Water Strider Discussion

/thread

The new changes interest me. But why mess with an “old” mount?

No logic.

I can agree that they need to not make mount equipment one-time use, but I can’t empathize with the want to keep the waterstrider…special, or something, simply by making its water walking ability locked and innate instead of a choice of equipment.

As far as it working wonkily, it’s on the PTR for a reason.

I didn’t realize people loved water striders so much.

The sky golems gathering ability is being locked. Why does it get special treatment if its not just to slow or inconvenience us?

Maybe because someone at Blizzard herb farms?

It’s probably to control movement a bit more, ye. Too much convenience with movement makes the world seem smaller and means you’ll engage less with it.

Less QoL is causing people to play less so they’re doing it wrong.

Then I guess they’ll add it back if it’s making them do worse.

Personally I’m not quitting over it but. :woman_shrugging:

That a problem once they take it out it gets harder for them to put it back in unless there is a price to pay for it.

Really? Why?

Why? It’s been in the game for many years. The golem is being left alone, because of it’s unique ability. What’s a “water strider” without it’s ability to stride along water? 99.9% of the players here have a long list of mounts that these new “boots” are going to work on? How does one justify ripping the strider of it’s unique ability, when there are so many others to choose from for them to use the equip feature on?
This whole system makes no sense, and as we see already on PTR, it is a completely unnecessary nerf that will certainly add frustration to a game that’s already having trouble with many other issues.

And again, if you took the time to read this thread, it isn’t merely about the strider. It is a straw that is weighing heavily on the backs of players who are sick and tired of blizzard’s phony excuses, and attempts to keep us logged on longer to shore up a good looking record for investors.

The reasons to leave this water-bug alone are many. But the fact this company is once again not listening to the player base and seemingly going headlong with another hugely unpopular decision regardless, is frustrating and sad.

It just how Blizzard does things,in wod they removed flight and wanted to completely remove it from the game.It took nearly everyone to convince them to return it.I don’t think we want that again.

I hope blizzard pays you well. It’s becoming apparent you’re a fan of their excuses…however wrong they are.

I for one, do most certainly NOT engage with this game more because of their incessant insistence to frustrate me. Frustrating to the point of playing less than I otherwise would.

Because you can put water walking back onto it. I’m assuming they’ll fix it, of course, so it’s not buggy, but otherwise I’m not sure what you’re arguing.

If they’re attempting to give us a little less control over convenience in movement, it makes sense that they’d allow a gathering perk to remain instead of a water walking ability.

I’m not reading through 4,500 posts, I’m sorry. I read through a few and it makes very little sense without context, hence my asking for clarification. If you didn’t want to answer, you were free to not.

Many people I know are excited for the changes, so perhaps it’s better not to speak wholly for “the playerbase”?

They are removing basic mount functionality for something usable across all characters at level 1 and turning it into a gold sink.

Leave my Strider alone. I don’t want your equipment.

It will cost 40g per mount/per character to be able to equip water walking to those mounts including one (possibly 2) that could already walk on water and will no longer be able to.

You will still be “forced” to purchase water waking, slow fall, or whatever other equipment you want and add it to each mount. For those of us with large mount collections that’s a pretty large gold sink for something we already had available that didn’t need to be changed.

It also negates the effort put into obtaining the Water Striders…especially for those who have the Crimson one. The Azure took some effort, but it was relatively easy. The Crimson one takes a huge amount of time to obtain.

And before folks start with the “special snowflake” garbage…

There is value in earning things. People tend to see that value in things they want to earn and negate it for things they don’t want to earn but still want to have. Hollering “special snowflake” only shows that the person hollering wants things for little to nothing and that they don’t place any value in those things. If being a “special snowflake” means I understand the value of things earned and can respect that for others, I’ll stay a “special snowflake” from now to eternity.

If you don’t want earn the mounts that can walk on water, use the Water Walking Potions.

I really don’t even know how to respond to this level of arrogance.

So if you pay 40g to put water walking on you water strider, are you only out 40g or must you recast the water walking every time you mount up?

It should be a no brianer, from someone who is arrogant enough to defend them taking away something that was worked for, and used for years.
Blizzard designed this mount, allowed it’s use, and now wants us to pay to get less than half of it’s ability back.
You’re the one defending them and their lousy excuse for doing it. One mount, we’d rather them leave alone like they intend with the golem, and you’re here saying the strider should be broken so people can put anti-daze on it…when I’m sure you have a truckload of other mounts you can use the new equipment on.

I find that to be the very definition of arrogance.

Every time even if you change mounts.

No, you’ve been nothing but unpleasant since I posted in this thread purely on the basis that I didn’t immediately understand and then agree with you completely on every point you made.

Anyway.
