Character A had rep with Anglers, one free in the mail.
Character B had rep with the Fishing Shack, one free in mail.
Players who have reps for both on one character may receive two each, I dunno.

FTR

  • New characters made level 20, no free item.

  • Copied character @ level 25 with ability to currently ride waterstrider, no free item.

I believe money is not a problem at all. Is more the hassle of this system and that some people (including me) feel like they are taking something from us.

So. I was hoping it wouldnā€™t be more than 15 gold.

Indeed. I had a moment where I wasnā€™t sure Iā€™d be able to get to Pandaria at all because most of the portal was null space.

I mean, if you want to be hardline about it and be fairā€¦we are paying for what we already had and itā€™s temporary, assuming you ever want to use one of the other pieces of equipment. I say itā€™s a total fail.

At least itā€™s not 5,000 gold but it should be free.

Still not sure how the price changes the basic philosophy behind what is being done, which is removing baseline functionality from one mount so they can sell it back to us. The fact theyā€™re disguising it behind ā€œbut the paid version is for ALL mountsā€ doesnā€™t change what theyā€™re doing. They could sell us an upgrade to ALL mounts without breaking the one mount which already has the ability.

Imagine if they expand this to other account wide elements of the game. Do you want to pay for your alts to have access to the toys they didnā€™t personally earn? How about a low one time fee to make the transmog appearances youā€™ve unlocked account wide again?

Oh I knew what little regard they had for player achievements when the removed First Aid and all the achievement points with it, like it never existed and you never did the work.

Iā€™d be fine if people could get water walking for all of their mounts for the low, low price of 50gā€¦just so long as the strider was being exempted from the system. Iā€™m fully on the side of Blizzard being less restrictive towards players, not more.

Worst part is that they sequestered it into tailoring so if you like first aid you have no access to it anymore unless you have tailoring. Sad really.

Absolutely. The most disappointing thing about this system is that it could have been a fantastic way to actually increase player choice and agency and provide mount versatility and variety, but instead theyā€™re doing it in a way that does the opposite.
