I cant even play allied races because my account is maxed out, so all THAT grind is pointless to me too (theres a lot of reasons i let my sub drop in december).
This statement is nonsense. You literally don’t have enough subscribers to ignore backlash this strong over -a single- special mount having its ability removed. This has all of the signs to any of us who have played prior to BFA, of Blizzard taking away a feature, and adding back a watered-down version (pun intended) which will most likely be subjected to time, reputation and achievement gating in future expansions. Good luck trying to let this thing blow over.

You guys are really out of touch with the community. Your making the game worse. I’m only sub for classic coming out. Please do not touch classic. Leave classic classic.
Do your devs even play the game, interact with the player base? They need to.

I agree with you - I try not to use it any more than I have to and can avoid it for the most part with great success. But then why does Blizzard think it’s too prevelant in the game?
I personally took all other mounts off my bars and solely use the strider on all my toons until flying comes out.
It’s quite simple. The water strider should maintain its ability to walk on water and not benefit from any other equipment. It rewards the players that worked to earn the strider while also allowing people who did not the ability to empower their mounts with water walking using their equipment slot.
This isn’t like pulling flying away at the start of an expansion, it’s punishing people who worked to earn something by ripping it away unless you are willing to A: pay money to get it back, and B: not have one of the other equipment options.

Personally i’m fine with mount equipment, it’s a neat idea. However, leave the strider alone. Let it retain it’s ability and not benefit from the mount equipment.

I say they should scrap this stupid mount equipment idea entirely and make the mounts themselves more interesting.
Make swimming mounts swim at full mounted speed instead of just 34% bonus.
Give the Basilisk mounts swimming because the real world creatures they are based on are excellent swimmers.
Give the Dreadwake and all other ground hovering mounts water walking.
Give some mounts a mountain climbing ability or something.
Seriously, just take a page from nature and give mounts unique abilities. Make them more interesting, not just a vehicle for going places faster.
Or if they’re are dead set on draining gold out of the economy with this stupid socket system then at least they could give us more options. Let us have choices. Give us a “default” one-for-all socket that applies to all mounts and give every mount an override socket that we can slot to replace the ability of an individual mount. That’ll drain gold and be much more palatable.
(This would also solve the “problem” of the Water Strider by allowing us to put the water walking shoes on either the default slot or individual mounts as we so choose. And for pity sale make the sockets totally account wide, nothing would be more obnoxious than having to set this up again and again on every alt.)
I mean seriously, the mount equipment idea as presented is just boring.

I normally never go on the forums let alone respond to anything. But having played since vanilla with minor breaks (end of mop and wod) I find that players who find this as a negative thing is a bit confusing for me. Now I know back in MOP getting the water strider Mount was a grind and that by allowing all players to have a water walking mount without the work that they put in makes them feel stripped of that hard work. But I think players fail to realise or understand that it’s very easy to obtain the rep now by doing time walking dungeons. Most of us run the time walking event for the item reward and over the course of a few events you can easily use your badges for the rep. This decision by blizzard is honestly a god send because it allows more customization with mounts. It’s a first step to making bigger steps with mounts. Those players who are upset fail to realise that there can be a much bigger picture later on. In addition let’s say the time walking event wasn’t a thing, how easy is it to take your 120 character and do the dailies and plow through the content now as compared to back then. Either way it’s not much of a grind so there really isn’t anything to be upset over. I see something a small building block that can be built upon to make a WoW experience better and who wouldn’t want that?

The fact that there’s various other options that accomplish the same thing makes this whole change and system feel like some way to undermine us and pull something over our eyes.

MoP Timewalking isn’t until September.
For someone without the bonus rep in MoP it takes about a month. If you have the bonus rep from another character on your account (1000 rep per daily) it takes about 15 days.
The only real reason to do it now is to obtain the discounted price for the shoes. What discounted means, who knows.

I’m sure they do. That’s why they’ll be disappearing shortly, or in the next expansion suddenly grow ‘only usable in the last expansion’ tags.
Oh you’re right it starts on the 30th. Guess I skipped over that. How do you get the rep quickly during the TW event? I never looked into that. I’m grinding out the Anglers rep again right now and I might just wait for that instead.
you get one, on one character. They are consumed on use.
