and lord…I did the long grind for the strider on two accounts.
Its like 20 minutes a day for 8 or 9 days.
anyone who cant do that probably needs to find another game.
On this, I’m in 100% agreement. Nice to find some common ground with you.
One, thats it, one, every single other one, since they are single use, costs.
The last blue post was exactly about how much the second and beyond should cost, so it will, in fact, have a cost.
Sounds like a problem Blizzard made out of nowhere then. The fact you can buy the equipment from a vendor just as much destroys the “economy” as well but you havent spoken against that.
A) PTR is a death sentence for any future changes.
B) I’m not the one who called you a troll. And why don’t you tally up just how many people want the water strider to retain its water walking ability and exclude it from the equipment?
C) I don’t hate Blizzard. I hate the changes they are making.
D) This isn’t content. That’s a complete farce.
The player earned the Angler’s reputation along with a Bind on Account Mount that has the water walking ability. If you refuse to give the Water Strider the Sky Golem treatment (unaffected by mount equipment yet keeps it’s unique ability)… then the only fair compromise would be a BoA item (probably a Toy) that dispenses unlimited BoA Inflatable Shoes. Getting a one time use item that gives a character water walking is unacceptable when we had unlimited water walking before the change.
TL;DR ~ BoA Mount is roughly equal to reusable BoA mount equipment… those who have it should never have to buy it… or make Water Strider special case.
Because you still earned it, it’s not like Angler rep has ever been hard to get, just tedious at first.
Problem: Now you’re buying a useless mount, congrats.
This literally makes no sense to me.
Boggles the mind how they would spend time and resources on something literally NO ONE has complained about or made a big deal over…
Unless I missed the hundreds of threads where people yelled to remove Water Walking from the only mount in the game that is able to walk on Water!!! A WATER Strider!
Yikes Blizz!! I usually defend or at least see the logic in your choices/changes, but this one… no can do!!!
You are blowing it big time!
Don’t fix what ain’t broke!
If that was your point, it needs sharpening, as that was content from ten+ years ago that nobody wanted to do, it was just something they had to. Nobody has to get the strider. But for many of us it’s more convenient to not have to slowly swim through water.
And again, it was fun to do the attunements. Fishing is not in any way fun, and should be outlawed by the Geneva convention. It’s like the class quests used to be. The druid flight form one was one of the best I’d ever done, where you had to use all of your class’s abilities. Being a cat/bear at the time, it was difficult to do the magic fighting or healing parts, but it was an enjoyable challenge.
Doing exactly the same thing four times a day for a month? That’s not fun. Losing an ability that I had to do that for? Also not fun.
The purchasable equipment is boa, but the slot you apply it to is per character. You get one free waterboots for your toon you have the rep on, but you have to purchase it for every other alt you have and then send the item to them.
You get one free water walking on one character, afaik. So alts are screwed. The equipment application is by character, not account. And the application applies to all mounts, not just one.
so it’s a way for them to make a gold sink for something we already get for free.
I just love how you straight-up ignored everything else I wrote in that comment and focused entirely on the first paragraph. Maybe you should go back and read it again.
It appears that the director is catering to the designer which is always a bad thing. You don’t ask Marilyn Monroe to stand in a spot to make the backdrop look good.
In other words, we are the star of this show and telling us to do something to show off the design elements is never a good thing.
Don’t FIX what ain’t BROKE!!
Yeah. I defend Blizz alot because I either agree with them, or I understand their stated logic even if I disagree…
The removal of water walking from the Strider is insane. Petty. Malicious. I cant agree with it or even understand the logic - other than a new gold sink that makes us buy equipment for Alts when we had an Account Bound Mount already.
It’s disgusting.
ATVI puts are paying great
This company is dumb as hell
They are messing with stuff that’s not broken
No one is asking for this. Most of the suggestions are to treat the strider like the golem where they can’t use the equipment.
Yup, hence the torches and pitchforks, we earned and purchased the striders as account bound waterwalking mounts.
They are essentially removing the account bound waterwalking effect and will now be charging us PER character to have access to something we already have.
I feel that the game continues to erode the line between a main and an alt. There are competing priorities involved in making these decisions. If I reroll to a fresh “main,” how much of the progress I made on my original main should automatically transfer over? I don’t think you’re going to get a consistent answer from the community.
Personally, I would argue that cosmetic items should be account wide.
Extreme gates like should become account wide a major patch after they were introduced. What I define as extreme are things like reputation requirements. An example of this would be that the recipes introduced in 8.0.1 would become BoA items in Season 2; but, the new recipes introduced in season 3 remain BoP until Season 3.
Regarding the water strider mount directly. I have used the water strider significantly when I am not able to fly. I have it hot-keyed to my bar; but, it is not in my favorite mount list and I have my fav mounts also hot-keyed to my bar. I use the water-strider because it provides a significant and tangible advantage, even though I don’t care for it in any other way. The sky golem is much the same.
Thank you for reading through all that.
What is this nonsense? It walks on water… it was designed for this. How is this something Powerful?
Dumb…
