Was scammed 650k gold from a fake boost community

This one surprised me.

"Gambling or betting with other players in-game is entirely at your own risk. "

I thought that was straight up against their TOS and something you can be suspended/banned for.

Gambling or betting has nothing to do with this post.

Imagine buying a boost, then getting scammed lol this is kinda funny.

Like i said youfancy the internet allows people to be the butthole and scumbag they naturally are.I do not find anything funny about stealing and scamming people.

And if one of them got taken and didn’t get the service they paid for, the other party would get a little suspension and the gold used in the service would be removed from both parties assuming they have the chat logs on file at Blizzard.

But those top players paying for things by other top players get along just fine because it would be dumb to scam a goldmine of world first guilds that are good for the money and will be returning customers. People like the op can be taken by all sorts of types because they aren’t a top level world first player. They’re just another random trying to cut the line in easy content and many people can scam at that range because the level of skill to provide services at that level is much lower. The odds of getting a credible seller is as good as getting a scammer due to how many are trying to fit their hand in the honey jar.

You are correct, but it is an unsupported transaction that has risks and that’s up to the person taking that risk on if it’s worth it.

If they can prove it via game logs then the gold is removed and not returned, because again, it’s an unsupported transaction. They literally have a rule on this very thing saying they won’t help you if you partake in it.

Define unsupported.Clearly WTS is supported by Blizzard it is all over their game.If blizzard said they do not support racism and then removed every racist post and anything to do with racism then yes that is a company not supporting a particular thing. But if Blizzard said they do not support racism , but allowed racist post in lfg and trade chat all day and night and did not address the problem, that is enabling and supporting racists.

There is no one else to blame. It all starts with you. Protect yourself and your own interest. I get getting scammed burns; we all do, but hopefully you wisen up and don’t let it happen again.

Wyi: this is how toxic the WoW community is.

Say you have mats and want an item crafted. You hand the mats over to someone that agreed to make an item for you. They decide they aren’t gonna do it and keep your materials. In this situation Blizzard can assist as crafting falls under the supported group and they just scammed you out of your materials for a service they were offering in game. Blizzard suspends them and returns the mats to the owner.

An unsupported transaction is when people agree in game or outside of game logs to provide a service like running you through 20 dungeons for a set amount of gold for example. You can pay them in advance like the op did and they could decide to quit carrying you after one dungeon and take your money. Now if Blizzard can prove with game logs that the agreed amount of runs was 20 and they only provided 1 then they can remove the gold from the offending player and maybe tac on a suspension for a scam.

But in this second situation you won’t get your gold back as Blizzard doesn’t provide power leveling services that are hosted by other players within their game worlds. You are making a deal with a stranger and not Blizzard entertainment. The first situation is a protected act as not everyone can be every type of crafter and those types of interactions are protected as they are normal parts of the game.

Paying for made up services is not.

It literally doesn’t matter if they say WTS in the chat. Just because they have a service to sell, doesn’t mean it’s a protected one.

Septimos, “hello? Police. Someone stole my WoW gold.”

Officer, “um… what’s WoW gold?”

Or version 2:

Septimos, “hello? Police. Someone stole my WoW gold.”

Officer, “WoW gold? Wait were you that clown that was complaining on the forums earlier? Lol.”

Either way my man, it’s a game. It’s all it’ll be looked at as. To try and call the authorities is going to get you laughed at even more. If the scammer is reading this thread I’m sure he’s laughing his butt off.

Pretty sure the Op said the scammer bragged about it afterwards. So this is cool, i can now scam people with credit card fraud in WTS and not have to worry about anything since it is their fault and is not protected.Kreature how about this, Hello police their are organizations stealing and scamming people ingame to get their currency to sell it for large amounts of real money.Pretty sure that would get the attention of any law enforcment agency.

And if there are in game logs of the transaction and proof of the scam all in game they will have that gold removed and be punished for scamming.

I linked a post above of a more recent explanation as to why they don’t help. This has been their stance since the very beginning.

It’s cool if you don’t understand the difference between losing a made up currency and credit card fraud. But let’s not make silly leaps like that.

