I know how Blizz operates. RIP.
Care to cite where anyone stated the stirrups and barding are going away? Or are you just making up conspiracy theories to get triggered by?
note the âall of that characterâs mounts walk on water.â
âTHAT charactersâ, not account, it only affects one single character and that is the character that it is used on. Thing is, once earned we can currently use the water strider on ALL of our characters. When they change it, from what they have written in their post, we will only get ONE SINGLE token to give water walking back on ONE SINGLE character. For me, I will have to purchase 24+ tokens for my other 24+ toons just to have exactly the same game experience as I have nowâŠ
So basically for those of us with the water strider, we are not gaining anything from this, in fact weâre just being forced to fork out who knows how much gold just to have exactly what we have now.
Best thing they could do is just leave the water strider alone and make it not affected by the equipment. That way I can choose if I want to give all my mounts on a single toon water striding aswell as the water strider, or have the anti daze on all my other mounts but still getting the water strider to walk on water with the risk of being dazed off of it.
Holy forked-tongue Batman, my lie detector just lit up like a Christmas tree!
And unless flight was enabled in BfA since Iâve quit playing, the above-quoted statement is a bald-faced lie.
Does this water walking equipment take up an existing gear slot or bag space? If so, revert the change or youâve once again urinated down the backs of the playerbase and told them it was raining.
DO NOT FIX WHAT IS NOT BROKEN!!
I can only point out obvious stupidity so many times before it starts to look like maliciousness on your part ActiBlizz.
Semper Fi!
Iâm pretty sure I said âMAY not be able to do thatâŠâ So, yeahâŠabsolutly a conspiracy theory.
Yes we do actually, at least the current incarnation going to the PTR. The items are consumables. They can be changed out on the fly by overwriting the existing equipment with the new one. Hereâs a vid from T&E that talk about things they learned that were not talked about in the Blizzard video today where they share this.

People donât understand the effect this has on those which originally grinded out the rep to purchase the striders. If you want a water walking mount, then grind it, or ask Blizzard to introduce new versions of it, not strip the ability of a mount to apply it to others.
So, what then? The slow falling is useless for flying mounts. The water walking is useless for death Knights and shamans. The daze is useless for those who are tanks, or have the spurs. All of these are bad choices.
Thatâs like removing the daze effect from tanks and saying âoh, itâs just accomplished differently than it was before.â
Removing water walking from death knights and saying âoh, itâs just accomplished differently than it was before.â
Removing slow fall from mages, âoh, itâs just accomplished differently than it was before.â
None of these are good solutions. Effectively, tanks, leather workers, and a some classes (death knights and shamans) are able to have one additional slot. No one wins here.
Leave water strider alone. Implement new water walking mounts if itâs such a big deal. Blizzard, canât you just think of more creative mount slots?
A boost button? Allows you to go X% faster for Y seconds.
Cloaking field. Allows you to stealth by for x seconds.
Ramming speed. Allows you to ram through mobs and players for x seconds.
Rocket Pack. Allows you to jump 100 feet in the air and shoot towards a new location with x yards.
Safety Pack. Allows you to survive fatal damage while mounted. Dismounts you on impact.
Oil slick. Leaves patches of oil behind you, slowing those caught by 80% for 3 seconds.
These are just some goofy ideas thought up in less than a few minutes. Donât remove water walking from striders!
I read the official announcement. I still think itâs stupid and boggles the mind. As the first comment said, do they even play their own game? With changes like this I can only assume not.
They mentioned not changing the herbing mount. Wonder how long thatâs gonna last.
And what? The different equipment destroy each other? Lemme guess, they only stack to 1, LOL
How is this going to affect profession items like Barding and Stirrups?
You should be happy, you had something to complain about for a bit.
Finding something to complain about will never be a problem for these forums!
This is my issue. Making everything meld together and removing the unique traits (yes in all itâs ugliness) that make the mount that way.
