There is so much to do with just one character at max level you could log in everyday and still not have everything. Heaven forbid you have a stable of alts you would also like to level but you know that’s time taken away from grinding a little higher on your main. That’s the issue.
People who enjoy alts can’t spend the extra time to grind the same reputations over again… if they wish to stay competitive. At some point something has to give. Usually people just step out of the game… stop playing instead of doing the same thing over again. I know that if I could level an alt while gaining reputation progress on a Paragon box it would be killing two birds with one stone.
Currently, it takes several weeks at max level to hit exalted with a reputation. That vendor offers gear up to item level 350… which by the time you’ve unlocked it’s worthless. If reputations were account-wide it would be a leg up for your alts… not a bad thing by any stretch.
For all those fighting for the waterstrider to keep it’s natural water walking. Thank you. Keep going I think this thing can hit 3k by the end of the day.
In your honor (puts how more homemade mac and cheese with bacon in it and a baked cheese crust) please enjoy.
For those of you fighting for blizzard. Ummm you can have this tray of expired egg yok’s …my treat.
My honor level is 104, and yet I’m not a PvP’er, never have been. I did enough to get some rewards I wanted but it’s not something I particularly enjoy. At all.
But I recognize that a big part of WoW’s popularity DEPENDS on PvP so I want it to be successful.
And Rewards/Balance/Gearing/Traits/Abilities are a big huge nasty complex ball of theorycraft and nuance and risk… and things that devs SHOULD ABSOLUTELY FOCUS ON MORE.
Instead of ‘fixing stuff that ain’t broke’ with lazy and poorly thought-through changes like this mount-equipment thing.
Apparently the ability to swap passives by swapping mounts is something Blizzard doesn’t want us to have. There are several posters in these threads who are saying that very thing: Blizzard doesn’t want you to do that.
And if that’s the case, then it’s clear Blizzard isn’t introducing equipment to give us options of which mount to ride, it’s to decrease our options of what ability to use.
Anyone who thinks barding, stirrups, and hoof plates aren’t on the chopping block once mount equipment goes live is deluding themselves. And frankly, even if they’re on the PTR it’s not proof they’ll be kept in game. Remember how we all thought the weekly mythic+ chests were going to drop both regular gear and azerite armor, right up until things went live with a heavily nerfed system? We can no longer trust that the PTR is going to be “what you see is what you’ll get.”
You do realize that there exists a close comparison between what you propose to do and the tort of Trespass to Chattel and Conversion? If you did not have the Token system this probably would not be an issue, but by removing a feature from something that is closely linked (Azure Water Strider) to something with a real world value (battle.net balance) then reintroducing that feature as a sale-able item from a vendor for in game gold (something that can be converted into real world value with real worth) you are effectively stealing from the player? You are meddling with the features of an already legally obtained item in such a manner as to destroy its worth in the open market. This is the definition of Conversion. But don’t take my word for it Lets look at the elements for Conversion:
First, that the plaintiff owns or has the right to possess the personal property in question at the time of the interference;
The player may not own the Azure Water Strider but they have every right to possess it as per the terms of the contract set forth in the Terms of Service.
Second, that the defendant intentionally interfered with the plaintiff’s personal property (sometimes also described as exercising “dominion and control” over it);
The 8.2 Changes Document that this is an INTENTIONAL CHANGE
Third, that the interference deprived the plaintiff of possession or use of the personal property in question; and
Again the change documentation ambiguous as it is would lead a reasonable person to conclude that the change deprives the player of the use of the Water Strider for the purpose that it was intended to serve within the context of the game.
Fourth, that the interference caused damages to the plaintiff.
Removal of value from the marketplace would certainly qualify as a qualifying type of damage. If you as the defendant cause something I own or have the right to possess to lose value that is an actual damage.
Frivolous pursuit? Possibly. Would a judge hear such a case? I have no idea that they would. Should Blizzard Entertainment find out? That would be a decision best left to the game designers and the legal staff at Blizzard Entertainment. The real question here is an ethical and not truly a legal one.
Can the designers do this and get away with it? Quite possibly.
Should they if they still enjoy income from all the players that currently play the game? Again something they should definitely think all the way through because you never know. That judge just might hear such a case, and that judge might just decide that a civil class action suit is ripe, and the jury might just find that Blizzard Entertainment is liable for damages and that jury might even award punitive damages to deter other games content creators from trying similar shenanigans.
A lot of ifs there and I discount by a high probability the reality of such a suit moving forward but, as any good attorney will tell you: It is better not to have to endure the uncertainty of the courtroom.
But something you really should think on devs. Why go out of your way to bring harm to those who pay for your goods. You MIGHT make a little profit in the short term, but in the long term you will ALWAYS lose.
At 400+ … it is for me. Toys, xmog, mounts… after I’ve hit that point of ‘diminishing returns’ with current content, that’s pretty much all I do until I burn-out and stop playing until new content comes out. And some years that’s more /played time than doing the actual new content took.

a popularity is showing that they dislike current class design/gearing, especially towards PvP would you explain me why Blizzard is ignoring such core things?
It seems like the majority is brainwashed usually there should be everyday a thread with the same popularity like this one, but about core things and not small things like water strider. But many people are quite strict delusional (no offense) and are ignoring such important things which will cause the end of PvP for example pretty soon.
I can understand the roar behind water striders but it isn’t deserved in it’s popularity.

Not everyone does PVP. Personally, I can’t stand it, therefore, I don’t participate in discussions about it. I thought just about everyone had a strider, but I’ve found out just over half do…but no matter.
This discussion relates to EVERYONE, not just those who prefer a particular play style, like pve vs pvp. Everyone travels. Taking away something people a majority travel with and are VERY used to, for NO GOOD REASON WHATSOEVER, is naturally going to get a whole lot of feedback.
I am very interested to find out of the devs in this game are going to be willing to listen to the overwhelming opposition to the suggested changes, or if they’re going to flip all the players the bird. Just like they did with flying.
Yeah… probs #3 but still super important. And primary to a lot of people. Primary as in they spend the vast majority of their time pursuing those goals.
For you personally, sure. I have over 1000 unique pets and all the Mage Tower skins for every class. That doesn’t make them key features of the game. They’re popular secondary features that you’ve chosen to focus on.
Strange thing is that very often it does do that. Fails to stay on top of the water. Falls in, or doesn’t work at all when you cross the land terrain to water. They going to bother to fix that? Doubt it.
This dev team isn’t going to last long as this rate. Legit they don’t know what a MMORPG is about and working and accomplishing something. Especially when it was an account bound item and a blue arrogantly asks how much gold is a fair price for something you already earned and is free?
Whether we can or can’t do something, there should be an in-world reason for it.
“The devs said no flight. Not here. Not yet. Maybe later.” Isn’t an “in-game” reason… it’s a meta-reason.
And arbitrary illogical inconsistent game behavior like that utterly WRECKS immersion.
Make restrictions make sense to my character in the world, not me out here who understands that Blizzard is a business with metrics to meet, because it’s not my job to help their numbers. It’s their job to keep us happy enough to keep playing.
