Honestly, Iâm just tired of everything being a âsystemâ, especially in this case, when I donât know what the system is trying to fix.
Are you fixing the fact that some people donât have a water walking mount? Thatâs⌠thatâs intended. You have to do the content that awards the mount to get the mount.
Are you fixing the fact that you canât water walk on every mount? Again, thatâs intended. A select few mounts have extra perks for using them. If you want to be on your pretty mount, go for it; you can use it 90% of the time. If you want to walk on water, use the water walking mount.
The only time I saw anyone complaining about water walking mounts was when someone else had one and they didnât, and they didnât want to do the requirements set forth by the game to obtain one. I donât think I ever saw someone say, âI want my mount to walk on water, but I really want to use a Tundra Mammoth.â So really, this boils down to people wanting something without working for it.
Are you really going to argue itâs a matter of choice, though? Because, look, sometimes Iâd really like to play my rogue in a group that needs a tank or a healer, but I canât, because rogues canât do that, and you couldnât make rogues do that without shoehorning in some idiotic mechanic to enable it. I mean, sure, rogues could heal by throwing daggers at party members tipped with healing potions or some cockamamie explanation like that, much like mammoths can walk on water once they put on special shoes, but theyâre both pretty asinine explanations.
I can buy the idea that a water strider can walk on water. We have that in real life. Itâs grounded in reality, and it makes sense within the game world. Granted, youâre playing fast and loose with the physics of it by having a player sit on top of it and the thing still being able to walk on water, but the essence of it makes sense. But other mounts, not so much.
Tell you what. Show me a video of a cat standing in the bathtub with individual floaty shoes on its feet, and Iâll buy into the concept of mount equipment. Until then, this is just an over-engineered âsystemâ designed to make the have-nots feel better rather than doing a much more sane solution like putting an easier-to-get water walking mount in the game.
