My first game was probably Space Invaders. I was very young, so I don’t remember exactly, though, so it could have been another game. My first MMO was Ultima Online.

Metal Gear Solid.

I got a NES and was a Megaman addict. Played some Mudconnect MUDs for a long time (mostly DBZ ones), and then I got hooked on this little 2D indie dev platform called BYOND and did that and some console games until I got convinced to play this game.

I didn’t want to. I had no interest in WoW at the time, I’ve always been more of a creator than a gamer. But my friends convinced me and now only one of them still plays. lol.

My first game was Robinhood on the ColecoVision gaming system back in the day. It was so much fun
but looking at it now? Don’t bother LOL.

WoW was my first MMO. I played single player games a lot before then, things like Civilization, Railroad Tycoon, etc. I remember having this idea that WoW was played by sweaty teenage boys in their family basement so it didnt appeal socially to a woman of mature years. I happened to be visiting friends in Melbourne during Easter 2009 and had taken my new laptop along with me. My friend’s partner was very much into WoW at the time and suggested that he could download the game onto my laptop and I could play the trial version to see if I liked it.

Damn him. It’s all his fault. :sunglasses:

Remember Sega Channel?
Video games.
On demand.
Over the TV cable!
I know, sounds sketchy right.
I was skeptical myself.
How I was going to play games I didn’t have the carts for?
Was this some sort of witchcraft?

way ahead of it’s time

Can you imagine WoW literally being your first ever game? I actually can’t man that’d be nuts. It was crazy enough for me as my first mmorpg. Someone said they were doing dungeons and I was imagining some mystical area somewhere filled with wonderous adventures. Low and behold there were dungeons in the world you could go to in hidden fantasy like areas with secret passages to them and what not. Truly blew my mind man! I had never experienced an rpg really before that so you can imagine WoW being my first real rpg and an mmo at that.

I remember equipping a sword in Darkshore with intellect thinking it would be good for me cause it’d maybe make my character smarter or better at combat or something. Having zero clue how the game worked it took me ages just to reach level 40 back in 2009 during Wrath. When I finally journeyed to the mystical land of Northrend to meet this elite and scummy playerbase of the endgame I wasn’t mislead at all. Any tiny mistake and they lose it. Any error and your name called out and shamed before the group and then banished for all eternity. I once even had a guy whisper me telling me he’d spread the word about how truly terrible I was to all the guilds on the realm. What a truly epic time Wrath was on Galakrond!

And that I was later told was becoming to ez and casual cause you could buy badge gear. Oh thank heavens the devs decided to protect WoWs sanctity and made dungeons hard again, and the wise crab Ghostcrawler was there to lead us to the promised land. Big ol’ dragon flying across zones burning the hell out of casuals just trying to enjoy leveling at their own pace for the past 5 years. Dungeons being so hard you had to cc, you couldn’t attack anything other than the tanks target, and you better darn well interrupt that ability or rip the group leaves. Every dungeon boss could pretty much one shot you like a megadungeon boss if you messed up (and this was RDF btw :D). Raids must have been something else I can’t even fathom it truly terrified me how hard they could be if heroic dungeons were this crazy.

So yeah anyway not my first but definitely my first mmo and rpg, what a time to be alive that was!

My first PC game was Wolfenstein 3D. My first MMORPG was Ultima Online. My first Blizzard game was Diablo 1. My first Warcraft game was Warcraft II.

My first game was peek a boo. Me and mom used to play it, she somehow knew how to shadowmeld and she was not even a night elf, I could never understand how she just disappeared and reappeared.

First computer game was Hardball 95.

First online game with people was Rogue Spear! On MSN Gaming Zone or something. Played that an insane amount. Had a whole ranking system
good days before I met my ex wife.

Lineage 2 became a thing for a while too
 ugh

No, why would it be? Before MMOs existed SP games. And before wow came EQ and Ultima Online as MMOs.

Like first online game? Either RS or Dark Eden
 or maplestory.

and SWG. Rest in peace.

Yes. WoW, late in Vanilla. Unfortunately I was too busy leveling and also being a noob in general to have witnessed the opening of AQ. At that point I was still running across the wetlands trying to get to the only AH at Ironforge, without getting killed and greifed (because ‘what do you mean, I’m on a PVP server? What’s that?’).

Age of Empires series got me hooked on online games.

My first “pc” gaming experience was probably ascii characters with text and later sopwith. We always had those handheld game thingies called game and watch they were really popular early on and quite fun.

My first game i can really remember was Combat on Atari 2600.

Maybe 1982.

I think that game actually came with the console. Had 2 player coop and like 50 different play modes, and my sister and I played all of them over and over. Some part of me misses those simple to learn and master games.
