Water Strider Discussion

That’s not just a nerf to the strider. That’s a nerf to water walking overall. You can’t water walk once you’re in water? What the heck is that? Blizzard is nerfing water walking if this is intended. Feels like flying 2.0.

Why do you hate player convenience so much, Blizzard? Why do you keep telling me I’m playing the game the wrong way?

And?

If Water Walking is so powerful that everyone only rides the Water Strider all the time then this change simply means everyone will slot Water Walking on every character all the time. It only adds an immersion breaking cosmetic choice of having mammoths and dinosaurs and birds and dragons and pigs and chickens all walking on water like Jesus.

Also:

Have you seen the Mortis thread where he’s says Water Strider players are getting a letter stating that the Anglers have been experimenting on the Striders which has caused them to lose their ability to walk on water?

Just about everyone I see that wants it to stay the same, agree’s it would not have the Equipment slots like the golem, what thread are you reading?

The point of mount equipment slots was (probably) to stop players from feeling like they HAD to get the Water Walking mount for a cool passive ability.

It’s absolutely stupid and indicative of an outdated system that only like two or three mounts have passive effects. It’s long overdue that we had some customization that let us change what our mounts are capable of. This is an MMO after all, where player choice and playstyles and how we build our characters to achieve what we think is fun is meant to be important.

No one got the Water Strider because it was fun or interesting. They got the Water Strider because it could do things no other mount can do. That’s stupid.

Players are still complaining that they have to do previous expansion content in Legion to unlock Allied Races. Doing MOP content to get the only mount with this ability is the same argument.

Mount Abilities equal out the playing field and give choice back to the player. More choices is always a good thing.

agreed, so leave the strider alone like the golem so we can choose to use it like we have been for years, and everyone else can choose to pay for the waterwalking crap on the other mounts and choose to use them.

Problem solved.

People only use the Strider because it has water walking.

If it’s the only mount that has innate water walking AND an equipment slot, what do you think is going to happen?

If they wanted to give us “more choices”, they could’ve made this system mount specific.

You really can’t read can you, what part of MAKE IT LIKE THE GOLEM WITH NO SLOTS CAN"T YOU GET TO SINK IN…

3k replies…I think actiblizz done messed up

You’re still stuck with it for herbing.
It’s a special exemption.

She said “leave WS alone”… so no equipment slot, just like the Golem

he’s either trolling or dense…

We can’t keep the strider as is, they are taking water walking away. To get it back we HAVE to use the equipment AND only have the one choice.

who in the world at blizz even had this idea…hey guys lets add stuff to mounts…nothing was even whispered about it from the players before…

And players have been clamoring for more choice for years, with the caveat being believable choices:

Cloud Serpents hover so they can also water walk instead of sinking whenever they encounter a puddle.

Dreadwake, being a boat also floats when it’s not flying.

Winged Mounts can hover over water or get a glide ability instead.

Hippos and basilisks get full mount speed in the water.

HH’s mount and Invincible can water walk by default when not flying.

1000 times better than buying inflatable shoes for your Mammoth, Yak, or Brontosaurus!

Except there’s MoP Timewalking for current item level gear plus currency to purchase rep tokens to get the mount.

Yeah, because these should be custom options to existing races on the character creation screen added with the expansion purchase and not locked behind irrelevant content that will only get more irrelevant as more time passes.

I meant leave it as is and not change it, like what they are doing with the golem. It would keep water walking and not have a slot to use for the new system.

If they can do it for the golem, we all know it can be done with the strider.

Blizzard and devs really don’t justify a case for removing mounts water walking but if we all sit here and do nothin others mounts will have Same fate as well

Definitely agree. I think there’s an argument for that and I hope Blizzard will develop this system even further.

My impression this was more a ‘don’t take water walking away’ argument and not a ‘don’t add a slot to it’ thing. I didn’t catch it.

Chill.

You keep bringing it up having the equ slot even when everyone keeps saying it would not have one, so it has to be one or the other…

Maybe you need to Chill and READ.
