What you have described here is player agency and player choice.
For you, your perception is that players would be mad to buy a piece of equipment to make their favourite mount walk on water, when it is so easy to get. Therefore you desire to make it harder to get.
This is no different to a stack of Herbs. Anyone can create a toon to get a stack in a day, of almost any Herb. We should not add Herb Equipment as a result.
When a set of rules are created, i.e. obtain Water Strider mount for water walking, then changing those rules and breaking the reward set in place is wrong. Calling out those that are changing the rules is right.
If they create mount equipment, and I can buy a token for 40 gold to make my Raptor have water walking then I would do it, and my alts can stick to the Water Strider, then it is win/win. I pay a sub to play this game, why should I pay with my gold and my time to have what I had yesterday? Why do I have to pay again? Why does this bring you pleasure?
Well I am going to continue to do the âwrong choiceâ and ride HATI because that fulfills my class fantasy that I have had since I tamed my first beast back in classic.
HATI and druid forms wonât get anything from mount equipment. Every druid who uses travel form has made the WRONG CHOICE.
Every herbalist who is not a blood DK has made the WRONG CHOICE.
Suck rocks blizzard
PS: In protest I am going to use the Water Strider as much as possible on all my non hunters because of how much it apparently bothers everyone. Youâre welcome.
I noticed this too, whilst leaping down onto the waterâs surface from the dock riding the meat wagon. Fall damage incurred, mount loses waterwalking. Re-checked using the water strider. Yep. Not the same water strider. Took fall damage, lost water walking. So, yeah no, itâs not the same as it has been because I can do the same thing on current live and the strider doesnât break surface tension and sink. Just keeps on keeping on.
This also seems like such an amazing idea and way of using the system. Maybe build on it in the future and let certain equip stack with âlesserâ secondary equip slots that could change by expansion to coincide with story/plot themeâs.
As much as I donât like the azerite gear system - I do appreciate how some of the traits draw from the current plot line and current progression bosses. Itâll be great to see how they grow and evolve it into the future.
Did you happen to notice if using the new WW equipment whether you get a visible buff icon you can use to click it off⊠Without dismounting yourself?
iâm just trying to confirm some of the info coming out of the ptr, because it seems to go against the grain of what was announced.
I was hoping to hear from someone who only owns the Crimson.
Announcement said items could be purchased from the vendor where the strider was purchased.
Crimson owners never required interaction or reputation with Anglers.
If Crimson owners canât purchase items from the garrison, where do they get theirs from?
eg: are they able to purchase from the Anglers, and if so, are they getting a âdiscountâ at a rate equivalent to the players who are exalted with Anglers.
AND has anyone looked into water walking being crafted?
(am i overthinking things here? i feel like this whole situation has just broken my brain with all the conflicting information!! i should prob just head over to the ptr forum)
I looked at the leather worker in Boralus and it was not listed. Since this is my highest character I am unable to check the new zones at the moment. So most likely it will be there. Wish I had info on the crafting costs and things for these to share.
Yup. This exactly. I would be fine with Mechagon having mount equipment that you have to grind rep for. Gives us a reason to grind the rep other than flying. Flying at revered. Water walking, Herbing while mounted, Mining while mounted, anti daze , etc, etc, etc.
That would be a good way to introduce this concept.
Nobully, forgive me, but it would seem to me that even players with both striders should be seeing an item listed from Nat Pagle in their garrisson fishing area, if such item was listed. This may be an oversight on the PTR, but it stands to reason that would be how it should be. Iâm still searching for my character who actually did the fishing. Closest Iâve come is one that has Nat Pagle in the garrison, but not enough rep to purchase that version of water strider, even though it shows âAlready Knownâ for me. However, I can see the list of items offered, and no, currently, the BoA water walking item is not in the list there.
when has feedback done any good>? betas from BfA, Legion, Draenor, etcâŠall the wrong implications that were added were complained about and the complaints were further broken down to show why it was a bad idea. made no diff, the devs did whatever they planned to do in the 1st place.
who actually posted, âHey, too many portals in this game. letâs have most of them removed. have them all centralized and let us also have them port the player to some location which is not the main city. yeah lets do thisâ
This is still ridiculous. If they can exempt the sky golem, then there is no reasonable excuse not to do the same for the strider mounts. This is blatantly nerfing a mount that many players spent many hours to farm, and then selling us back the ability that is being taken away, just in a different and slightly more annoying form.
In my opinion the only acceptable options are the following from most to least desirable.
Exempt Striders from the equipment slots and leave their WW ability intact as is being done for the Sky Golem herbing ability.
Make the equipment slots per mount, instead of per character.
Make the WW shoes FREE to players who own a strider mount.
Well, your questions are all different and loaded. Why should you pay with your gold and time with what you had yesterday? One option you have is to not do so. Simply do not play. Another would be to use those inflatable feet. Things change, this game changes, and if change is not your thing or if something changes that does not make the game fun for you, then my advice would be to go find something you do enjoy and spend your time doing that.
Why does this change bring me pleasure? Because I like it. I like that I do not feel forced to ride a mount I do not want to ride in order to water walk. Now, if I want to water walk I can. I like how it will give some professions new things to create. And, I like the idea that so much more can be added to this new system in the future. Things I like- bring me pleasure.
The way it works right now on ptr⊠You receive your water boots in the mail. You equip it on your mount slot. This item is consumable, which means you can use it once. Yes once!!
If you want to use one of the other said items, (immune to daze, etc) it will destroy the current equip item, thus you will have to buy more.
Currently our water strider does not need any equipt item and happily walk on water.
This is the second worse idea next the exclusive druid travel form glyphs. (Currently we have to destroy our glyph and use another in order to take advantage of another travel form.)
Some people would rather have all their mounts to have water walk because they feel fake âforcedâ to use the strider 100% of the time and they donât care that other people have to pay to get their function back.
