Why would I waste time dismounting once I’m near water then mounting up again then repeating once off the water?

I dunno… maybe because you don’t have the WW buff because something tagged you a minute ago as you were running by?

Happens to me all the time, which is why I don’t mind switching from non-WW to WW mount when I wade into the shallows.

I saw that, and that’s a great suggestion in my honest opinion. However, by the looks of the thread- most people will not be happy with it because they want their ‘hard earned’ strider to be able to equip something while keeping its innate ability, thus having 2 abilities.

Please learn to read, how many people is actually asking for something that clearly sounds broken, what most of us want is to keep the mount as it is, and leave it like the Sky Golem thats all simple and old water walking to not waste on “affordable” new mumbo jumbo

Like i said- equip the FREE shoes, and you have your water walking.

I really don’t see this as an issue. I’d rather have water-walking on all of my mounts or ones I specifically choose as opposed to just 1. I grinded for it back in WoD and I still don’t really mind.

However, I’m also of the opinion that mounts should have like 1 special ability per mount like a charge/leap, a speed increase, etc. Similar to GW2 I guess. I’d rather see this than mount equipment.

Regardless though I just don’t see this as an issue at all. I guess you could leave the WW on the strider and have it not benefit from mount equipment though, I don’t see that being a problem either.

Pretty sure they wouldn’t do that. Equipment at the impact of what they have planned so far does not have the same gameplay implications as flying. They are no where the same.

First you suggest:

“Striders are Obviously Overpowered and must be fixed”

Now it’s:

“Striders are too trivial to end up gated behind late-expansion achievements.”

Be consistent.

Rep grinding has always been a thing ever since vanilla. It’s funny all you people are so upset over something silly like this. Why not be upset over the molten core attunement process? Why not be upset over karazhan attunement process? All that took hours and hours to do and the list goes on. Why are you not upset about it? Because it’s old content, just like the water walking mount, it’s old content. If I really wanted to go back and grind that rep out as a 120 it would take me about 10 minutes a day compared to the hours it would back then. Or just simply go to the vendor and use all those time walking badges I have saved up from all the time walking events I have saved.

Yeah, you’re out of it. Those attunements no longer exist, and haven’t for years. You don’t need a molten core attunement to get the teleport, you don’t need the aqual essence to put out the runes, you don’t need anything to get into Karazhan anymore.

I did all of those when they were relevant. At the time, they were fun, aside from the aqual thing to get the permanent vial, but because you had the other ones, you could work your way up to it in stages with little trouble. My little raiding guild even got halfway through old Naxxramas before it’s attunement and the dungeon itself were taken away.

There aren’t attunements anymore, which is a shame. Having a goal to work toward was fun. Now it’s just ‘do the same four quests every day for six months so you can get exalted so you can buy equipment that isn’t as good as what you had when you started’.

I know that’s the point no one cares or is complaining about those being stripped away basically when it was live and now anyone can go inside those raids as they please. You just made my point thank you

Nope…the WATER STRIDER now has to have GEAR to STRIDE on WATER.

When I first heard about this change, I thought the complaints were over blown. But the Strider proponents have won me over. I know it makes little difference, but Blizz should not remove water walking from the Strider.

It is purely malicious. They are taking away a reward they had us work to earn, in order to make us waste more gold and time. Purely to boost their metrics by destroying what we have earned in the past while paying their subscription fees.

It is loathsome.

All these comments about a mount from 7 years ago? Why is no one upset that I can use TW badges to essentially get this mount in less than a day?

Why is no one upset about that especially when there are comments about having to grind for it and earn the mount. Lol what grind? A days worth of TW is a grind?

Some of us (like me) paid the long ago “I WANT IT NOW!” price. You paid the “I CAN WAIT!” discount price.

Doesn’t bother me in the slightest. More things should work like that. And there should be a steady stream of new/hard-to-obtain-BETTER things to work towards to keep those of us who like paying the “WANT IT NOW!” price entertained.

A) The patch just hit PTR so there is no final decision as to how to account for alts.
B) I was deliberately speaking of the people wanting the strider to keep its innate ability whilst being able to put on equipment for an additional ability. I am not ‘trolling’
C) If you hate Blizzard so much- just hit the unsub button and go about your life.
D) Take away the positives from the changes and be happy that there will be new content.

do those one pair of free shoes bind on account and will work on every toon I log onto jump onto the Strider and any new toons high enough to ride, or do I have to go get one for every toon that I want to have access to the striders water walking from now on.

What am I not getting here? You get one FREE gem-whatever for each character you grinded the rep. The thingy goes into the slot and the water floaters are available on all your characters… on all your mounts/account wide.

Am I wrong? Please let me know what I am not getting.

This doesn’t look pretty.
We have water walking potions and goblin glider kits and the LW thing to prevent dazing. So, why is this happening?
They could have offered a new strider mount in this expansion; maybe the yellow one from the tortollans.
AND, why not a real good thing instead of these three? Like an astounding speed boost (like the skull toy in WoD) or a prowl mechanic?
