Water Strider Discussion

If they actually used this as an excuse…my god, how do they think that “we’re incompetent buffoons who don’t keep backup copies of our code” makes them look BETTER?

Every character who knows riding should be mailed the equipment.

I still say it’s a clear nerf and it’s hugely disappointing that Blizzard simply stuck their fingers in their ears and said to those of us offering feedback ‘meh, go to the vendor.’

It’s a huge nerf. They don’t work right on my pureblood firehawk. When I get in combat I need to find some land and re-mount in order to get the water walking functionality back. With the water strider, prior to the nerf, I just had to jump and it’d get right back on the water.

It’s stupid that the pureblood fire hawk, cloud serpents (who don’t even have feet to walk on water with!), etc. can walk on water (albeit nerfed and with equipment), but the water strider (the name implies walking on water) requires equipment to do what its name implies.

Mount families would’ve been far better than this disaster.

Tried the system change and I gotta say…I love it! I really do, it was a great idea that is perfect to shred up and put at the bottom of my cat’s litter box!

Seriously they went cablevision sneaky on this change and it needs to be reverted! No company ever wants to be at cablevision levels!

I was unaware that the equipment was available to everyone. Glad to hear it, since I got free stuff in the mail. (I had a ws) and spouse did not. :frowning:

If you don’t have the rep to get water walking shoes from the Angler’s quartermaster, then you can get the crafted version from the auction house (assuming there’s a crafter on your server making and selling them).

Yes, I just checked that out… very expensive. Happily one of my toons has the rep. TY for the 411

So who’s ready for sky golems to loose their herbing ability? Everywhere I go there’s tons and tons of them. It also doesn’t help that because you can herb before a monster can attack and knock you out of the mech, you can collect more herbs per hour. This has had disastrous effects on the herb prices in my server and seems a little hypocritical considering water strider most likely never had as much of an impact on herb prices.

I am all for this. If the water strider I had to work hard for had to lose its ability for a gold sink then the herb gatherers should too.

Or they can just give water walking back to the water striders.

This seems like wild speculation… if it’s not, provide how you came to this conclusion.

They did, in one of those horrible Q&As Ion used to do. It’s coming back for Shadowlands, though, so I’m happy

EDIT: Back on topic, let Water Striders stride on effing water, ffs!

I agree, the Golems are ugly, make horrible noise and you see them everywhere. They meet every criteria water striders did when they were nerfed so nerf them too.

As a sky golem builder (can make 25 per month), I don’t like this idea. Can you guess why? I have an issue with the strider though. The blue one can be earned at 90. Why don’t my alts under 100 get the shoes?

Do the opposite. Unnerf Water Striders to the same spot Golems are!

Blizzard? Buffing something? snicker

Still, it makes no sense for a water strider, a freaking mosquito, to need inflatable shoes to walk on water!

You know that will never happen. When Blizzard takes something they very seldom ever give it back.

And when they do, like the Caverns of Time portal, they draw attention to it immediately and wait for people to jump on it. There’s been no mention at all of the strider getting un-nerfed. Anyone going to the next expansion should probably stock up on waterwalking potions.

Your position appears to be based on the assumption that a character who becomes level 100 will get a free water walking item in the mail. Do you have evidence that this happens? I don’t have any toons near that breakpoint to try it myself.

Does anyone care about mount gear? Yeah.>.>…you want to make ground mounts interesting? Take a look at how GW2 does it.
