Please quote anything that I said that was hyper-aggressive and tone-deaf or where there is vitriol in my words.
My problem is not with the new mount system. My problem is that they can leave all of the other flavor mounts (Golem, 2 seater, Transmog/AH/Repairs, seahorse etc) alone but they are taking water walking from the water strider. Go right ahead with the mount equipment. Exempt the water strider from being able to use it just like with the other flavor mounts. Nothing is being taken away from you enjoying the new mount system if the water strider stays the same and does not benefit from any equipment abilities.
I actually wasnāt referring to you specifically. When I say āyou allā Iām referring to the general tone of the pro-strider folks from what Iāve been able to observe, not you specifically. From what I can gather youāre actually trying to be constructive, but Iāll admit I have not been able to read the entirety of this thread.
The general ātoneā of the pro striders is no different than the people calling it OP. In fact, they are giddy that people who farmed the rep are having it taken away. Itās all in the way you read a post, I read peopleās posts who are against keeping it the way it is as hostile and rude. Itās all a subjective point view and it depends on which side you are on.
edit: But, I havenāt flagged anyone. Differences of opinion exist so they can be debated.
Perhaps people are doing this because of the way you send your message. Go back and read some of your messages.
I am glad that you like the new system and I do not protest the implementation of that system at all. I and others only want the special ability mount we worked for to retain that special ability.
Consider thisā¦ Back in Legion when I learned that there was going to be a brontosaurus auction house mount I decided that It would be something that I would love to own. I worked really hard farming old raids and doing other things on a lot of toons so that I could earn the 5 million gold. It took a very long time but I did it.
Imagine how I would feel if they decided that they were going to remove that ability from that mount because it was (as that one poster put it) extra-super-duper special and (as another poster put it) it gives an advantage over new and returning players.
Removal of the special ability of our water-strider opens the door for them to do the same for these other special ability mounts.
Would they do it now? Probably not as that mount is a nice gold sink.
Will they do it in the future? Who knows. Do we as a community really want to find out?
Waitā¦ so you just said āif paladins, hunters, goblins, gnomes have abilities like thoseā and then you follow it up with āand Iām not talking about racialsā. You are aware that goblins and gnomes are races and not classes right? Im actually starting to think you barely understand this game- which is why arguing here with you is pointless.
All classes have UNIQUE abilities, as a WHOLE. When you pick one class you get abilities you wouldnāt get with another. Im not simply talking about āmovementā abilities- but just for kicks, why donāt you add in mage blinks, rogue stealth movements and shadow steps, warriors heroic leaps, warlock gates etc. So yea, clearly you dont understand this game well and you also donāt understand the main point:
Having 1 mount out of 700+ be able to walk on water is OP. This is a very clear discrepancy. Whereas with CLASSES, each class has its own UNIQUE abilities, If you choose 1 over another, you are guaranteed to get a combination of abilities another class wonāt have. I donāt know why in this world you would compare classes to mounts- that is not even a discussion. Sure DKās can walk on water but if you play any other class, chances are they canāt even do half the things the other class does. There are only 12 classes, meanwhile you have 700+ mounts that just walk/fly, and only one that walks on water. If you have any knowledge of statistics you would see the issue here.
And
only 1 that can Herb
only 1 that can be an Auction House
only 3 that are vendors
only 7 that are 2+ seaters
only 1 that is a 5 seater
And only 2 that walk-on-water
Should we get rid of them all because out of 700+ mounts they have special OP abilities? food for thought
Being someone who falls off of mountains a lot, I have my glider on my action bar! Of course there are the times I forget they are thereā¦ and forget that my mage and priest have slow fall
Unfortunately, things change in the game over time. and Just because it was created 6 years ago doesnāt make it a good idea.
No, but making them more uniform via mount equipment is the right idea. The herbalism mount shouldnāt keep its ability either. Thatās 15 unique mounts in your list, compared to 700+ mounts overall. Sorry but thats not okay.
We heard the outcry of inequality on extra function mounts, based on the overwhelming success of pathfinder and mount equipment; You can now hire NPCs to buy back functions youāve already earned!
The transmog, AH, repair, and generic vendors have been removed from all mounts that had them. Completing the āpart-time workā achievement will allow you to hire the NPCs offering those services for 15k, 20k, 10k, and 5k respectively. Hired NPCs remain under contract until next weekly reset.
All multi-passenger mounts will charge the passengers 1g per 50 yards traveled with a 20g pickup fee. These fees do not go to the driver.
To carry passengers on your passenger mounts: You need to buy a permit for each zone you wish to operate (100g per weekly reset) and complete the āpooberā and āgryftā achievements. Poober for horde and Gryft for alliance. Both are required. FYI: Theyāre the same achievement but one for each faction: Go to every inn keeper without using a mount to show you āknow the landā.
So, why didnāt Blizz make other mounts that have water walking? Itās certainly something they could have easily done. The boat would have been a good choice to start. Instead, they came up with a system that limits player choice rather than expand it.
Currently, there are various means through which one can use multiple buffs. This new change will limit players to one choice only. If a player decides to try a different buff, they lose the current oneāwhich they will then have to repurchase if they want to reapply it.
I repeat, this change was never about giving players more options. It actually limits them.
