Water Strider Discussion

It was a bust of a system, which probably doesn’t bother them because they achieved their goal. They also increased the aggro distance of mobs so people would opt for the dazed equipment, making water walking go away.

They are achieving what they wanted to way back in Legion alpha.

Convenience was taken away.

On any alt, if I came across a body of water I wanted to cross, I could hop off whatever I was riding, hop on the strider, zoom across, and then go about my business.

Now, every new alt, I have to fly my main out to Angler’s Wharf, pay forty gold, and mail them a dumb thing. Every time I make an alt.

Five or so minutes and forty gold are taken from me, futzing around doing this whenever I want to make a new character.

Ok, but now you can use whatever mount you want to cross that body of water. What about sea mounts? You could just use those mounts that increase swim speed without having to fly over and pay 40 gold. Only sea mount you cannot use everywhere is the one you get from the vash’jir storyline.

And what if anti-daze is more important to me, or any of the other items? No more water walking mount unless I continue buying everytime there is no water and other enhancements are better. The problem with mount equipment is that it is per character. And Blizz devs did this so they can get rid of water walking all together including all the other equipments items and potions. Only then can we really enjoy their content one step/mob at the time. Doesn’t seem to be much water in this patch or SL and who cares after.

You always could. I farmed the rep for the mount so I would have it permanently. Just love the fact that everything is tied to rep now and then they turn around and take my rep reward away. And No i did not farm the rep to have a mount that sinks when it hits water, I had them already. I farmed a mount with permanent water walking and I no longer have that.

Honestly, water walking never should have been something a mount could have anymore. That skill should have stayed something that shaman and death knights could provide only.

Why not? I enjoy exploring Azeroth from the seas. You see a lot of cool things that the art department added to areas that you can only get to by swimming. The water-strider allowed me to go to places I wouldn’t go to before because of the time it took to swim there.

And when I only had limited time to play, the water strider allowed me to get to quests a lot faster, making the game fun.

Never been settled, not a dead issue. If it bothers you to read it, imagine how bothered we feel to write it.

It has been settled, you just don’t like the outcome.

Can this topic be closed? The water strider issue is one that really bugs me and it shouldn’t be dealt with anymore because Blizzard doesn’t give a darn.

Let them close it when they remove the herbing function of that ugly flying shredder and turn that into mount equipment.

Or

Return the water striders water walking.

You are right, we do not like the outcome. Keeping the discussion alive lets blizzard know that we do not like it and we would like them to fix the water-striders

People are not going to scroll through 6k posts to find out what people have to say about it. Just saying

That’s what control F is for, but fair enough. I’ll just gloss over it. Removing the function was the dumbest idea and there’s literally no reason we can’t have a working water strider and mount equips. All it is, is someone at blizzard being stubborn because they don’t like the Strider. I also feel cheated cause I did obtain it back in MoP and the compensation was a “free” water walking token which makes me feel like I wasted my time back then.

Hello. Actually, I have read through the better part of all these posts. Reading doesn’t bother me. The first posts were PTR-related. And many stated: ‘This is just a ptr test. it’ll never go live.’ Lots of comments about the Strider dominating the game, in leveling high or low. Think about that. It would mean everybody has it, meaning no new players… because you don’t hit lvl 20 and go out and buy a water strider. Lots of people felt/feel cheated? robbed? Actually, those people, all people who owned a Strider, (everybody? lol) , became marginalized. The effort we put in to get the mount = the cost of a pair of shoes. We, who had the Strider, were shoved aside, our mounts ability torn away, so the unwashed masses could have the magic of riding on water (but not on a strider, cause everybody had those, lvl20’s riding them everywhere). How did that work, us losing our mounts inbred ability somehow enabling almost every other mount to assume that ability. Was it a mystical thing, spiritual? Kinda like Jesus? The Strider had to give it up so all could have the chance. (if they got the money).
A Sacrifice, by the martyr strider… close… except it was us that sacrificed, and it was unwilling. but so unimportant, so marginal are we, it might not have happened.

Was leveling my fluffy fox this past weekend, and was reminded of how Blizzard screwed over all of my lower level and future alts with this stupid change. Water walking should have remained in the strider.

Also, this whole equipment system needs fixed. Make it by mount per character or something, if you really wanna add player choice. What we have now is low quality idea implementation. It reminds me of Elf where they published the book with two pages missing because he couldn’t be bothered to finish the story.
