Water Strider Discussion

I’d prefer the Water Strider be left alone, so I’m not stuck having to water walk on every mount just to not lose water walking. I could give up using water walking here or give up using the mount equipment system. It will feel like I’ve lost something either way.

Add to that if I pick water walking equip I’ll always have to remember to look down when jumping into water on every mount now to not go splat against it. This all just seems messy… should just let Water Striders be another exception mount.

Agreed.

But honestly, after reading so many ideas, the best option seems to be having the equipment apply on a by- mount basis, across an account.

We would have so much more choice, wouldn’t have to clog our bags with more items, and we’d actually end up buying more equipment in the long run, which helps proffessions out.

Yes, this is the way it SHOULD have been done from the beginning. But their intent was not to give us choice it was to take choice away and make getting around take longer.
Mount specific gear would let me have a mount for flying, a mount with no daze, a mount for water walking, a mount for parachuting… wow, it be easy to get around no matter what kind off terrain they tossed at us.

That is NOT their purpose.
They want to make it so we can only have ONE ability equipped at a time and if we want to equip another we have to have that gear with us and equipping it destroys the one I already have.
This will take us longer to get around and cost more for us to have the versatility we have now.
Watch the barding, potions and other buff items be nerfed to the ground in 8.2 or soon after.

Blizzard wants us to have less choice so it takes longer to do anything. They don’t seem to care what the player wants any more, as long as we play longer they are happy.

This is all we want Blizzard, just leave the bug alone.

Letting them know I have not given up and accepted their decision.
We need to keep this thread going or they will say - see, it was only a matter of time till they ran out of steam. They have accepted it now…

I have not.
You can do with the Waterstrider what you are doing with the Sky Golem.
Make it so.

I just started playing this game again last November and in all the years (since 1999) I have played MMO’s, I have never seen any game developer pull something from a player they have earned this way.

In order for me to gain back the same functionality I have now, I would have to buy all the water walking shoes for my alts which depending on what they end up costing I may or may not be able to afford.

Then, on my horde characters (on a different server) I would have to level to from 58 to 90 on my paladin and then do the rep. All to get back what I currently already worked and paid for.

It really just makes me not want to do all that work for a video game to be honest. Plus WoD is really not that fun for me. I don’t like the garrison but that is another thread entirely.

Please consider leaving the water strider alone. Then, other players will have the choice of using whatever mount they want to water walk just like you said you wanted. Choice is always a good thing.

Clearly Blizzard has a motive that’s less than honest If they could leave the strider alone, but won’t.

Disingenuous at the least.

“Use the equipment.” Is not an alternative to the already admitted option they’re using for the golem.

Fricken liars.

Not sure if this helps you or not but if the floaty thing is a real BOA item you can buy it on whatever server+faction and mail it to yourself regardless of server+faction. Does not need to be a connected server as long as the alts are all on your same bnet account. I mail those alt gear catch up things to my far away toons all the time but you can’t send any BoE or gold or anything non BOA.

That being said I don’t know if the slot unlocks per server. Pretty sure it is just account wide.

Hope this helps! (I hate the change too)

Thank you for your reply. Yes, it will make it a little easier. Better than having to gain all those levels. I still wish they would leave this water strider alone though. We earned it and should get to keep it. Just doesn’t make me feel to good about this company.

Better to voice opinions now, than be silent and try and get them to remove it later. We all know how slow Blizz is at fixing/removing anything the playerbase hates.

LOL This thing is still going? It must be some kind of cathartic therapy for folks. I’ve already said several thousand posts ago, you’ll have to accept this change, and they won’t make the strider an “exception” because people like me do not want to be forced to have it only walk on water. Slowfall or anti-daze strider for this troll.

I can’t wait until mount equipment comes out that allows for gathering while mounted. I’ll use my inflatable boots and walk down the river of tears from the Sky Golem folks that do this same thing- joking, joking. But, seriously, if they do, then the golem will have the same thing happen to it. lol

Thank you Zulzamba for bumping this thread. You are most helpful.

Please keep it up.

We don’t mind you pretending to know what Blizzard will or won’t do.
We don’t mind you repeatedly demonstrating what kind of character you are.

Just keep being a good little boy and bumping the thread.

So, what you are saying is that you are more important than the rest of their customers? Interesting.

Blizz won’t make an exception for the water strider because it’s easier to remove and restrict water walking in the future when it’s mount equipment.

Mount equipment will become xpac specific with today’s mount equipment not working in tomorrow’s xpac.

The new mount equipment will be gated behind rep grinds and long quest lines

And if it’s an xpac dominated by water again, new water walking equipment won’t be offered at all.

Water walking allows players to “fly” over water going directly from point A to point B instead of going through time-consuming, circuitous “content”.

Huh. Almost like they’re planning to remove Pathfinder and gate flying with equipment.

“You guys said you hated Pathfinder, so we’ve removed it. Also, by the way, you have to buy and equip a token from each expansion in order to fly. Heading to MoP? Just pop in the 100g equipment. Planning to quest in Cata? Just pop in the 100g token.”

How would everyone feel if they took the ability to fly off of all mounts that can currently fly and they made you buy a piece of mount equipment in order to make your mounts fly again? Because replace flying with water walking and that’s what all of us who did the grind for our striders are dealing with.

Blizzard has taken things away from us for years, it’s just now gotten out of control. You don’t take things away from people that have worked for WHAT YOU OFFERED to begin with. There was no tool tip that said “will only walk on water for a limited time”. They took First Aid, fine, but they also took the achievement points people had earned. They really think that little of their players investment in the game?

This was my fear from the beginning of this discussion. Not to sound dramatic and I have really never threatened to quit over something like this before, but this is so against the spirit of the game that if they turn mount equipment into another gated grind to get something we already had, I am out. I can find better ways to waste my time.

If they want to make the world seem larger how about they actually MAKE the world larger and stop thinking of crafty ways to artificially enlarge it by taking away the stuff we love.

That’s right blizzard, scale things up and add some fluffy blank land in between. But quit eye’n my water strider bug… it’s not healthy!

You will accept this change.
You will still give us $$$$
You will like it
You will comply or be assimilated.

I can say no to all of the above. Blizzard can listen to the playerbase or the sum of all of their bad decisions can cause players to say I am not gonna pay anymore.

You cant force people to do things they dont want to do. You can try, but once the reward is worth less than the hassle, people walk away.

Right now, I dont see a reward from Blizzard worth dealing with their crazy ideas.
