Water Strider Discussion

If players had to buy separate equipment for each mount, we’d see complaints that it’s a gold sink and that Blizzard wants them to buy tokens to have enough gold to outfit all their mounts with equipment. Players will just have to make a decision as to which capabilities are important to them and roll with that.

I also agree with the mount equipment slots, but when you already have a unique mount that has an unique ability, why would you remove it’s ability because it is hideous. Just because it is hideous to you, also does not make it hideous to anyone else. Look at female dworfs for example.

Because I refuse to ride a water strider based on how ugly it is - everyone I know who has one thinks it’s hideous and are happy to finally be rid of it. Having to use limited duration consumables to retain that ability is not as convenient as having a passive ability on your mount, so let’s not pretend they’re the same.

Getting a water stirder isn’t hard, let’s stop pretending that it is. Having one doesn’t make you special. You’ll still have your precious water strider, it just won’t be any more or less special than any other mount out there. That’s the whole point. People will now pick the mount they prefer for aesthetic reasons rather than which one is mechanically superior - this brings some flavor back into the world and we’ll see a greater diversity of mounts out there because of it, both of which are a good thing.

No but then they will spin it as us agreeing with them and no one really agrees with these terrible choices.

You can have 50 characters on one realm now. Seems like they are ok to balance it around 50 now. The shocker outlier people might be people that only play one toon.

If they left the system as is then added an equipment system that enabled players to give Account Bound mounts a bonus feature like anti-daze, etc, then you would be very hard pressed to find a single non-troll with a complaint.

You underestimate the ability of the forum community to lose their mind and go into temper tantrum mode over the most inane things.

This thread is a perfect example of that.

It was at the time it was presented ,to farm that rep took a long time.To said it isn’t is fact a slap in the face tothe people that did it.

Sure now it is not hard to obtain the mount as of now ,just do time walking turn it in to earn the rep.You guys now have it easy, but to don’t tell others it’s was easy back then.

I don’t think the removal of Water Walking from the Water Strider is an inane thing. I think it is stupid to remove something, and significantly better to add things.

This change will not add them subs, this change to will add to the losing subs pile.

Who cares how hard it was back in MoP?

It was way harder to scrape together the gold to buy an epic mount back in Vanilla, but I don’t see anyone here complaining about how comparatively easy it is now?

You can’t use how difficult something was several expansions ago dictate how the game evolves moving forward.

At the time, getting the strider was a time sink, and it took a long time to get it. That, I DO remember. I am not special by any means, and I never claimed that I was, or anyone else for that matter. I did however EARN IT. It has been part of my mount collection for a LONG time, and I positively DETEST the idea of stripping it of it’s unique abilities because people like you think they’re hideous or overpowered in some way.
GET THE **** OVER IT.

People can already pick the mount they want. It’s NOT the player’s fault that this company didn’t have the creative ability to make other ww mounts. Last I looked, there was a HUGE diversity of mount selections for every player currently being used in the game. And since you obviously don’t give a damn about it’s other abilities, such as being able to not break on MINOR damage, then you have not one shred of a good reason to stand demanding every mount should be equal. That is pure nonsense.

It is crystal clear you’re taking this stand because you don’t like to see so many of them being used out in the world. “Flavor” my derriere .
I am aghast at how a few players can be so selfish.

Oh so now if that were so then don’t do any rep.grinds in the future for the purpose of obtaining any mount for a value.Would you do it even with flight ?

Every reputation introduced is going to be made obsolete in the next expansion.

That is the nature of the game… this is no different.

I don’t go out of my way to grind reputations, gear, or really anything in this game because it’s most of it is going to be rendered obsolete in the next patch. I just do what I enjoy and leave it at that - if that means I get rep passively through that activity and this makes some mounts/recipes/mogs available to me - then that’s just a bonus as far as I’m concerned.

Having a $20 bill isn’t hard, doesn’t make you special, but if I TAKE yours and give you 15 silver dollars instead… that might be something you want. But I didn’t ask you before taking something that was yours and replacing it with something else.

Blizzard “asks” each time you agree to the ToS and EULA.
I still say this is an unethical decision on their part, but once we launch the game we are saying that “yes…you can do whatever you wish with your digital property”.

There’s a significant difference between something being “Taken away” and something being “made obsolete”. Don’t conflate the two.

Nature makes everything obsolete but not with humans .We have memories we want to hold on to in this game. You love vanilla for a reason so do we our mounts.

This was one of the main reason cata subs dropped off because they changed Azeroth and the Lore behind it. And like a community when the story changes too much it is lost in time and forgotten.

Your post brought Metrohaha to mind.
If I explained why I would be breaking the forum rule against discussing disciplinary actions.

Bizarre, is someone who thinks everyone’s mounts should have the same abilities.
Bizarre, is someone who accuses others of “being special”, because they simply want the strider left alone.
Bizarre, is someone who makes it clear they don’t like seeing all the striders, therefore breaking them from their uniqueness is justified.

Very few people have your point of view, but those that do, have parroted almost the same exact excuses while defending something so unpopular with so many players.

Even if all we wish to do is have the strider left alone, like they’re doing with the golem, and letting everyone have the equip feature for all the rest of their mounts, it boggles the mind how you can so disregard all others and still defend breaking this mount.

Someone mentioned we should take a look at the PTR forum and read the thread about this from those who’ve tried this system.

I did just that, and wasn’t one bit surprised to find out that the feature is quite unpopular, with those already actually using it.
Defend bliz all you want. Call me emotional, I couldn’t give a rip what you think.
I just find it sad that your excuses sound so selfish.

I mean, really…suddenly after this we’ll all have the chance to enhance your experience on the game…because you won’t see so many striders.

I’ve been off the forums too long. Forgive my rustiness with posting. I’ll figure this out again lol.
