No, the point of mount equipment is to make sure we’re not able to double up on beneficial mount effects the way we can now.
Then why isn’t Blizzard adding more mounts with passive effects to the game? Or giving more mounts that we already have passive effects? Or having the mount equipment system work at the mount level instead of the character level?
This isn’t about too many people using the water strider. This is Blizzard once again trying to control and micro manage how we navigate their world.
Except when some people end up with fewer choices as a result.
You get out of the game largely the effort you put into it. You want water walking for the last 6 years like I’ve had? Go get it! I grinded that rep at the end of MoP specifically for the ability to walk on water. If you don’t care about that, why are you even talking?
BUT they are not whining about having something someone else went and earned so it’s not lazy just don’t want it and not petty enough to want to take it away from those that did earn it.
I have to disagree with you here. As many have stated, everyone in the game could get this mount and these days they could get it a lot faster than it took us to get it back in MOP.
Even if they did not want to get the mount, water-walking potions have been available in the game forever, so they could use those at any point.
And while it did not take any special skill other than fishing to get the mount, it took time, patience, and determination. Doing those dailies every day for months was not fun. It would have been easy to just go do something else.
Back then the 5k the mount cost was a lot as well. Not only did I have to do the dailies, but I farmed MC week after week to earn the gold (hard to believe that I thought getting 500 gold out of that place was a lot, but it was back then).
So yes, I take exception to your elitist attitude that earning things only takes “skill”. If you ask those who have earned world firsts you will find that above all, it takes time, patience, and determination.
OMG! Seriously. That flying blood creature is like a parachute by design!?! Why add equipment slot when it could just grab your hair with it’s naughty bits and act as a parachute when you get dismounted mid-air.
it doesn’t dampen any position when talking about what I assume is a 100% increased speed bonus or taking a valuable shortcut where time is of the essence
balance is not derived from spite but from fair gameplay and if you think that my position boils down to that rhetoric I am sorry to say but you are wrong
Like I said I didn’t mind the warlocks glyph being removed and did not take to the forums in defense of it like many are the strider
you choose not to accept the changes and that is your problem
Its funny that the same people who said they dont know how to make professions better are the same ones making a system that seems designed to undermine profession items then stick the tokens on vendors.
Honestly, if they left the Water Strider alone and made the equipment per mount and gave professions ways to make them then literally everyone would benefit on both sides of the discussion.
You can get all the Angler’s rep you need when MoP timewalking is available. The Angler’s Commendations require 50 Badges per.
With 1750 badges you buy 105 commendations. Use 70 of them (or however many needed to hit revered), hit up Nat Pagle to buy the +100% rep buff, and then use the remaining 35 of them.
You now have the rep required to get the mount. The commendation is account wide, of course, so you could take 4 toons through one timewalking dungeon each and have 2000 badges to buy up the tokens with.
This would be “current end game content” (particularly if you personally enjoy doing the weekly for it).
I certainly could do that, yes. We’re not arguing about what I could do. We’re arguing about whether or not I should have to do it going forward.
So far you have not provided a significantly meaningful argument for why the Water Strider needs to be nerfed. Given that there are multiple items that replicate it’s effects and the mount is still easily available to you.
I think I would have less complaints if water striders kept their ability to water walk and also got a slot for an additional ability. That way the ability I worked to get still exists and I still get an additional ability I didn’t work for, just like everyone else now has. Does that make sense?
I already have a water walk mount (and a sky golem). If everyone else is getting an option to obtain an ability they didn’t work for, why should my ability that I did work for be rolled into that option? Why can’t I still have that ability on the mount I worked to get, PLUS a purchase ability? That would be the fair way to do things.
Reasoning is important and so far your reasons have been spite and you just dont want to put even the minimal amount of effort out to get the mount. Youve spent more time in here than you could have finished the dailies for the rep already and be that much closer to the mount.
didn’t have it for draenor and probably won’t for this expansion either but there is an item that dismounts and most likely kills you as a player so that is a fine alternative to flying in warmode
