It’s funny how this dev team keeps making the game more restrictive (transmog rules (which may be loosening up but I’ll believe that when I see it), time gating flying, removal of portals/funneling people into 2 cities per side, breaking mounts, etc) when given its age you’d think they’d want to make the game more accessible and give more choices to people. Little annoyances add up over time. You do enough of them and you will lose people.
To me it’s funnier how a portion of the player base actually think this gives them a choice.
This. getting real sick of the constant pruning. I fully believe that at some point in the near future they’re just gonna say something like “You know…warriors are really just Pallys without a heal spec, so we’re removing them from the game”
I would hope they wouldn’t mess with fishing like they already did with the underlight. It’s the only sane part of the game I like,at least ,I can relax a little after the drama is done (for a while).
Just leave the water strider alone.
The thing is… I would really really love to have a true “Legendary Mount” system, something like an “Artifact Saddle” which you improve/evolve/upgrade over time. Maybe 4 of them… which you can customize in various ways: one each for flying, running, striding and swimming
Attributes that could be upgraded over time like:
- movement speed
- mounting speed
- daze resistance
- fall damage reduction
- reduced agro range
- size (larger for vanity, or smaller for zipping through doors)
- ‘effects’ like weapon illusion enchants
and so many other things that could be thrown in as worthwhile “Keep them forever” upgrades. Stuff that’d be account wide so that regardless of which alt you’re using you’re always building towards the next step up for your special favorite mount.
More like 6 years at this point actually.
If we could vote for lead Dev, you’d have mine x 1000. This is a fabulous idea.
Yes,that’s a wonderful idea !
The only problem with that, and you know it as well as I do, is that Blizzard doesn’t believe in “keep them forever” upgrades. Blizzard designs WoW like a series of stand alone games, where we’re constantly re-gaining the same abilities. They have no clue how to evolve characters and gameplay rather than tearing everything down and making us start over.
Ain’t that the truth. And I get why that’s a problem for them… it’s easier to make random flashy decisions if you don’t have to support them for more than 2 years into the future.
Of course, if it were me, instead of having a bunch of gem slots to stuff upgrades into or a talent tree to populate… it’d be more like the profession system. There’d be a bunch of ‘unlearned’ saddle upgrades available with various ways to ‘learn’ them. Perhaps some are learned by using a consumable made by different professions, or found on rares, etc.
Once you ‘learn’ the upgrade its effect becomes part of your saddle (either globally or just for areas in that expansion). Some have the same ‘three levels’ that recipes improve the effect that upgrade has, with the top level being pretty hard to get and very beneficial.
And maybe not just mounted travel but upgrades which affect flightpath travel as well perhaps:
- WoD Saddle Upgrade: Flight Path Discount (10% / 50% /free)
- WoD Saddle Upgrade: Flight Path Speed (10% / 50% / instant)
- WoD Saddle Upgrade: Flight Path Escape-Chute (1 per day / 1 per hr / anytime) – lets you hop off a flight-path ANYTIME YOU WANT
they could even stuff it in where First Aid used to be… and save a little work that way.
You get ONE item free.
You must PAY for EVERY TOON after that.
They do that $h!t with flying and I’m done.
They do this and I will NEVER buy another expansion. I’ll stick with old content and classic.
Nope, one time use and it’s gone until you go to Panda Land and buy another and equip it. It’s gonna be a huge gold sink, I can see Blizzard making a different one needed for each zone in the future, so we have to switch over and over.
So, there have been no Mount Equipment comments or updates on the PTR forum since the first 2 days of the PTR. Don’t know whether that is because players aren’t testing the equipment or they are not testing at all. Also, no mention of whether the other equipment patterns ever showed up or anything.
“Things that make you go hmmm”.
I can see it now. Blizzard will claim no one said they did not like the mount equipment on the ptr forums so they will go ahead with it and completely ignore this thread.
I’ll say this again if my Water Striders ability to water walk it taken away then DK’s and Shamans need to lose their WW ability spells too…I worked to get my two Striders…
Leave my bug alone its purpose was to help my non DK and Shaman classes get around, nerfing it will just bring this game closer ruin to this game like eveything else you nerf into the ground.
If that’s the case I’m glad I started playing FFXIV because Blizzard obviously dosen’t want folks to have fun anymore.
The problem with this kind of “wait and see” approach is that Blizz will go ahead and implement something we dont want (like the GCD change). Then we’ll be stuck with it the whole next expansion while Blizz says “since no one cared we went ahead” and it would cost actual money to remove so it in for good. Now is the time to speak up, before it gets out into the immovable block of bad design choices.
Not to mention that being cheap doesn’t make a bad design decision into a good one. Price is only one aspect of this…and no matter how low the price, it doesn’t justify charging players to regain functionality they already possessed.
Precisely - I don’t know why the OP has the 40g listed as a “pro”. Any price is automatically a “con” in my mind.
