Water Strider Discussion

Is it weird that after a member of Elitist Jerks and former lawyer becomes the lead dev, most of the fan base on the forums are Elitist Jerks and lawyers trying to ague every single point. Like " In subsection 3, paragraph 2, sentence 1 you forgot a “.” Therefore you entire argument is invalidated.

Blizzard is getting the fan base it wanted when they prmoted Ion as lead dev. As I said in other posts, I remember when the Lead Dev in WoW focused on fun and it seeped through every pore in this game. Now its just rules, challenges and nasty people.

WoW in 2004. Tell me anyone would say the same thing today

Now, imagine an MMO where your experience is a string of quests where you’re rewarded with a cool item, recipe, or a decent amount of pocket money. A game where the grind is virtually eliminated–a game where downtime is relatively nonexistent, where enemies respawn rapidly and dynamically according to how many players are in the local area; where you can use a healing spell, or bandage yourself, or eat some food, or all three, before diving right back in again. Your character’s death doesn’t result in the loss of many hours of experience points, or one of your items, or any money (although there is item decay, so whatever you have equipped currently takes a 10% durability hit). When you die, you resurrect as a ghost who moves quickly, runs on water, and cannot be harmed on its way back to its body. You can also have a player resurrect you in a matter of moments, even after you have entered ghost form. This is a game that understands Fun.

Ion is still a member and GM of Elitist Jerks. They are 2/2 on H Crucible of Storms. They are on Mal’ganis

Bet its nice to have your own private server where you can do anything you want.

Too bad it drags the rest of us along with it

Me too and it is so fun when you run into someone else who does the bug special back at you!

I am not sure that people understand this fact. Sure, blizzard can do whatever they want to the game, however, should they. People worked hard to grind the rep for the bug expecting that I would have a mount that would always walk on water. In my opinion, to do away with the ability isn’t very ethical.

Until they issue a retraction of the plan to remove the water walking ability of my water strider I shall treat them as if they already did it and rage accordingly… TY

We have a lawyer as a lead dev. Expecting ethical behavior is not the correct expectation to have.

Just adding my 2 cents… I put in a lot of time and effort doing the dailies to get the rep to be able to buy the water strider for GOLD.
I bought it because it strides on water.
And I actually think it’s kind of cute.
To take away the striding ability so many years after so many of us worked hard to get it is wrong.
The waterstrider should keep its ability and be unable to have other equipment just as the Sky Golem.

I want to know are they going to rename the water strider when it no longer strides on water. This whole thing seems so stupid to me its like cutting the wings off a hawk and then deciding that the hawk now needs to wear a quad-copter harness to fly. The hawk already could fly before you mucked it all up.

If the water strider had a chance to have wingsand could fly it would look like a giant mosquito.Hey blizzard you do want to scare people more you can do it that way!

If that’s the case all the tameable striders that hunters can get as pets have to lose it too make them just generic bug enemy/wildlife #397
