The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time got me into gaming.
Star Wars: Galaxies (Pre & Post NGE) got me into MMOs.

Ours had a neat little quirk.
Whenever you got hit, you had to take it back to your base and put the gun in a stand to “recharge” it because it would deactivate when you got hit.
This would update the scoreboard to give yours or the other team a point.
However, sometimes what they called the “gremlin” would show up and give your team a point instead!
I think this was just a technical glitch in this in house modification that they couldn’t figure out and a “gremlin” was the best way to explain it, but it was still a fun little quirk.
WoW was somewhere in the first 5 MMO’s that I played, since then I’ve played dozens more.
The first game I got super addicted to was Morrowind. My long suffering father had to explain what a guar was to my teacher when he found my Favourite Animal assignment incomprehensible.
The first game I ever played was probably either Marble Madness or Great Gianna Sisters on an Amiga my father got for his at home office. I was only 4.
In later years I got an N64, which the most memorable games were Ocarina of Time and Super Mario 64…
But as for MMORPGs specifically? First one was Ultima Online. Private server… a friend had a server and brought over some discs and installed everything and got me going. Didn’t even know there was a “legit” way to play as I was such a noob to that world. Made a little chivalry archer that sucked. Good times!
Nah, it were flash games, followed by Unity Games such as Sherwood Dungeon then RuneScape.
I actually only got into WoW in Legion, I was 15 at the time.
Um, my first game was Pac-Man for the Atari system.
Fist MMO was Phantasy Star Online.
I’m ancient so pong and later asteroids
Heck yeah. That arcade is how my Mom got into House of the Dead 2 ages ago. So we got it on the dreamcast
Starsiege Tribes !
Two thumbs up for Pong… lol. My favorite of a group of firsts.
Pong was the first. Followed by Beneath Apple Manor in 1979 as the first graphics game. First text games were Colossal Cave Adventure, Oregon Trail and Hamurabi [sic].
First encounter with online gaming was Doom when a couple of dorms decided to play it and took down the college network as we only separated the academic and administrative networks with bridges rather than routers. Ugh. Spent a full weekend installing and configuring routers to fix that back in 1993.
My first multiplayer was Unreal Tournament and MechWarrior 2, 3 and 4. First MMO was Gates to Heaven, hosted in Malaysia over a modem. The lag was ridiculous but the graphic were like nothing I’d ever seen before. WoW came in 2006 after Gates to Heaven crashed.
The one constant is that I’ve never been good at them. LOL.
Pinball, I was around for pong even I thought it was stupid back then and hardly ever played it… but as far as video gaming. Bought my 1st console 1977 an Atari VCS they renamed it to the 2600
I believe the next year.
It took a while to save up. Was out of high school and minimum wage was 2.78
And if I remember right, it was 170ish bucks
There was that escort the guar to Vivec quest. Good times
But how can one ever forget coming across the body (if not super paying attention to see the person actually falling before becoming a body on the ground), seeing some neat looking scrolls on their corpse and wanting to try one?
To then find themselves splat into the side of the volcano, or some other random point far away on the island.
Or hey let me steal this gem in front of this evil statue…surely nothing will happen
wow was the first and i distinctly remember telling a WSG game i was 6 or whatever and feeling sad bc one told me to quit the game
good times
Technically my first game was call Jill of the Jungle, played on DOS on an IBM computer in like the early 90s.
I played Nintendo and Super Nintendo in the 90s as well. Played other PC games. The first game that I really put a lot of time into was Pharoah for PC, an ancient Egypt city building game (you can get it on Steam, I still enjoy it sometimes). And later the SiMs was a big one for me.
I never played Warcraft or any other RTS really, but I did play Diablo 1, 2 and 3. 2 was one I put a good chunk of time into. But I stopped playing games for a while and did a lot of D&D and M:tG in person with friends instead.
I gave EverQuest a brief play as I had a friend absolutely obsessed with it, but I only played for a few days.
All that said, WoW is the first game that I have played consistently over the years. I’ve tried other MMOs, and ESO comes close as I play that off and one a couple times a year, but WoW I’ve kept an active sub on since Vanilla for the most part.
I like aspects of ESO because I like TES, but overall I prefer WoW. The classes make sense here. The ability to fly and to swim.
And most importantly, and because I wish I could afford a top of the line gaming system, I play WoW for its lower end accessibility.
For many years, I chased graphics, GPUs, better processors…buying new every other year.
I’m lucky to buy new every 5 now.
Im old asf , EQ, Bards Tale, shoot actually “Oregon Trail” for PC gaming
