Water Strider Discussion

I think this is one of those times where they want to retraced their steps, and wished they’d made the water walking ability only available to characters who had acquired the rep.

I feel they made a mistake letting the strider be account wide. No wonder it looks like everyone is riding those ugly silly mounts all over the place.

I am not the only one that thinks this either.

Just curious, is there going to be an option to buy the floaties at the Crimson water strider vendor in your garrison for those who did that grind instead of anglers?

Yes, the same vendor will sell both. I would anticipate it being like getting flying at 70. Remember when we could just pay gold for flying? Lol, why do I still play this game again?

Two slightly contradictory statements about a system not in place yet from CM’s who don’t always have up to date accurate information.

If Blizzard implements a crafted version, it will likely be tied to new content mats and thus the price, subject to the whims of the crafter placing in on the AH, will likely be higher than that of the rep vendor. Meaning everyone will just grind Angler’s to purchase the reduced price rep vendor version.

Forgive me if I read that incorrectly, and that it has been stated that the items will be profession based, and Blizzard expects the price to be around 1000G (good luck with that), and that blacksmiths will make the item that is anti-daze.

Remember this mount would not be the default go to mount if blizzard did not take flying away from us at the start of every xpac. this is 100% their fault if they feel we use it too much.

Give us flying back at max level, not even for alts until they get to max level.

And, leave the water strider mount as is. Add others if you want, but don’t take away even more things from us.

Also, I think almost everything should be account wide, even rep and gear styled grinding (one neck for the entire account as an example).

Since Nat Pagle is the vendor for both they should make it so either reputation counts, and Nat’s being the much harder of the two his rep should definitely count.

Goal for what? Those mounts are still being used anyway, well then why don’t you add flying ability on water strider if you don’t want have “wrong choice”. Blizzard litearlly just now respond random answer that whatever they want to answer. Stop change unnecessary things in the game, this aint going change your subscription higher

“I’m not sure what the price of the waterwalking shoes will be offhand, but it should be pretty affordable on the Anglers vendor”

Is from a blue post. The way he/she said that clearly shows that there’s two different vendors, with the Angler’s having the cheaper one if you have the rep.

Silly? How so? You seem to be insinuating that Blizzard would permanently remove the Angler’s rep so that players who already have the Strider are the only ones who will ever get a discount and no one post 8.2 launch will be able to get the same discount.

Certainly that would not cause any more irritation either.

Anglers is the vendor for the rep for the water strider. It’s one in the same.

Oh you mean it sounds like there could be a second way to get it? If so, I would think they would have said it could be crafted as well, and they did not

I think you’re way overstating how expensive they will be lol. Access to gold is probably as easy as it’s ever been.

Are you actually reading what people are typing?

Yes I’m saying there’s the discounted Angler rep one. Or you can buy it either full price from some other vendor who also sells the saddle, parachute, etc or they are crafted and sold on AH.

I would not grind Angler rep to save a few hundred/thousand gold on buying the WW shoes lol.

It might be better time spent with stop messing with things that are not broken in the game like portals and the water strider mount and do things like fix specs, end the ap grind fest, make all rep account wide to earn together, get rid of botters, add more talents so it feels like we progress, get rid of ilvl scalling increasing it seems after each patch, give us flying back, etc…

i’m starting to strongly believe that a new expac segment is dropping soon and the water-strider traverses the majority of it. So they are looking for a measure of control to limit players from accessing certain parts of it instead of making these areas inaccessible or gated… Why else would they remove it if it was not, in the end, a measure of control… (Starting to sound like the matrix)

Alts should have benefits of being tied to your account and not be treated as if theyre entirely seperate entities. Earning long-grinds repeatedly isnt fun, thats why you started offering rep catchups and heirlooms. An alt exists to have a new way to play content you like, not drag your way to it. Just an opinion from someone burned out from trying to find content i like.

And seriously, when i make a new char, my righthand action bars are always set up to have hearthstones, professions, and both the waterstrider and tundra mammoth. its just smart play.

(Puts out fresh homebaked mac and cheese with bacon bitts for the brave people still fighting to keep the water strider.)
