Striders are a problem for them, because they don’t want their ability in future content. Someone else mentioned the very true definition of the fact that blizzard is trying to fix a problem they themselves created. Just like flying. This is no different, and I see no other explanation that makes a shred of sense as to why they consistently have this need to “give and take away”.

All else is moot, when you realize the above. This has gone to PTR. If anybody is still entertaining the idea that they’re actually giving our feedback ANY consideration from here on out, I have a bridge to sell you in Arizona.
For all my alts which can currently walk on water, I have to buy it. You could have chosen a number of methods to water walk before. No different than how Strider owners are getting shafted now. It just works out in your favor this time so screw everyone else.
Let’s try it a different way. How many things can you list that Blizzard changed in the live game because of forum complaints? Other than when they announced removing flying and a mass exodus of us ensued, I cannot think of another thing. Will expressing that you only want to water walk on the bug and no other mount (since that’s what we will all do) change anything? Will this thread? I’m going to lean towards nope.
So lets remove the Sandstone Drake Use as well and make it a item to pay for as well on blizzard store! Anyways Special mounts the water striders should take no use of mount equipment and keep its water walking. Mount Equipment only work with mounts that have no special uses simple as that
Actually, one of the things I am hoping is in the future they will have an equipment slot that makes the player into their mount and rideable. Like how Sandstone Drake works. It would be much more fun having the option to be a two seater but not turn into a rock dragon. I can only hope.
An additional point: the problem with the water strider was the idea that it was “too powerful”. So the point of the equipment would be to bring the other mounts up. Why do you need to knock the water strider down?
I agree nothing is going to change. They made their decision and it is not going to change. If they mailed for free a BoP token to all my alts I would just socket it into all my toons and ignore this entire debacle. But they are not. They are forcing me to pay for it again which is bloody rude.
It does not change the fact that the route they chose and what they are doing is rude. I will voice my opinion otherwise silence implies consent. I am not happy I am being punished. I am happy that people without the strider will have a water walk option. I am happy people stick of the strider have a different option. But it is rotten it comes at a cost to me.
Would you like us to not leave feedback on bad ideas because it doesn’t matter?
Would you like us to not care about how crappy an idea is; thus, the devs force our mouths open and feed us with a spoon because, “meh, devs will not listen to our feedback.”
Funny fact about this; Blizzard requests our feedback. Maybe there will be a change of mind later on down the road.
There is hope.
Wait, I thought paying for the game sub implies consent? That’s why they back pedaled on flying. The way they know when something is a bad idea is when the subs drop right after a single interview.
8.2 Release Day
Players are shown the options regarding the mount equipment that’s profession based. All of the players who are currently skilled in that profession, start hammering out those items, placing them in the AH at exorbitant prices. Players without those professional skills see those prices of the items they want to use, and swap in to leveling up whichever BfA level professions are gaining the recipes for those items, knowing that regardless of what the prices fall/increase to, these are items that are consumable, so they may as well just keep making them for themselves anyway.
And suddenly, half of the professions become even less of a part of the game.
I see these things because I was a gypsy once.
Still have my crystal ball…lost the other one.
If your doing one you do them all and just get over with remove flying as well… bfa… Big f*****g Accident! Lazyest xpack ever!!! you should be fixing under performing classes and other things but no we mess with old Mounts
I’ll have to wait and see. All I know is that my raptors will be water walking.
They could have just left everything alone, and developed different mounts with different abilities for us to grind/buy/craft…whatever. None of this had to happen at all. Striders were/are just fine…except to blizzard devs. They could make a mount that dances from one destination to another for what it’s worth, but noooo….they have to screw with one of the most beloved mounts in the game.
Nothing was or is stopping them from creating another fun water walking mount. It has nothing to do with people being sick of seeing the strider. That’s easily rectified. Create a big rubber duckie inflatable for all we care.
I think this system is better than what you describe or I’d have the same issue I already had- being forced to ride weird mounts I do not want to in order to have an ability. Now, I can ride whatever mount I want and give it whatever ability I want.
People cancelled subs because feedback was given. Blizzard ignored. More feedback was given, Blizzard dug in harder. People felt they had no other option but to quit in order to be heard.
You need every single issue to become a dramatic I’M QUITTING OR ELSE instead of feedback with alternate options given? Lots of other valid ideas have been given in this thread. You have to sift through a lot of junk to find them but they are in there.
Actually, if you look back at the news they did an about face in less than 10 days.
It’s a pity you don’t find WoW engaging and entertaining enough to keep you from wasting your time here taking tired old pot shots at people trying to convince blizzard to not break somethingb they enjoy. Again.
It’s weird to me and always will be when people fight for less options, but on the bright side, I have a system I like and want, so, it’s all good to me.
I wish I could like your post a dozen times. It gets so old, doesn’t it?
