My cat will be so depressed she loved watching the water strider and listening to it’s pidder patter.
I don’t see how choosing which mount I want to have water walking is making the game unpleasant to play.
I’m tired of being tied to the waterstrider and the goblin shredder.
This is the best thing they’ve done since forever.
Well you’re still going to be tied to the shredder.
We’ll see, I think they will add an option down the road.
Says the player who has neither waterstrider showing in their mount collection.
You must be riding it on another BNet account I suppose.
No One wants to take that option away from you.
Blizzard is just telling me they do not respect my time and effort and gold I put into working for something. So I have lost all respect for them.
This is my main account, I also play on my cousins account who is into grinding more then anything.
Agreed. At least with skinning, herbalism and mining.
Even though it requires anglers reputation?
I farmed that rep for one reason and one reason only, the permanent water walking mount. I use potions every day before that. I though it was awesome. It’s what got me into farming rep and fishing.
Now I know mounts have a expiration date, So I will not be buying any more mounts from rep vendors or the shop.
You still have water walking tied to the rep, I don’t see what the deal is.
I don’t see how your effort is wasted.
Im not seeing the issue? The entire point of the system is to offer alternatives to specific mounts.
Allowing the Water Strider to maintain its waterwalking ability while also allowing it to take on another equipment, such as slowfall, would be blatantly OP and would ensure once again that players only utilized Water Striders which runs contrary to the point of mount equipment.
To the people complaining about their billionaire status 40 gold, I did the OG pally quest and spent thousands on skill training when that was still a thing. There was no refund. Get over it.
I’m all for criticizing bad decisions made by Blizzard as there is a literal mountain of them, but this is not the hill to die on.
I get one consumable piece of equipment on the character I farmed the rep on and they are giving me the privilege to buy as many as I want for a reduced price. I just love buying something I already had and worked for, for all my alts over and over again.
Welcome to the discussion.
First, you get one character-wide Mount Equipment slot. It affects ALL regular ground mounts. You don’t get to pick and choose what mount gets what equipment.
As a warlock you, like me, will hopefully not need no-daze after they fix the nerf to it in 8.2. You will, however, almost certainly find SPEED mount equipment far far more desirable.
So, goodbye water walking passive.
Water walking from potions/equipment is weak. It gets dispelled by any FALLING damage. (striders don’t).
In the likely event that you have to remount while swimming, you must manually choose a SMALL mount or you won’t be able to jump back on top of the water. Something Striders didn’t have trouble doing.
The removal of an in-game effect that is free to all characters and then is being sold back to you to have a similar effect.
It like free refills of your favorite name brand beverage being replaced by paid refills of the establishment’s generic version.
It’s incredibly cheap, and now you can decide what mount to water walk on.
I don’t see how having more cosmetic options hurts you.
It seems more then anything you hate how the uniqueness is getting taken away, you want a permanent pillar that means something.
Even if it’s existence by default makes other mounts functionally obsolete, with the gear system you can take the freedom back.
And for those of us that spent thousands on skill training?
Or gathering the items for our class mount quest?
They’ve never given a refund and the fact that it’s only 40 gold is mind blowing to comprehend how one could sit and complain about it.
40 gold. Go out and do 1 quest at max level in 45 seconds.
What does skill training have to do with this discussion?
It resets every expansion.
I stopped caring about the cost some time back.
I’m just annoyed that keeping the ability to water walk from now on is a perpetual cost paid for in lost bag space.
Dawg. The entire discussion is centered around having to buy the 40g water walking equipment. How is skill training, back when it cost A LOT of gold, not relevant to this discussion?
There was no refund given then when the cost was astronomical in comparison, why would the playerbase be up in arms about 40 gold?
The only valid complaint imo.
