EDIT - It was a fluke. Still don’t know how it occurred. But it did, and made me hopeful. But the gist of it is that I was able to apply a single water walking item that was in my bag to this character’s mount equipment slot, the item remained in the bag, and I was able to mail it to an alt. 2nd attempt at this using a character that had a stack of 19 of the items in their bag showed the item being consumed on use, aka, the stacks quantity was reduced by 1.
Yeah, but checking on a copied level 25 alt and also on a level 20 newly rolled, the slot itself in the mount tab says it doesn’t open up until level 100.
Don’t know if that’s a change or a bug.
But as it stands, the water strider does not stride without it.
It’s not about any of that. All that matters to them is: Will it make things take longer? Will it prevent them from dodging our obstacles? Will it use up gold that will potentially increase our token sales? Can we ram it gently enough to where they don’t leave?
That doesn’t drastically change the game, does it? I mean, WoW’s always had voice acting, and all AOE looting really did is make it easier to ninja skins.
Are you really arguing that it would be a better game if you just didn’t have multiple characters and that one character could just do everything?
New to this forum post stuff, but I think a nice way to solve some of the issues people would have here is to implement the mount equipment system similar to the heirloom system. People with the water strider mount would get the item for free on day 1, and it would apply to their account making it free and available for alts. Acquiring new equipment can have a slightly higher cost initially, like heirlooms, but they are applied to the account and dont have to be repurchased. Once you have purchased/earned the equipment you want, you can apply them on all characters.
To avoid having all the perks all the time by constantly switching equipment items, you could have a cooldown similar to the Loa buff Zandalari Trolls get (probably not as long though). This reinforces making a strategic decision, but doesn’t harm the player base by having to repurchase equipment all the time.
Having a lot of alts (probably too many), being able to pick mount equipment without having to log on my main, travel to the vendor, buy the item, and send it to my alt every time I want to change equipment items would feel rewarding. I wouldn’t lose my immersion, and would feel like utilizing the system rather than picking one equipment item and never looking at it again. Just my two cents
Ok.
This is getting weirder.
A single item purchased was place into this character’s mount slot.
(The free one received in the mail is still in the mail box)
I was able to mail the purchased one to an alt after placing in my mount slot.
However, on a second character, same scenario (the mailed one still in the mailbox), I purchased 19 of them, and yes, they stack. However, upon using one in that character’s mount slot, the quantity in the stack dropped to 18, so it burned one.
Yet, the original devs (you know…those guys who “designed” the game) made it clear, in fact boasted, that WOW was a welcoming game for all styles of play?
Just because the game caters to dungeoneers and raiders as players who seek the more difficult and rewarding style of play does not mean that the game MUST be played that way.
The early devs created a game that was more open and with many choices for different types of players in order to meet the needs of the many styles of play.
If dungeons and raids were the only focus of this game, we would not have pet battles. The devs would not have, long ago, removed the requirements for only groups to be able to access dungeons and raids, in order to farm for items, for those who do not necessarily engage in the more difficult end game play.
These are just a couple of the things that the early devs did to express their desire to create a game that could meet the needs of many types of players.
They created a game for the many different styles of players and this resulted in an mmo that broke all of the records.
All of this has been trashed by the current devs. They are not interested in anything but dungeons and raids.
Especially raids.
In Legion, they happily gave away what other players had always been able to obtain (flying, hunter taming of rare pets, and many more things) to dungeoneers and raiders and pretty much made it clear that they had no problem taking things away from players of other play styles. Nearly everything that non-group instance players had to look forward to was taken away and given to dungeoneers and raiders.
I am waiting to see how flying is handled in BfA and if they will, once again, show no regard for their players who are not totally committed to dungeon and raid play.
Yes this game was created for ALL of us, but yes it is true that there appears to be little respect, currently, for those same players.
Dungeoneers and raiders rule and if that creates more discord and animosity among the community members…so be it.