He may of bought wow tokens to sell, but once he sold them that’s when the end of anything serious can happen. The fake currency is now his to do with as he pleases. Be a different story if he bought a wow token and Blizzard stopped him from selling it on the market. They simply aren’t the same thing.

The gold they steal is being sold for real money ,and in many cases a large amount of money. It is almost like some of you are making excuses for the people scamming and stealing it is quite concerning to see this.Instead of everyone agreeing stealing and scamming is bad, and Blizzard should do everything they can to protect people and stop this, some people are actually making excuses for the people doing it, and blaming the victims.Stealing is stealing no matter what it is.How would you react of someone came into you’re house and stole all of you’re kids pokemon cards.

Who tried to circumvent the game’s mechanics by buying a boost instead of playing the character to the desired level? The person who lost their gold, that’s who.

Who naively believed that the person to whom the gold was paid was a saintly being, devoid of evil intent, who would never even THINK to cheat another human being? The person who lost their gold, that’s who.

Who naively believes that real-world authorities have massive amounts of free time to investigate and pursue video game “crimes and misdemeanors” instead of real-world crimes? The person who lost their gold, that’s who.

Welcome to life, the real world, where everything is NOT so damned beautiful all the time. Take this experience as a lesson learned, or as the old saying goes – trust everyone, but always cut the deck before the cards are dealt.

But can you prove it right then and there on the emergency line with the wrong authorities?

Saying it is one thing, proving it is another and the 911 emergency line isn’t the type of power you want in an illegal money scamming operations that are that big and most likely international

We aren’t, you just don’t understand why we won’t give our sympathy to someone who is actively supporting those scamming rings.

It’s one thing to be taken over the phone because you’re an older person that doesn’t understand technology and people on the other side are threatening to come arrest you for outstanding bills, made up warrants and what not.

It’s completely another thing to actively seek out those type of people and interact with them in discord when the deal could easily be made in game.

Why did it have to be discord? simple, because they didn’t want their activity to be monitored and that is an extreme red flag and the op should’ve known better.

We all do agree that stealing and scamming is bad, we just don’t care that the op was taken for participating in an activity that hasn’t been supported since the very first day of world of warcraft that is known by virtually everyone by now I’d hope.

They do.

They don’t return your gold to teach you a lesson on doing activities that aren’t supported.

If it happens within their logs they take action if proven against the scammers/sellers.

He’s not a victim though, he actively sought those types of people out to get a service that isn’t supported.

Hard to do when people like the op continue to fund those illegal activities to the point that it’s so lucrative that they keep coming back to make more and more money off those activities. Ever stop and think that if people like the op didn’t purchase those services the ones providing them would move onto somewhere else or go out of business for lack of funding.

This isn’t all on the scammers. The people like the op are also to blame because they are providing funding for those scam services. If there is nobody to buy those services, then there is no reason to have said services.

If they came into my house in the dead of night they would have a bullet hole somewhere in their body.

I don’t know why you cannot wrap your head around this, maybe it’s a language barrier. There is a huge difference between going to talk with a stranger to setup a deal for an illegal (unsupported) activity and someone breaking into your home.

I have no clue how you link these things as they’re worlds apart.

You should consider that a stupid tax as Dave Ramsey says. Why would you even consider doing it to someone else? And how did you come to the conclusion that anyone was suggesting it?

Obviously you didn’t need that $100 or you would not have spent it on something so frivolous. I am not anti-boosting but if you are going to do it, you are taking a risk.

Ok i am done with this, clearly some of you are not at a mature enough level to understand right and wrong.Let’s all support scamming and stealing and blame the victims, that seems like a honest and responsible thing to do.

Why did you start using an alt to post in this thread OP?

Empathy for them , remember they cannot control how they behave or think or act.

No gold was stolen. It was given willingly.

Empathy is needed , they cannot seperate good from bad and right from wrong. This a clinic on how the mentally unstable people react and act. They think they are doing good and feel important by arguing over something which is so clearly wrong.Just have empathy for them, is all you can do, they cannot change they way they think.
