make it a heirloom, which would have made all of us who did the work up front happy, and it would have encouraged those who cannot purchase it more motivated to go get the rep.
Since they did not take this step, it makes me keep my thinking that they will be removing the ability in the future.

Wait, do all of your guys mounts not walk on water?
First, shame on you for Necro’ing an old post guys. Secondly, why do you take this as a punishment? Being able to water walk on ALL your mounts is way better than just that ugly bug. I worked for the rep as well, and happily used all of the “free” tokens to get it on all my alts. Quit complaining about nothing.

Read the entire thread? Are you out of your mind? After reading a dozen or so that all said basically the same thing, I refuse to subject myself to that amount of faux outrage.
Really dead issue.
People were mad, though, because they “earned” the bug; So the bug not still “natively” having water walking made lots of people mad.
I’m still glad my Hunter got both bugs, at the same time (which actually seemed easier somehow, since same rep, or I imagined it was easier…) during timegates in Legion (along with all WoD reps to exalted, all MoP reps except the one you need to get in throne of thunder, WoD flying, etc.) My Hunter made pretty good use of Legion time gates… The bugs are +2 mount total, so still good.
Being DK, I have the parachute item on my mount (Hunter and Priest NEs have the water walking.) That parachute thing surprises me sometimes, fun 
Tell it to my level 20 alts who have to wait for me to log onto a specific character, schlep out to Krasarang, buy the stupid thing, and mail it to them, before they can water walk with the Waterstrider.

OMG, you had to do ALL of that??? So, if you had 30 minutes, what did you do with the other 23??
Be annoyed that I had to do more than drag the icon for the waterstrider I put the work in for in order to pay gold for to my bar? And for no reason other than the potential to screw us again in the future?
And be annoyed that I was paying gold AGAIN for something I’d already earned the right to pay gold for. I got no refunds, they only cut the feet off my mount and called it evolution.
