Unfortunately, I believe you are correct. They will not ever admit that it is a contested idea and revert it now that they have spent so much time and money to create it.
They’ve been wanting to nerf the strider since legion and believe they have finally found a way.
I thought, this morning, that perhaps they are trying to get people to stop playing because they have run out of story ideas and just want to stop trying.
That would help explain the horrid story they have been giving us…
And the fact they are removing so many things that keep us playing.
Sounds like the only way to get Blizzard’s attention anymore is by getting wowhead to front-page the issue in a way that gets people riled up.
I have the feeling fewer people cancel over something like this, than say they will.
My Sub runs out in late June or early July, so I will have time to see if they indeed ring out this stupid ‘nerf the strider’ idea… If they do, I won’t resub, with the exception of maybe a month to get pathfinder 2 complete if I need the time.
But that’s the thing. You can already tell a select handful of people only see the smoke and mirror so called “upside” of being able to gear their mounts.
Then a few others who won’t have their tender eyesight burned by seeing so many being used.
But the newness of the patch, new content, new raids and fights, and the pursuit of flying, will choke out a lot of the consequences this mistake should actually render. I’m sure this is by design.
The battle for retention is one that takes place between hope and despair.
Burnouts look for reasons to free themselves from something they no longer enjoy and any easy targets will become “The Reason” whether it’s trivial or not.
I know burnout. Been there. For me, this isn’t the same, this is me having lost faith in Blizzard’s decision making processes. And they need to pull a mighty awesome rabbit out of a hat to turn that around.
Because lingering on “hoping it’ll get better” is proving to be a massive disappointment so far.
I do believe you have come up with the new name for our strider: The Nerf Strider.
I purpose water sinker… since it doesn’t walk on water now
Leave our Striders ALONE.
It sure seems they are trying to get people to stop playing. To me it doesn’t make sense since there are millions of people playing and why would they want to lose all of those people.
I also believe they think that Classic will be their savior because it will bring back those who left to play on private servers (more subs), and I do believe in the short-term it will. However, those million + players who play private servers play for free, so unless they keep rebooting stuff in a timely manner, those people will go back to their free servers.
Just back away for the Strider…slowly.
It would seem they want to rebuild wow from the bottom up.Get rid of retail and would save money to build it with the same engine, win -win situation.
But they forget who funding the game.Their esport is nothing more than a trend ,a fashion for a time, the real investment comes over time not as a moneyfall from heaven,of which they should know this.
Investment in the game over time is far more of a commitment ,it’s a life ambition, especially if it is lasting and meaningful, same apply to a player c.i.p. with the water strider.
This is me. I’m not burned out, I have no faith that anything will get better and watching them continue to do things like this doesn’t bring my faith back.
I still love this game and enjoy many aspects of it. But those are becoming fewer and farther between with no hope in sight for anything to change for the better.
My sub runs out on Oct 19th. I’m hoping that I’ll see something in these last 5 months to give me a little glimmer of faith again but I just don’t think it’s going to happen.
It’s sad, so many people are excited for mount equipment and completely fail to see what is being taken away.
But when they are happily running thru monsters without being dazed and then come to the water they will start to know. Then as days progress and they realize how many times those tricky puddles drown them they will slowly realize what they traded for this shiney new system. And by then it’s far too late, because once it’s in it take nothing short of a all out protest to change and after that a year of waiting.
It will set a precedent, and not just for mounts. It also sets a precedent for the removal of existing content and then re-introducing it with a currency attached to regain the same ability.
This is why I cannot accept the terms once this goes live.
And I have my doubts as to the functionality of the mount equipment slot in future expansions. Not that it won’t be used, but that it will require reaching max level on a character before it becomes activated in current content.
This sums it up. At this point, I can see the end of my time in Azeroth. And it’s going to come long before the servers shut down.
I am subbed until the end of August, and I hope that they get their act together. I love the game and the friends I have made. I’m sad that they just take stuff away and have created a big slot machine game instead of meaningful content that advances the story.
Add Sea Turtle to the list of mounts (that’s now 2 mounts total) that don’t make use of Mount Equipment. Why? Who knows?
I NEVER thought I’d lack motivation to play Wow or wonder if it was worth buying the next expansion.
I have not leveled all my alts this xpac.
I am tired of travelling on the ground, I am tired of farming 15 of every mat for my feasts ( and that’s rank 3) instead of the 3 required for last expansion, the story is so bad I can’ t follow it and parts make no sense or contradict each other.
I keep hanging on hoping that ‘next patch’ will be better, will give me something to say: Ok here we go.
But so far only disappointment.
And I never thought I would have to search for a reason to play.
I’m not having much luck finding one.
I have the feeling fewer people cancel over something like this, than say they will.
I’m not going to cancel over a single thing like this issue. However, all this stuff keeps piling up. When it gets to be too much, I’ll leave. By then it won’t matter what Blizz does to fix anything because once I’m gone, I’m not going to come back. I’m sure I’m not the only player who only quits once.
Spit in the face to those that worked for a strider
I think the term you’re looking for is “slap in the face.” We need to agree on and apply a uniform terminology for our complaints or how should we expect Blizzard to know we’re unhappy with something?
No waterwalking with the Sea Tortoise? That’s strange, I was going to use it in defiance…
