Water Strider Discussion

“But first we need to turn all of their classes into dumpster fires and make their travel as tedious and annoying as possible by taking away everything they love.”

Before I leave, this is one thing that I wanted to ask you.
What is a “wrong choice” mount? Do you have an example of a choice that I’ve made that is an incorrect or improper choice of mount to ride? A choice that I made Intentionally?
There are no “wrong choice” mounts, only limited options. Options that are accessible to every player who does the content long enough or well enough to be rewarded. So why not open the mount equipment system to more options by making it mount specific account-wide, not character specific mount-wide. I want a water walking strider. I don’t want a water walking horse because I play my DKs for that option. I also don’t want a water walking bear, hog, pig, lizard, motorcycle, meat wagon, etc. Once again, DKs for that ability, if I wanted it. But with the design of this new system, I have no choice but to have all of those mounts waterwalk, just because I want the water strider to function as is, so they all now become water walkers. And there’s no way to remove/delete that without burning some other mount equipment perk to replace it.

Great post. It’s a shame no one from Blizzard will read it.

I don’t have 2 cool mounts that walk on water anymore. now they all do. what a waste of time for developers.

Pretty much this. The water strider quest chain was something to be worked for and heaven forbid we have any RPG elements in this game. EVERY class has water walking now and every mount can water walk. It is one of the dumbest waste of dev time I can imagine other than the work they do with mission tables.

it seems all we will be paying our respects to is our water walker’s water walking ability.

And it appears we’ve all given up…

Some have, I’m sure. There was also an explosion of threads about this, just within the last 24 hours. Many posters in those threads had just learned of the change, and expressed proportionate outrage.

I imagine we will continue to see some pushback for a while, even though a lot of players will move on to focus on the new zones, and to work on Pathfinder 2.

I, for one, will continue to ride my beautiful strider.

Its patch day. There will be a lot of people learning of unexpected changes. And some if those may actually take the week to realise.

Sometimes you have to let the new car smell wear off.

The Strider change makes no sense, what’s the point of removing it to just give us an item to make it walk on water again? Could’ve just left it there, it literally changes nothing except letting other mounts walk on water.

Later gating.

They can’t put the equipment for later expansions behind a time-wall if we have the strider. They tried to outright kill it once before and we won…

players have passion and dedication.
Blizz has pride and spite.

We lose.

there is only one golden rule: he, who has the gold, makes the rules

They have the digital gold, but we have the cash that pays them.

I bet they have more influence on how to get that outa our pockets then we wish them to have… I dont think this was done for player benefit and mostly for benefit of boosting “playtime” stat.
It feels the same as getting rid of flying for gold thing.

To me, this looks a bit cheap. Instead of designing systems and world to make it more engaging and fun, they are trying to boost gametime with artificial time gating and annoyances. – i might be wrong, but it sure looks like it.
