Water Strider Discussion

You can keep telling yourself that, but it really isn’t. Insignificant differences from the old system to the new that you’re blowing way out of proportion.

Skitter skitter.

Geesh,I hope they don’t think that :open_mouth:

Usage is now account bound. You only have to have lvl 1 MOP fishing. Not sure when it changed, but it has been that way for awhile now.

That would put me off of spiders if I didn’t hate them already. But the noise was more like a stampede sound vs a water-strider sound

I have tested everything on the PTR and as of my testing, and it is a fact:
when you jump into the water and take damage you sink

  • when you mount large mounts in the water you cannot jump out of the water in order to walk on water
  • toons under lvl 100 do not get a free set of boots
  • if you mount a large mount before going into the water and take any damage that breaks your water-walking you cannot regain it on that mount

Well that helps.

It’ll probably take me almost 2 hours to get each and every one of my alts out to Halfhill / Angler’s Wharf so they can buy one skill point of MoP fishing… what a fun use of my play time.

(Not sure the slightly closer one at Peak of Serenity is still around for non-monks after the Legion bombed the place)

The (in)significance of these downgrades is, yes, a matter of opinion.

The fact that they are downgrades remains.

More nerfs incoming. Probably to entice use of other equipment besides inflatable shoes.

Well that’ll make WarMode gank squads happy.

And yeah, already feeling that lovely “whoops, a trivial mosquito bit my ankle … Now I’m DAZED & DISMOUNTED!” sensation on the PTR.

DO

NOT

WANT.

What utter garbage. Thanks Blizzard.

Just one question, whats a Water Strider named that cannot walk on water since you are removing its water walking ability, either keep the mount as it is or rather change the name to Azure Strider or Crimson Strider

“The Ah… ‘Sure as Scat Can’t Stride on Water’ Strider”

Maybe they’re a “Flail helplessly because I can no longer walk on water” strider.

I am close to quiting this game. I have ESO, and at least they work to IMPROVE gameplay for players not look for ways to screw them over. This is yet ANOTHER time that Blizz should listen to the old saying ‘If it’s not broke, don’t fix it.’

I do NOT need more gold sinks, I do NOT need more time sinks, and I do NOT need to waste more time trying to get from point A to point B. ESPECIALLY with the bug that randomly dismounts you if you’re on a flying mount flying somewhere and go into LfR/LfG.

THAT should be what you’re worried about Blizz. Not 'How do we screw our players over more to expaind our play time metric."

LOL. How many of us predicted that this type of thing would happen so that people would have to choose something other than water-walking. One would almost think that Blizzard doesn’t want people to enjoy playing their game. :woman_shrugging:

This is how I feel, also.
I remember a very long time ago when we had a keychain with all the keys to the raids we’d worked our butts off to get. We even got an achievement “Keymaster”.
Well, they decided we didn’t need those keys anymore so they took the keychain, the keys and the achievement…didn’t even make it a legacy achievement or feat of strength.
Just - poof - all gone.
The forums lit up like a Christmas tree. We have not forgotten the frustration of losing that which we had worked so hard for.
So we are asking you:
Don’t take the water strider’s water striding ability away.
You have the abiltiy to let it keep it’s innate ability while not allowing any other equipment be applied to it.
That is all we are asking.
Keep the equipment in the game as planned.
But leave our water strider out of it.
That’s all we are asking.

The significance of the changes is opinion, yes. Yours and mine differ on that fairly significantly.

That there are changes is fact, regardless of the significance one finds in the changes themselves.

What you find to be insignificant without actually testing, or having any real knowledge of, is of little to no significance to me…that is also a fact.

Happy Gaming!

My gaming is overjoyous these days, thanks.

Tell me do you also enjoy helping Blizzard to the idea that we did propose this mount system they are implementing .

And now for everyone who didn’t care about anyone losing “thier stupid water strider”:

Absorbs No Longer Prevent Being Dazed on 8.2 Rise of Azshara PTR

posted 11 hr 45 min ago by [Squishei]

With mount equipment coming to Patch 8.2 Rise of Azshara, we’ve found that absorbed damage no longer prevents players from being dazed and being dismounted when being hit by melee attacks from behind.

Because of the common Azerite Power, Resounding Protection, this change may have been added to make the upcoming Comfortable Rider’s Barding, Mount Equipment more appealing, and competitive with other Equipment such as Inflatable Mount Shoes Water Walking.

What is Daze?

Ever tried running through a pack of mobs on a mount and got snared or dismounted? That’s Dazed. When a mob hits a player from the back, it has a chance of applying the Dazed debuff, instantly dismounting the playerand applying a 50% snare. Currently, if the attack is fully absorbed, it cannot daze you.

This means that effects which grant absorption shields would greatly reduce or entirely negate being dazed, allowing players to freely run through packs of mobs without a care in the world. This includes items like Legion’s Prydaz, Xavaric’s Magnum Opus, Diamond-Laced Refracting Prism Resounding ProtectionAzerite Trait, which could be used while World Questing to avoid ever being dazed.

I…can’t parse that sentence. Not being insulting, just really have no idea what you’re asking.
