You mean the kind of koolaid that makes people not accept reality? The kind that makes someone firmly believe that they, in their hubris and entitlement, should make it so that other players have to play “their way”? Like someone saying that people that love the strider should not have the option of slowfall or anti daze (or any other possible future mount equipment abilities), because they, themselves, only want it to have water walking?
Is it the kind of koolaid that makes someone complain, whine, and moan about inevitable things instead of accepting the truth the way it is? Because, the reality is that the strider will need inflatable boots, “son”.
This. Once people experience just how bad this change is, they will pitch a fit. Especially after they find out gliders, water walking potions, barding, and the like no longer work, and new mount equipment is locked behind tedious rep grinds. Gonna be fun.
You’ve been told over and over again, that not only are there more reasons to oppose this stupid decision, but it’s HUGELY ironic that you keep coming in here to defend this because YOU want the strider to have other abilities bliz intends to roll out.
At the very least, if they aren’t going to listen to the vast majority of players about this strider, they can keep it as it is and not allow it the ability to get a slot for change. Yaknow, like they’re supposedly doing with the golem. You probably have a crap-ton of mounts that you will be able to use for whatever your little troll heart desires but NOOOOOOOO, you have to defend this change to the strider.
Look, when you say “majority”, I only see the same ones of you, over and over. I have the strider, but I do not intend to use it. However, I can still say there are people out of the millions that play WoW, that will want their strider to do other things. How conceited would someone have to be to believe that their view is the only one, or that a few people grumbling on the forum that are in an echo chamber thread, all saying the same thing and agreeing with each other, are the “majority” and speak for everyone?
You say they can keep it and majority and so forth, but again, I do not need to defend anything. There’s nothing for me to actually defend. If 100% of us could post in this thread millions and millions of posts all in agreement and only seeing things your way- the intended change will STILL occur. They are not keeping the mount the same. Accept it. Accept reality. Get over yourself.
I am not so sure about this. If “Millions of customers” posted that they do not want water-walking removed, it would get the attention of influencers, including the media and probably the suits at the top.
Those people would ask the question, “why are you making a change that all of your customers do not want you to make.”
It is kind of like them bringing the COT portal back. Influencers and media picked up the story after the change went live and players complained. Because the most common portal mentioned was COT, that was the portal they are putting back in. I guarantee that had the media/influencers mentioned a different portal, that portal would have been the one re-introduced.

You keep saying this but your actions say otherwise. Has it still not dawned on you yet that you’re fighting a battle that, at best, is a loss for a lot of players? Taking something away from players, that they not only invested time in but spent a decent amount of gold on, and selling it back to them is never the gold star decision you want to portray it as.

As far as media and such, I dunno, but I do know that comparing that portal change to this is not applicable. They HAVE to change the strider or the new system does not work. It can’t not change. These people cannot fathom or accept that, and so, here we are.
Bornak has asked for feedback in this very thread on the waterstrider and equipment slots. If you don’t like that people voice their opinion, when asked for by a CM, you can just not click on this thread.
At this point, the changes are not live, and only on PTR where things are subject to change.
If you ask them if they want their water strider to LOSE the ability to stride on water so they can have no-daze or slow fall?
They will almost certainly say “No.”
Also, fwiw, on a strider you were able to leap down onto water, take a little damage and then run across the water.
The new mount equipment does not do this. If you take any falling damage, you lose the water walking buff. You’ll have to remount to get it back. Depending on your alts race, 30% to 50% of the mounts in your collection CAN’T get back on top of the water.
You either have to manually switch to a mount that’s small enough, or swim to land and remount.
We pay for the option of no-daze/slowfall by losing water walking. We pay for the option to have inferior water walking on all our ground mounts by losing superior water walking on our special mounts.
No, they do not. They have the technology to leave the strider alone and make it so it will not benefit from the mount equipment. Heck, they have the technology to leave it alone and make it benefit from the mount equipment.
How do I know this? Simple, they are already doing this with the Golem. They have already stated that they will make it so that the mount equipment will not work on that mount.
So it is very much applicable. They are introducing “mount equipment” to prevent what happened with the portals to happen with the strider. Players will be entranced by the shiny object and by the time they realize that that consumable will be grayed out sometime in the future, it will be too late.
It is a very smart move on the developers part. They know that if they just removed water-walking from the strider, people will be in an uproar (it happened before), but using this method will prevent that from happening.