I think the best short-term solution to this would be to let the Striders keep their water walking baseline and exclude them from benefiting from the mount equipment like theyâre doing with the Sky Golem (according to T&E). That way people with the Striders can just swap to them when they need water walking, otherwise they can mount something else and gain the benefit from their mount equipment (daze immunity is going to be very nice imo).
Looking forward, they could add even more neat baseline effects and exclude those mounts from the equipment OR (much better but way more work) give every mount a baseline effect and let everything have their baseline effect + the equipment effect.
There are plenty of cool effects they could add, like slow fall on the mounts that hover for their walk cycle (like the phoenixes and parrots). Spider mounts could web/root mobs that hit you. Rockets could have no cast time.
They should spread the abilities wide too so there arenât like, 10 special mounts, but hundreds. For example, I think the Mythic Jaina mount was a missed opportunity. Since itâs a frost elemental, they could make it freeze the water below it for water walking (like a personal Path of Frost). Obviously they should toss it on some other easier-to-get modern mounts too.
All that said, the outrage over this is hilarious. If you unlocked the Water Strider and use it everywhere right now, you get the water walking equipment for free, instantly on patch day. Throw that on, and now every mount is a Strider just like you were using before. Additionally, flying will be unlockable when this system comes out, which will largely make mount equipment irrelevant outside of leveling until next xpac anyways. Obviously I think the system can be improved and I outlined how above, but what they announced is nothing but better than what we have currently.
I legitimately think theyâre just trolling.
When 8.2 hits they can take the mount equipment they get in the mail for free for having the strider, equip it, and the only thing that changes is now in addition to water walk on the strider they have water walk on all mounts. Thatâs not a loss. Which means the fake outrage is completely unjustified. If, like the T&E video talked about, they put it out where it required level 100 then people would lose water walking mount options from 20-100. But they changed that already due to feedback. Any complaints are lunacy.
No, any attempt to justify this garbage is whatâs lunacy. I donât want waterwalking on all of my mounts, I want it on my waterwalking mount like Iâve always had. Now instead of getting to experience this cool new feature I have to use my single slot to recover functionality thatâs been removed for absolutely no reason. Thereâs literally no way any of you can spin this as a positive in any kind of good faith.
Iâll add my two cents here, Water Strider is a water bug. It naturally glides on water, take that away and you just a bug strider.
Its like having a underwater mount and having to pay for fins to make it swim.
That means Taliesin and Evitel wonât need to put this on their sh*t show list!
And yes if this gets mentioned in their next weekly reset Iâll feel very proud knowing the answer was found in my thread.
Too bad the answer is worthless and basically saying âdeal with itâ. At the end I am still being charged and made to jump through hoops for zero reason.
That way people with the Striders can just swap to them when they need water walking, otherwise they can mount something else and gain the benefit from their mount equipment (daze immunity is going to be very nice imo).
Iâd be fine with that personally - but Blizzard seems to think itâs a problem that people allegedly feel âforcedâ to using the water strider because it can cross water: and Iâm not sure this would solve that in their eyes since people would still use the Strider for water crossing and then switch to another mount when away from water.
I think a fair compromise would be to unlock/obtain the Water Strider mount, which then gives you âBlessing of the Water Striderâ or something which then allows your other mounts to walk on water.
Iâm glad about my other mounts getting the opportunity to water walk, however I donât know that Leatherworking and Blacksmithing needed to have one of their only semi-profitable craftable items reduced to be irrelevant (except for worgens and druids, who I assume this new system will not interact with).
Messy application but decent general idea.
The best solution is to just LEAVE IT ALONE!
Honestly, why is this even a concern? So what if a particular mount dominates the world? Why is that a problem? Are the other mounts jealous? Are the therapy bills gettting out of hand?
Just curiousâŠ
Thank you for your post.
We need more people voicing their reasons against these supposed âimprovementsâ.
