Water Strider Discussion

Thank you, Jops. You have more patience for this nonsense than I do.

Going to miss seeing you around.

We know the decision wonā€™t be reversed. The developers have been trying to get rid of water walking since Legionā€™s Alpha. They have finally found a way to do it so that people will not notice until it is too late.

If you read back through both Water-strider threads, you will see that this is our biggest issue.

Yes, it is true that we do not want to pay for something we earned, even if it is a very small amount. But not because we need that 50 gold.

We do not appreciate Blizzard turning a permanent special mount ability into a temporary consumable that will disappear when 9.0 comes out.

there is no permanent ww ability.

itā€™s kind of the point of this thread.

Iā€™m still miffed my waterstrider is essentially just an ugly jarring mount whos only redeeming feature was taken away lol. I mean sure itā€™s neat being able to use other characters but this should of been an 8.0 feature when we were ground locked.

Death Knights have Path of Frost my dude, and most other classes have some form of water walking. Shaman, mages, warlocks, etcetera. Welcome to World of Warcraft, Mr. Level 78.

tell me all about this mage water walking.

(and it looks like youā€™ve only been playing for 4 years, so allow me to welcome you)

Wait! I have water walking? All this time and I never knew :open_mouth:

Benefit of the doubt means the reference is to waterwalking potions, which all classes haveā€¦

thanks for quoting that, the forum edited it out of my reply.

i was expecting it to be deleted before anyone saw it

those are very temporary.

Please accept my honest and most sincere apologies, based on the nonsense you were posting about ā€œno permanent water walking,ā€ I had assumed you had a legitimate reason for not knowing any better.

What makes you think your Path of Frost is any more permanent than the striderā€™s water walking? They can choose to remove that at any time; wouldnā€™t be the first class ability theyā€™ve pruned.

Maybe they will, but you can make that argument for literally anything in the game. Will there be a such thing as permanent ground walking in World of Warcraft within three months? Who knows really, but conjecture is useless without evidence. And since you might have missed the memo, water walking is still In World of Warcraft and itā€™s still accessible to all characters. Some freely, some not. Youā€™re making a nonpoint.

Donā€™t post nonsense.
Most classes do not have any form of water-walking ability.
Mages and warlocks certainly donā€™t.

All low level charā€™s that would have gotten access to the mount should get the glyph automatically in the mail no matter the level and upon creation.

As it stands now I am being charged 40 gold per char under 100 and for every char I make from now on.

Here is a new couch to sit on, gratz!! 2 years later, ohh we are going to have to charge you 40 bucks per new child you let sit on the couchā€¦ I hope itā€™s ok.

Blizzard went to cablevision territory on this one, I am still not happy. Itā€™s a change that gave me nothing and only amounts to me paying for what I already had.

Upon further inspection, looks like mages donā€™t have access to their pots anymore, and warlocks no longer have glyph of nightmares. So I will amend my list to not include those two classes, as it appears their access to water walking was removed in 2016.

With that said, itā€™s still silly to try to portray this discussion as water walking being removed. What we are discussing is economic restriction, not access prevention.

Wait! So youā€™re saying that we will have to crawl to get places and perhaps have to use a piece of equipment that allows us to walk?

Slippery slope indeedā€¦ first they take away our mountā€™s special ability and then they take away our ability to walk. Guess that would really increase the time played metric.

Actually, the majority of this discussion thread and the other discussion thread has been about access prevention. The current developers have been trying to remove water walking for a long time and this is the first step to make that happen.

If you have a water strider, then goodie for you. You are still able to walk on water using the mount equipment that was mailed to you to compensate for breaking your strider.

But if you didnā€™t previously have a water strider, youā€™re just screwed.

Letā€™s seeā€¦ So farā€¦ devs have removed:

  1. power leveling
  2. dungeon leveling
  3. loot options
  4. flight (I consider PF flight removal)
  5. water walking
  6. FUN
  7. ability to use Xmas laff toy on other faction
  8. FUN
  9. ability to farm all drops legacy gear -11 levels
  10. Did I mention FUN?
  11. Scare beast and other fun CC effects
  12. FUN

Retail is more like a crap part-time job than a game. So glad to be playing in Old Az again.

Hello random visitor #4876.

only our higher level characters were sent ā€œfreeā€ equipment.

this is entirely incorrect.
If you didnā€™t previously have a water strider, youā€™re now able to access water walking equipment, because in todays world, we canā€™t have people being not equal.

I MISS EYES OF THE BEAST ON LIVE!!! And their excuse not to add it back was that they accidentally deleted the code for it. Now they have Classic to re-add it, but Iā€™m pretty sure they wonā€™t.

And back on topic, which is wonderfully still alive, WE WANT OUR WATER STRIDERS TO STRIDE ON WATER WITHOUT HELP!

Iā€™ll quote an old post of mine with what I consider awesome ideas to help this ā€œfeatureā€ not be garbage, so they get a little spotlight. Those interested, just click the little arrows next to my name below this
