The water strider feet when ground into a fine powder can be used as a highly effective male enhancement drug that increases the size by 50%. Blizzard wants to cut off the feet of these mounts to sell it on the black market.
I know this is th epopular opinion, but I disagree. Its not about time. It about control. The devs want to control where you go. They are not happy with just rails, they want to control when, where and how you go from oone place to another. They want to put obstacles in your path with no way around them; only through them using the ony way they want you to beat them.
Its not about extending time. Its about controlling player behavior. Not in a good way. They want to remove all freedom so they can control outcomes.
I agree itās about controlābut they also want to force us to spend more time traveling. They want to control how quickly people do the content, and slowing us down travel-wise is part of their strategy.
No you have 700+ mounts that can walk on water. water walking potions have been in this game since Burning Crusade. Every Mount in the game can walk on water, Just have to make the potions, Which can be made with a level 1 alchemy shed, with free mats you can get in the trading post for resources blizzard gives you in the Garrison. Can also get them from the burning crusade fishing daily out side of shatt, or you use to thatās where i got a lot of them.
Unfortunately the precedent was set with Pathfinder.
They wanted flying removed in all future content.
Well, it has been removed in all current content which satisfies them.
Now itās the water strider.
What will be next?
Mage ports and lock/dungeon summons get 1 hour CDs on caster and user.
Flight paths get TSA and a schedule. Missed the flight? 15 min and the next one goes out! Better get there an hour early so the flightmaster can check that your gear is high enough ilvl for the destination zone and your rep is at the required rank!
Sadly Iām not sure if I should be joking like the post you quoted and this oneā¦ Ideas have to come from somewhere and I donāt want them saying āIt was suggested by a player on the forums and we liked the idea.ā
Off topic: I honestly donāt mind pathfinder in concept with all my alts. Just the time gating aspect sucks.
I know this is boring. Iām sorry.
We just feel like we are locked in a echo chamber talking to ourselfs and the fact is we are. But we canāt let this echo chamber fall down on this list however much we are bored talking about this.
Because it is wrong to randomly take back the things you make otherās earn. It is wrong to write sneaky things in just to you can remove more later. And we canāt let them get away with it even though it seems like such a small thing.
We have to shake this echo chamber till the accountants become concerned and sick the Devās. If we donāt the scummy little changes to stuff you earned will continue forever.
This.
My son introduced me to this game back in vanilla.
He quit for various reasons, class nerfs and flying nerfs mainly.
Iāve been trying to get him to return and he was considering it.
When this baloney with the strider started, I was telling him how disappointed I was that bliz was trying to break the striderā¦a mount he remembers.
It brought up that bad taste he has for the way bliz handles the gameplay, and dropped the idea of returning to the game.
Although he did convince me that there might be a couple of games worth trying when I let my sub run out, should they go live with this ridiculous change.
I donāt mind Blizzard adding things each expac and then taking the stuff they donāt like away at the end of the expac. But I do mind when they take long standing things that have lasted thru several expacās and try to change them. I think they missed their window of opportunity to do what they wanted concerning the water strider and Iām sorry but now they have to suck it up and live with it. Too much time has passed, they need to walk away and just use what they learned in the future.
Whose fault is that? Bliz is a company that has created a humongous fantasy game with a crap-ton of mounts to ride onā¦yet theyāve only managed to creatively design less than a handful of them that possess unique abilities.
And their only solution to this apparent lack of foresight is to break one mountās ability thatās been available for 6 years, and give us the equivalent of a āgemā system?
Thatās ridiculous.
This mess is their own fault. The simple solution to all of this, would have been to use a couple of brain cells and design other mounts with the abilities theyāre now offering, and let us grind away to obtain them.
Soā¦the water walking, bouncy bug was a bad idea? So to āfixā this bad idea, we have to rip away itās uniqueness, give people an equip item, so they can have water walking on ANY mount they want?
That is a āgoodā idea?
Iām sorry, I donāt mean to flame you but I find that logic ridiculous.
I see that as selfish. Youāre fine with breaking the ability of this one mount, so we can āequalizeā abilities for all these mounts.
You arenāt okay with the golemās herbing abilityā¦break that too, you say.
I think itās a glaring, selfish, entitlement attitudeā¦that canāt deal with the fact things arenāt always easy and exactly the same across the board.
But more than that, I think bliz failed miserably to see the writing on the wall about their own failures and lack of design elements.
regardless of the pros and cons of removing the ability to walk on water from water striders and able to add that ability to any other mount, the bottom line is rather simple >> :
it is nothing more than a multi-use gold sink for every player of every realm/server on both factions
You say itās not okayā¦ But offer no reasoning to back it up. Just āitās badāā¦ why?
And there aināt nobody running around with 700 mounts. Years of obsessive mount collecting had gotten me just over 400 (not all useable on the same alt). Not that quantity or ratio of mounts matters at all.
There are many that should, thematically, have innate water walking, but donāt because blizzard has āopinionsā. Itās not right, itās not wrong, itās not good, itās not bad.
Donāt forget that if they take things away and make us continually re-earn them, itās ācontentā (without any of the effort of actually innovating). Because the devs seem to have a philosophy of āgive a kid some blocks and let him build a tower, youāll keep him busy for an hour; keep kicking that tower over, and you can keep him busy all day.ā
I agree with you 100%. This is a very selfish entitled attitude to have. I am fine that people do not want to work for a special item, it is their choice.
However, I am not fine with them demanding that item be taken away because it is āunfairā to people who didnāt want to put the effort in.
People can demand stuff all the time, even if makes no sense. But keep in mind, the players here arenāt the issue, itās the Blizzard devs that do this, not the players.
By directing our anger at the players we devalue the actual argument, which is Blizzard needs to stop taking things away from those who earn it.
The devs do seem to have that bully personality of watching others get upset over what they are doing. Especially the team that designs the zone maps. They must really like screwing with players trying to get them to quit the game in frustration.
I could see the zone map devs going " I bet I can get another 2K to unsub this week" and another going āHold my beerā
