Water Strider Discussion

That’s not something I like, really.

I would rather see it like you have a per-character mount equipment tab and you can swap pieces of equipment out as you need them.

One use seems awful.

And you’ll have to carry these in your bag taking space ,so you can change them accordingly.

Not if there was a method to unlock them and then choose them from a menu! I’d personally rather spend 5,000 gold on an infinite piece of equipment.

I would say then .Why,pay for water walking when you already have it?

What do you mean?

If the mount already has WW then why pay 5000 for a slot value ?

What they could do is give everyone who already unlocked the water strider by a certain date a free, infinite water walking equipment piece and let everyone else buy it from the reputation vendor?

That would be too logical for blizzard.Besides they want everyone to have the ability across all mounts,if you place it in one mount it effects all mounts regardless.

I wouldn’t be upset about that honestly.

I feel like water walking equipment ought to be infinite in its uses since we did have an infinite mount. I can understand things like anti-daze or the glider being one time use for a gold sink.

I guess it would take up some bag space but they’re releasing bigger bags every expansion as well.

There will be other sources for the water walking equipment, right? I was under the impression that these might be BOE/craftable/sellable.

Not everyone has that space or the 32 slot bags beside a new area means more junk and quest items.

Not everyone does, but it’s a convenience that doesn’t just benefit mount equipment usage, so everyone already chases them.

How many equipment pieces are there anyway?

yes, profession will able to make them but detail are still coming in ,no one knows for sure what or when we get them.

40 gold is a conservative estimate, but aside from that…
You have to pay each time to switch abilities. And each ability, like gems, are destroyed when another one is used.

I was not unpleasant to you, I explained patiently the gest of 4500 comments answering your question as to why people oppose this.
Without bothering to read even a good portion of the comments, you have come into this discussion confused about the very topic of the thread, got a perfectly civil response to it.

That was part of your first comment. 4500+ posts, and you couldn’t figure out why anyone opposes this other than “they just don’t want to”.

You still got a patient answer, but I admit I tend to lose that patience when one begins to defend bliz’s position, almost verbatim.

This company is trying to force players to sink more time on this game, when some of the only reasons to get on it are the small benefits of a daily grind.
That is an exercise in frustration.

T&E announced that if you have a Water Strider on 8.2’s launch, you will get a free [Inflatable Mount Shoes] item which lets all your mounts walk on water.

Is this not a permanent equipment piece?

I read back about 30 comments. Frankly I thought I was missing something at first, but I’m not sure I am now. It looks like many people want to have the water strider remain special because they feel like they’ve earned it and again, as someone who has a water strider, I cannot empathize with this position. Even if I felt an attachment to that mount being the sole water walking mount, I can’t fathom feeling cheated by needing to set it to water walking.

I can understand why people don’t want to use the water strider ,because,it’s the appearance .Nothing worse than riding an ugly mount. I did say that with my spore bat too,but yet when you view them they don’t affect you personally.I don’t know it maybe the eyes.

I actually will probably keep using it when I want to go across water. I think it has the cutest noises and it’s the only mount that actually can walk across water. As a roleplayer I enjoy keeping to what makes sense!

I just don’t want them to change the water strider ,they can change mount with a slot selective but the water strider be left alone.Worked too hard to get it and slept through too many dangers too.

I see. Hmm.

Appearances are subjective. I find the strider to be cute, yet I really dislike the golem. I’m not a fan of many mounts, to be honest.
But that’s totally beside the point. I would like to see this company leave the strider alone, just like they intend to do with the golem.

Plenty of people will still love to put water walking on other mounts they have, for various reasons…and they’ll be able to.

People who like the strider will continue to use it and be happy. And they’ll be able to use the other equipment slots for other mounts…just like everyone else.

And everyone’s happy.
Except blizzard, who somehow has the convoluted idea that we don’t spend enough time on this game running around, appreciating the design content of stuff we’ve seen a million times, and fighting off mobs that we’ve fought a gazillion times, to finish a wq grind we’ve done ad nauseum .
