Nah, if they left it alone they’d need to make all mounts walk on water, or we’d end up with the same issue as before.
I am glad you are happy to pay any cost to get back something you already had in the middle of an expansion. Good for you. It’s like if blizzard made a flying training book you had to re-buy every patch.
Just playing around on the PTR with this terrible change in the Strider. I’m exalted with both Anglers and Nat, so I have both Strider mounts. I was only given 1 token of stupidity in the mail.
I went to my Garrison to see what Nat had for sale there, and he did NOT have any of the BoA items. I then headed over to the Wharf in Krasarang to visit that Nat, and his wares. He of course has the item there, but it didn’t state any rep requirement on it.
I then headed over on a character that hasn’t even encountered the Anglers or MoP Nat to see what the deal is. This character is still only 110 btw. I was able to purchase this item, even though I have no rep, and not a single other thing is available to me.
Interesting thing i noted, is that the tooltips for both mounts within the vendor window say “This mount can walk on water in non-battleground areas.”
Sad sad Strider
They did do that for wrath through mop actually. I believe most players on the forums praise that model.
My point is you are all acting like you will go completely bankrupt from the shoes. A single gold emissary funds 40 pairs of shoes.
That would be nice if they did, especially at launch!
My words have completely gone over your head. What part of “They can implement the features they’re currently considering. Just leave our striders alone, and don’t take away the way they work”, didn’t you understand?
What part of “they can design a variety of mounts that we can buy/craft/grind” was speaking a language you don’t understand? I’m not saying, and I don’t think ANYBODY believes we should be ONLY using striders for ww abilities. There’s just a better way to go about giving YOU a choice, than ripping OUR mount out from under us, and forcing us to repurchase a different form of what it currently has and calling it good enough.
You are happy on ruining peoples experience of the game. I would say you are acting trollish.
I am so glad you are not a dev. You would be playing by yourself as everyone else would have quit.
Glad to see you are forcing people to play your way.
Such a sad and disappointing state.
I think you’re the one not getting it. If they left it alone me, you, and everyone else would still be riding the ugly red bug anytime there was a puddle of water. What are you not getting? No one would ever put the inflatable shoes on ANY mount because we’d all have the strider that takes one day to obtain.
Sorry, what’s that issue again?
If they really wanted to give folks more water walking mount options, they could, oh, I don’t know, just make more water walking mount options without messing with what’s already in place.
This isn’t about giving players options. This is about having more control over how we navigate the world and limiting ways that we can currently make doing so more efficient. Everything else is just bread and circuses.
Every patch not every expansion.
Ex) If you bought your Panda flying in patch 5.2 you would have to buy it again in 5.3 and 5.4. Obviously if they slipped this into 9.0 prepatch they would have a better leg to stand on. Not 8.2, middle of an ongoing expansion.
I love this part, I wonder what a “fair amount more” will be.
If you say so, all I know is I genuinely like this. If you see me as trolling, maybe you are emotional over this change, I don’t know, but I should voice my opinion, right? That’s what everyone keeps telling me.
But not as readily as we have it now.
The change puts repeated travel to MoP and a gold cost in between us and what we currently have. The more characters a player has - the harder the strain to maintain what they currently have.
This seem to be very sensitive principles that are being broken/violated.
I can understand the visceral reaction from players and also why some voice a breach of trust. Objectively - I can’t disagree with how the facts regarding how this system impacts the present.
Labeling this breach of trust and principles is more severe than something that is a “little hectic”. Azerite Gear and all of it’s problems was hectic - but uniform and temporary. This Strider thing touches on something that negatively impacts those that earned something, to what they thought was a permanent thing.
It is this “yanking” away of this permanent thing - I think - that is hitting the nerve and where the contention is rooted.
Please - reconsider this decision. Please don’t underestimate it.
Whatever the server’s market makes it, I assume. It’s not like you’re going to be trading it out often.
So we have a cost, 40g, and people are still complaining about this?
Whatever someone sells it for. They are profession made. Blizzard cannot control the price of them. Depends entirely on how much people can get away with selling them for.
Meanwhile my 4 24 slot bags on an alt cost 50x as much.
They don’t care if you don’t buy something in game as long as you give them the IRL gold.
Because we’re being forced to pay FOR EVERY TOON to regain functionality ALL OF OUR TOONS HAVE HAD FOR YEARS.
There should be NO cost if you own a strider. IDGAF if it was one COPPER.
Unless they offer them from a vendor, but that’s not happening.
And it’s NOT just 40 gold. You have no right to disregard those who feel they shouldn’t have to pay anything, for what they already worked for, received, and have been using for years. I have enough gold to give just about everyone contributing to this discussion 40 gold to buy the item. It’s the principal, it’s a way for blizzard to EASILY remove the item and ability in future content. Have you learned nothing with their treatment of flying?
