Water Strider Discussion

it is unfair because I won’t do that old content for a mount that I don’t want to ride, as I’m sure many newcomers will feel the same way

I’d rather pay 40g a pop for an item when it lets me use whatever mount I want. The bug mount is ugly as sin and not fun to acquire. I’m sorry this means you have to pluck a few coins off the massive piles of gold almost every player has these days and feel that this is unreasonable.

how did I know :joy: so you didn’t care when a major nerf to warlocks were applied because you had the overall bonus of still having water walking, but for some reason you care now?

Then get a water strider

then you can pay the 40 for the item to use, people that are not lazy should not be punished.
I don’t do mythic raiding should I say those high end raiders are unfair because they got stuff I don’t…

I’ll use the mount equipment that the most welcome change that Blizzard is making will produce for me instead of doing the most boring thing about the game, rep farming

So the waterstrider is losing water walking but you can just use the equipment and it’ll have it again along all of your other mounts and people don’t like this?
Am I missing something?

OMG, here we go, the root of the problem. It’s “unfair” that I have to do the content you did to get the strider.

Then give everyone an ashes or something to mog a mount into ashes while you are at it cuz the only way you get that is old content!

No because anyone can go get the water strider, it is just considered a bad mechanic in the game and that is why it is being changed, but neither of us can complete mythic jaina yet because we are unskilled or unmotivated to do so, which is the true laziness imo, not unfairness

So you are anti choice, you don’t want the ones that have it to keep the choice to use it as it is, I have no problem with you throwing your gold away to make others walk on water, that;s your choice.

because it’s not a one time use item, it’s a consumable. meaning, if you use it and change your mind to use another item, you have to REBUY the item and replace it, everytime, on every character/mount ( I don’t know if it’s been settled yet whether it’s character/mount bound)

so, they are taking away something that took many of us a long time to obtain, in order to have us repurchase it over and over again. it’s a gold sink that we’ve already done a time sink on.

they are calling others lazy for not getting the water strider whilst being hypocritical

As a note, it is said that you will still need the Angler’s rep to get the price of 40g. So those that do not have the mount or rep, they will need to acquire it to have that price.

At least that is the info relayed from the blue post.

I’m not the one crying it’s unfair they have something I don’t…

It’s so bad they’ll sell you the same mechanic for 40 gold a pop, makes perfect sense…

The strider provides an acute advantage in PvP and PvE scenarios, both of which can be elite end game content, transmog is not, it is cosmetic and unrelatable which is why it can be tied to old content just like shop mounts are tied to real $

Literally something changes. That’s what literally means. Blizzard has introduced a method of gating the effect of the water strider.

You know what would be cool? Using legacy tier items for Time Walking. You know what’s not cool? Blizzard disabling the set bonuses and effects because reasons. You know what else is cool? Farming old raids for mogs. You know what’s not cool? Blizzard introducing a complex legacy loot system that keeps you from farming the raids of the last xpack because they’re not legacy, EVEN THOUGH the tier armor and artifact weapons have “Legacy” on the item information.

It’s not like there isn’t precedent for player ire, if you’re willing to read/listen to it.

You mean the equipment won’t have the same requirements the strider has?

every expansion takes away the highest ilvl gear that took players months to obtain, in order to replace that gear and climb the ladder again…
I don’t see your point

Leaving the Strider untouched is the anti-choice option.

Yeah, that sucks.

But now I don’t have to grind that stupid mount because I can apply it to whatever mount I want, like my Argent Hippogryph or my Bloodbathed bone dragon. Those are mounts I feel like I put way more work into and I wasn’t about to sink time into a piss-ugly insect JUST because it had water walking.

If you did that, hey, you had five years of water-skimming delight.

This is a better system.
