Was Wow your first game?

My first MMORPG was Asheron’s Call.

Mine was runescape.

Combat on the Atari 2600, on a 13” black and white tv we had in our kitchen.

The first game that genuinely hooked me and really got me interested in playing others was definitely the first Spyro game on Playstation. We’d had others before that but nothing really clicked until that.

I got really into RTS games when I was younger, years after Spyro, and it sort of just snowballed from there.

I still remember my dad booting up our Sega Genesis and Sega Saturn. We had that cable service where you could stream games, so I had a plethora from which I could choose.

Power Rangers version of Mortal Kombat
Paperboy
Sonic (ofc)
Zombies Ate My Neighbors
Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?
Pirates! Gold
Various RPG / Dungeoncrawler games

Take a wild guess.

lmao.

Couldn’t be that bad, I wasn’t made by JLN :rainbow:

Everquest. I played that before wow for years.

I had to use it to find and checkout books from the library. :grinning:

Pong, but a close follow on was a Lunar Lander type game on a TRS-80. Then there were those Matel handheld basketball/football things…

Oh wait, EDIT!!! Adventure on teletype.

Not even close to my first.
Growing up our toys weren’t even electronic.

I was 3 when pong first came out. But nobody in my household was interested in it after a couple of minutes.

fast forward to the 1980’s.
I was in my teens when started playing Dungeons and Dragons with pen, paper and all the dice.

Then arcade games started showing up at local pizza places. Pac man was my first “real” video game.
The 80’s saw the explosion in growth of full blown video game arcades.
For the first time entire businesses were centered around playing video games.

I was in my 20’s before I started playing games on the PC.
My first PC game was “Elder Scrolls: Arena” because I loved playing DnD and wanted the same type of experience in video game.

tl;dr Pong, then Pac-Man arcade cabinet game, then Elder Scrolls: Arena on PC.

I can’t even begin to guess how many AA batteries I went through playing those games.

My and my Grandmother used to play on the PS2 together, it is what got me into gaming.
Specifically these 3 games:
Sly Racoon 3
Jak & Daxter 3
Ratchet & Clank (I think A Crack in Time is the one we played most, but all of them were great)

The first game I bought for just me though was CoD 2 The Big Red One

My memory is pretty crap when it comes to remembering things I actually want to remember, so I can’t rightly recall what my very first game was. If I were to guess, it was probably an NES or SNES title, as I recall having one or the other as my first console. Mario, Mega Man and Duck Hunt (edit: also just remembered Road Rash) are among the games of my earliest memories, so I assume it was probably one of those.

WoW was the first mmo I stuck with, however. Technically my first mmo was Motor City Online, though I didn’t understand that it was an mmo at the time, or even what an mmo was.

Probably the Combat cartridge on Atari 2600. Use to love playing against my Uncle
on the tank battles. As for RPGs. That would be Dragon Warrior on NES. That is what
got me into RPG games. As for my first MMORPG. That would be EQOA on PS2.

And one needed to know it while tediously fingering one’s way through the card catalog as that is how they were organized. Or the semi adversarial relationship with librarians who were convinced all kids were up to no good.

Also the disappointment when the one you are looking for just so happens to be gone.
