Water walking horses, water walking horses everywhere. ;_
What will be most immersive of all is water walking brontosaurs, traveler’s tundra mammoths, Tmog yaks and lightforged warframes.
Ha! And water striding mechanohogs!
I’ll be using my Angler’s raft on this toon, barring that will have a strider pet out for its ability Surface Trot. Mount equipment will be anti-daze, unless they nerf the goblin glider which he has as the engineering tinker on cloak.
DH will use water shoes only since he can spec tank for anti-daze, and has wings for falling.
Mage will use water shoes, ice barrier for anti-daze (unless Blizz sneaks that nerf in), and has slow fall for falling.
I always wondered what everyone was complaining about with being dazed by mobs. It happened to me occasionally, maybe once a game session, but nowhere near enough to be of concern. It felt like everyone was complaining about a really minor issue.
Now I realise it’s just that I have Ice Barrier up most of the time. For example, I always cast it before mounting up. Not because I knew it prevented Daze, but because it soaked up the damage from all the miscellaneous mobs as I rode through (and because it would then be closer to being off CD when I stopped to attack a mob).
Ehehehehe.
in 8.2 … that would have stopped protecting you. Blizzard nerfed the absorbs ability to prevent daze/dismount.
But after it splashed across Wowhead, Blizzard pulled a “whoops, um, we didn’t mean that” and ‘fixed’ it.
It would have been very unpleasant had that slipped through.
My personal opinion from my play experience says the opposite. The golem has a direct effect on gathering productivity. It increases your potential gold gain and has flight in areas it’s enabled allowing you to bypass mobs AND water; while the striders only negate the movement speed penalty of crossing water while traveling on the ground.
What’s wrong with getting everything we earn?
Free. It’s already been paid for when the mount was earned.
No, but they should have everything account bound that the account earned. Are heirlooms safe? Every other mount? Pets? Toys? Various content unlocks (pathfinder/intro skips/etc)?
This goes to both of the previous two quotes about alt price/access: We’ve been able to get current content gear for alts through BoA tokens at multiple points in the game with another coming soon, but alts can’t get free water shoes?
Not nearly as often as other mounts. What is “used” would need to be defined. Do you want distance traveled or most often summoned? All my characters use the repair mount quite often, but it doesn’t really leave the spot I summon at. They all have their mounts (many times to go with mogs/themes). Strider, X-53, repair, transmog, swimmers, flight, and style… my mount depends on the area and reason for summoning.
When do we get access to the auctionhouse, transmog, gathering, passenger, and repair mount equipment?
I’m pretty sure that trying to put stuff up for sale, or taxi a friend, on my violet protodrake would be the wrong choice.
If the striders were given the same treatment as the golem, no change to function and no benefit from the system, this whole issue could have been avoided. The fact that other mounts are keeping their perks shows that it’s possible. The striders are the only ones being hit. There’s more going on behind the curtain that’s not being said.
Squishing doesn’t remove items paid by currencies and effort, as well as limiting choices in order to restrict choice and slow down gameplay. Nice try at misdirection of the actual issue though.
Just another step in Comrade Ion’s pogrom to homogenize this former game into oblivion, so everyone can feel like a winner.
You raise some great points in your well thought out post.
I would say my Transmog mount is the one I summon the most. Each week I farm old content for mounts and I use it multiple times in and out of the raids, along with every time I come back from doing my dailies.
I also like your point about the “wrong choice”. You are correct, we have to use specific mounts for the specific tasks they were designed for. I personally think it would be silly and “un-immersive” to see a huge Brutosaur running across the sea.
I also think it is terrible that they are charging people for an ability they have already earned.
California. I tell ya…
I live in California, so I hear you there!
Condolences. Get out while ya can. That place is headed for some bad times.
I’ve lived here all of my life, but it is indeed getting bad. If you want to see socialism fail, just look to CA. Crime rate, homeless rate, taxes, regulations all keep heading
But like taking the water-strider’s water walking ability away, it is good for all of us, right?
On a side note Blizzard will be switch all old grainy vanilla transmog pieces to sparkly newly re-done ones… Enjoy.
Ohh wait nm no one will because sometimes you like the charm of the old stuff and it fit’s better with certain things. But hey who cares, Blizzard hears you and will simply toss out all old transmog gear and force you to buy it again from a vender in the new format. No worries if you already had it you will be given a dirt cheap price.
Also you may now only use one expac erra at a time in your mogging. None of that mixing era’s stuff. We want to create meaningfull choices.
“You will take what we say is good for you and like it! You just don’t know you like it yet! You don’t really NEED that mount now do ya? Problem? To the GULAG!”
“I don’t understand, why are so many people leaving the game when we’re making such great, healthy decisions with our game direction?”
“They’re just cyclical players that are taking a break. No, our timegating and design philosophies haven’t turned them into cyclical players, it’s just current year.”
“All the subs are gone and I just got my pink slip. This is the player’'s fault for not understanding our grand vision.”
everyone gets a trophy maybe 2 trophys
