With the slot assigned to the player and not the mount, this isn’t possible right now. Maybe if they develop this system further, they can make it so the Water Strider is a mount with no slots that only has water walking.
I agree. Any time anyone in a game has to get one specific item because of what it can do is a terrible thing. All items should do all things, or at least be able to.
I no longer want to farm a special hammer or bow. I want all hammers and bows to have the option of being able to do what the special hammer or bow used to be able to do!
It’s just silly that people should work for something unique in a game!
(Also, I wonder how many people that are pro-Allied race-gating are also pro-Water Strider nerf. It’d be an interesting statistic.)

Ah but that would be cheating the system for players who are already too lazy to get the water strider and also for those that have the strider and are too lazy to swap to other mounts once they’ve crossed the pond!
This put’s everyone one the same playing field of water walk or don’t. And since even Blizzard claims Water Walking is “too stronk” Water Walking will be the default choice for EVERYONE post 8.2 rather than just those with the Strider now.
Unless they make daze 10X more frequent and jumping off cliffs the only way to get around.
so how are they doing it with the Golem then.

Question.
If you guys want the water strider to be untouched, and not benefit from the equipment slot, and can achieve that with the water walking item, literally nothing changes.
Why is there so much clamor for this?

Unless you’re leveling like five level 20 characters a day you’re never going to feel the cost of it and at this point you dislike the fact that innate water walking in one mount has to die so that all mounts can have some customization for once.

Does it matter, there is no reason to do crap like this, and maybe I do play 20 alts a day what’s it to you, point is I should not have something I get for free now taken away and then sold back to me (it would still be wrong it if was 1cp)
More choice is always good. If you were using the water walking mount because it was the only mount that had the passive then that’s bad for the game.
Tell me why more choice is bad.
It’s called a nerf, which is what blizz has been doing for over a decade. It would be unfair to all newcomers, and old players like me who have never gotten the water strider, to be as a disadvantage in gameplay on every alt we create while you get a free pass at waterwalking.
Again leave the stider along so I can choose to keep using it, and sell the crap to make other mounts able to, seems you’re the one against choices.

Were you this upset when the minor glyph for warlocks mount being able to water walk was also removed?
if you can’t be bother to get it, then you can pay the 40 and make others or choose to go to MOP and earn it and be on the same field, nothing unfair there.
herb gathering doesn’t provide an advantage to pvp or pve scenarios, water walking does
