Water Strider Discussion

Why would they be different slots? Why would not having a slot for farming matter, if they could make one just as easily as they did for water walking…

and why are you saying they’d use a different slot when it’s OBVIOUS farming equipment would displace water walking, because they clearly don’t want the two abilities available on the same mount.

Seriously… I’m not sure why you bother.

Reading your response gives me a headache. These people responding to you is like talking to a brick wall or worse.

Clearly you don’t care. Half or most of this stuff you written is incorrect or made up. Do you read back what you written before clicking “reply?” In reality, you like this change because the mount is ugly. We get it… you don’t like the mount.

You obviously have no respect towards anyone on this forum or the work they put in to get this mount.

The fact that we now have to spend gold on something that existed in the first place is beyond stupid.

The fact that we have to travel to an out-of-date zone (expansion) and buy something that we should not nor never be in game because “Blizzard tried to fix it” is beyond stupid.

We get it. You will have your mounts to chose from and equip them with their nicely sparkle boots. That is you. Blizzard has no reason to change the water strider.

There is no reason for this change.

I don’t know why I bother either. You and I are not going to agree about the topic, but at least I get what I want. There’s not point in either of us continuing because it is what it is.

Good to see you gave everyone the middle finger.

I for one am getting tired people telling others how we should play the game.

Basically, all that is changing is that those that already have a water strider get a free gizmo in the mail and within 3 seconds, their water strider (and all other mounts) will walk on water. So, the game for those folks did not change at all. Nothing was taken away. In fact, the only thing Blizz could have done to maybe even made it less effortless is to auto equip the slot for the player, but otherwise, that’s all it takes is 3 seconds or so and your stirder walks on water again.

To reiterate, you lost nothing. If you are upset that it costs gold or upset at all, it changes nothing, but ultimately, if you have that strider, the day 8.2 goes live, after mere seconds, you will be walking on water again. Nothing lost for you!

Now for others, something has been gained! They not only get to walk on water on the strider but on other mounts too! And others will give up water wlaking altogether (something they had AND COULD KEEP) but will now choose something else that was NOT available to them before.

In other words, you lose nothing if you want to walk on water.

I only have three fingers on each hand, so maybe I am just pointing up? But since this change does not hurt anyone at all and gives us even more, I am getting what I want.

My alchemist can make you some water walking pots in the meantime. They’ve been in the game for longer than the bug but people seem to forget they exist, or refuse to carry any for whatever reason.

If those potions are free, we have a deal!

Fine, you want an in-game example?

"Hey nice Heart of Azeroth you have there, we’re changing it to add a few slots and we reset all your azerite to zero!

Maybe you did something RIGHT and you’ll definitely get most of that azrite back right away!

Maybe you didn’t do the right thing, and you won’t get ANY of it back. Awww. Sorry about that!

But it’s okay! You can grind it back in mere days instead of weeks thanks to the Azerite Knowledge factor!

So Good Luck! And Happy Gaming!

Next time, get Heart of Azeroth Insurance to protect your investment. Taa!

Gaining more? How? By temporary having all your mounts have an ability?

Temporary because all these items are consumable.

There is nothing we are gaining. We are losing mats, gold, time, abilities of a mount.

Yep he has probed the water strider population to the point where they genetically altered them.

Nat Pagle - gentleman fisherman, beer connoisseur, and now horror-movie monster destroying entire species for his own profit.

CANON!

Guess it makes about as much sense as “1920s movie villain Sylvanas”.

Not true. The water walking ability granted by the “equipment” is a less capable version of what the water strider had natively.

That, of course, is the entire purpose of this change - to finally get that water strider nerf in while selling the poop to the players as though it were caviar.

Not really your place to determine that since, you know, you don’t speak for everyone. This is a good thing for you. We get that. It’s not good or desirable for everyone.

Can’t say that I’ve ever used one. Do you have to dismount to imbibe it? Because that right there would be a pretty big nuisance.

You are losing nothing, your water strider will walk on water. Try to think of it like this, the strider always had the “inflatable shoes”. Now, you can choose if you want your strider to have the shoes OR choose to other options instead! Because, that’s what this is. You can still just keep the shoes you always had, wlak on water, and go off and enjoy!

Or now, your strider can switch to something else using consumables- something they could not do before, but they can now and do not have to because it is an option, an option one can choose to take or leave, because they can simply say they always liked the strider walking on the water, and on the water it will still walk.

Does that help you understand? You have not lost anything. In your case, if you like water walking choose that consumable and never, ever change it out and it will literally be the exact same game you always played.

It does not hurt anyone because see post above. It’s the same as ever.

No, but now that I’ve opened my big mouth, I expect that to change.

That’s why it’s my rebuttal to “I HAVE TO use the strider if I’m not a dk/hunter/shaman and want to ride across water!!” No, no one does. I don’t use it on my mage, I use her meat wagon and a potion.

Check reports from PTR.
WW via equipment does not function in the same way as “traditional” WW always has with striders.

So yes, people will know a change has happened, because it behaves differently… as will all their other mounts.

on your other account… right?
if it was such a measly effort, surely you’d have it on all your accounts?

I am going to crank it out on this one during the MoP time walking coming up in a week and a half or so. In the meantime, this toon is just parked at the anglers, pop on, do the three quests each day, pop off.

Ooh actually, I should make a PSA thread the week of the MoP time walking to try and get the word out that everyone should get the mount that week. Or actually, sinc ethe cost of the actual mount is dropping from 5k to only 1k maybe it will be better for folks to wait until after 8.2 to buy the mount and just pay the 40g for the water thing.

Jesus christ people, stop feeding the troll.

I do not think this word means what you think it means.

Right now, if I’m on a non water walking mount and jump into water, I don’t take damage. Right now, all of my characters can use the water strider at level 20 without extra steps. Right now, I have the ability to choose between a mount that walks on water or any of the ones I have that don’t.

After 8.2, none of that is true. It literally won’t be the exact same game I’ve always played. You may think those changes are minor, but they’re still changes nontheless and not everyone is welcoming them.
