Permanent, free of charge for all characters level 20 or above.
Water Strider/Rep holders receive a single, one-time use consumable item that restores a lesser grade water walking ability for only one of your characters, and if you ever change to a different perk, you will incur a cost to restore water walking. All of your alts will incur a price in gold to restore that same lesser grade of water walking.
I have read it. Quite extensively. I have also read quite a lot about Business Law. Product Law, Civil Torts, Criminal Law, and various and sundry precedents dating back to Marbury v Madison.
Would you like to know one of the thing I know to be true of all EULAâs? They represent an adherence contract.
While contracts of adhesion are not on their face pernicious, used (one might go so far as to say abused) impermissibly, the terms are often found to be unenforceable, resulting in the implied contract being rendered null and void either in whole or in part. There are plenty of examples of this out there. I will not do your research for you but will give you the breadcrumb of the trail to follow. Start with Zappoâs EULA.
The above also applies to other non signature âcontractsâ Terms of Use, Terms of Service, et al.
So far the only thing that Blizzard Entertainmentâs EULA has going for it (other than some decidedly vague and ambiguous language) is the fact that it is of the form of EULA known as Clickwrap (you have to click on an I Agree button to proceed to the content of the game) but even clickwrap is not âsafeâ from scrutiny and one would be unwise indeed to hedge all their bets on it not being struck down as impermissible by a court at some date in the future.
All of that said, and the EULA notwithstanding (as it is not known to be reliable in the conveyance of terms) the main point that you glossed over in your little attempt to marginalize someone else rather than address the issue, is that ethically and morally there is ZERO distinction between what Blizzard is doing and the Tort of Conversion.
Kindly stick to the addressed argument rather than making up your own feelgood argument out of whole cloth.
I love my loot-a-rang. Getting to loot corpseâs without having to aggro the next 6 mobs in a given area.
But speaking of that item we engies are privy to, did they take away the ability of a hunterâs pet, that could basically do the same thing? I never really paid much attention to that, because well, loot-a-rang.
If they changed the new system to not break on fall damage, then yes, it would.
Otherwise, itâs not exactly. At best, itâs like runner-up good.
And god help those players who get dismounted while in the water.
Iâd say probably half of them wonât figure it out before their anger sets in.
And it COSTS GOLD PER character.
Im PAYING for something I already EARNED by the terms and conditions that were agreed upon at the time.
Anywhere but a game this would be outright fraud.
Ok, thank you for the detailed breakdown⌠I wasnât aware that there were differences between how water strider and water walking equipment work (like the fall damage thing).
So if they were to implement it in a way where if you choose to not use any mount equipment then your water strider can keep water walking (and have everything work exactly like it is right now)⌠would that solve all the issues?
I have DOZENS of charactersâŚall of which had the Strider as their main mount.
Im a little irritated that Im being stolen from and having what was stolen sold back to meâŚand whats worse is the insult that I should just be happy about it and pay my sub with a smile on my face.
What they COULD have done was just leave the stinking stider alone and make more water walking mounts for the game instead of this cheap, easy no brain âfixâ that didnt need fixing.
We got a boat we could buy this expansion.
HELLOâŚBLIZZARDâŚBOATâŚWATERâŚany bells going off?
I would be mostly content with the water strider being exempted like the Sky Golem because that makes mount equipment ânew businessâ not a trade-off.
I still worry that the concept of âmount equipmentâ seems rushed and poorly thought through. Will they add slots so we can equip multiple travel traits? What trade-offs are we going to be forced into? Will they obsolete important traits and force us to buy/craft replacements every patch? Every expansion?
Will they make it excessively annoying to try to get around in the world without the proper piece of mount equipment, forcing us to swap it out regularly if weâre going back and forth between two areas regularly?
All that is hypothetical⌠I donât know what theyâre planning, if anything, with regards to mount equipment other than Iâd really like my striders LEFT ALONE so that my alts have water walking, as always, without having to pay to enable it next time, or lose bag-spaces to carry around consumables/replacement equipment all the time.
They way theyve been doing things the last while, just picture the absolute worst case scenario and make it 10 times worse.
That seems to be about right with this team.
Hence the fence I mentioned.
If Iâm on it, then Iâm not paying to play.
And if Iâm not paying to play, then thatâs a $100+ loss per month of income for Blizzard.
Iâm playing the long game. Death by 8 cuts.
There were some months I spent a couple hundred plus sub fees.
All that is gone now.
Im keeping one sub going so when my nephew is playing we can play with him, but thats it. and if it werent for that Id not have any problem just deleting my accounts entirely.
